As Varrick and Leo walked out of Darwin’s room, Varrick glared at Leo.
“Do you truly want to move to IVANDALE? Anyone could see through your deceitful smile,” said Varrick. Leo stopped walking and he glimpsed at Varrick before looking at the ground. “Your silence says it all, Leo. Look, you don’t have to if you don’t want to,” Varrick spoke, his voice serene. Leo took a deep breath and flashed a smile at Varrick. “At first, I thought about the death of my mother. Going back there might bring memories that I would like to forget but then, I have to face my pain. I am willing to do whatever it takes to reach the top and get revenge for my mother,” Leo replied. Varrick was pleased to hear what Leo had said. “That’s the spirit, young lad,” Varrick said, patting him on his back. After the talk with Varrick, Leo went up to his room to gear up. He went in search of Varrick and that’s what made him eavesdrop on Varrick's conversation with Darwin. “Scarlet Magical High School,” he thought. “This is going to be fun.” Leo left the house and went into the woods to train. He ran up and down the hill, he swung his sword and he did minimal work out routines. “This is to build your stamina, Leo. You can do it,” he encouraged himself. After the routine, Leo sat on the ground. Crossing his legs and arms and he closed his eyes. He began to reach into his inner power. The sky became dim as the trees became violent. The wind whistled as the Ravens bidding within the thick trees, cried out. The powerful aura, which was felt in the atmosphere when they fought with Lapo and his men, came flooding out of Leo. He did not know that this would attract attention to himself. “Oh, no. What is he doing?” Darwin said, waking up after feeling the aura. Suddenly, Varrick barged into Darwin’s room. “Don’t tell me that is… ”he paused. “Yes, it’s him,” replied Darwin. Varrick ran out of Darwin’s room and set out to trace Leo. “Why is he such a fool?” he thought, frustration and worry filled his mind. As Leo meditated, various lower-grade monsters surrounded him. Monsters like goblins and also orcs. “What’s this filthy aura I’m feeling?” Leo thought to himself as he slowly opened his eyes. His eyes scanned his surroundings and he was frightened. “WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?!” he exclaimed in fear. The sight of various monsters coming for him put him on the tip of his toes. How is he meant to defeat them, all by himself. He quickly got up and turned back, trying to make an attempt to run away but they were every where. “I can’t escape. I have to… I just have to defeat them myself,” he stuttered to himself. From the minor things which he learnt from Darwin, he used it to fight them off. “Halt: Flary Paralysis,” Leo said, releasing a blend of fire and wind, causing the orcs to be paralyzed. He used the opportunity to strike them down with his sword. The more he fought, the more the monsters increased. Leo huffed, breathing heavily. He had reached his limit. His level of magic molecules had reduced. “Infinity: Gust-” he tried to release another attack but he was too weak. He fell on his knees and began to breath heavily. “Is this how I’ll die? Must my death always be this painful,” he said, as an Orc came charging at him. He shut his eyes close, accepting his fate. A few seconds passed, and Leo realized that he had not yet been attacked. “What happened now?” he spoke, sarcastically. “You fool,” Varrick said, hitting his head with his sword. “OUCH!” Leo exclaimed, putting his hand on his head. “Why would you release that amount of aura in a place like this. Don’t you know you are attracting attention to yourself?” Varrick spoke with traces of anger in his voice. “What do you mean by that? I came out to train and it so happens that I tapped into some of the power I unlocked during my last battle,” Leo pitched, annoyed. “Get up, let’s go,” Varrick sighed, turning away from Leo as he walked away. “Wait up, Master Varrick,” Leo said, hastily standing up from the ground and catching up to Varrick. “But wait, how did you get rid of all the monsters, all at once?” Leo was curious. The lower-grade monsters which he struggled to defeat, Varrick singlehandedly finished them off. Varrick continued to walk, without muttering a word. “Please, tell me. No, teach me,” Leo pleaded, jamming his hands together. “Darwin is all alone. Let’s walk faster,” Varrick responded. Leo pouted. He was unhappy about the fact that Varrick had brushed off his question. “By the way, the monster that was about to attack me-” “A lower Orc. It’s different from the orc Lords. They are mostly confused as bears but they are not. They are really rare, I don’t know how your aura could bring it out,” Varrick replied. “Orcs and Dragons are natural enemies. That’s why they attacked you,” Varrick thought to himself. “But unfortunately, I can’t tell you that, for your own safety.” “Wow, that’s so cool. I mean, I’m so cool, ain’t I?” Leo asked, bragging about his powerful aura. They approached the house as Darwin stood at the front door. Leo could see the smug on Darwin’s face. He knew he was upset. “Oh no,” he said, under his voice as he turned, making an attempt to run away. “Don’t you dare, you immature little prick!,” screamed Darwin from a distance. That was when Leo knew that he had messed up.

CHAPTER 93: ARE YOU....?
Cold sweat soaked both the pillow and silk beddings. Anaya's breathing moved fast while her heartbeat threatened to break her heart free from her chest. Everything appeared misty while the room continued spinning. Her panic caused yet another hyperventilation episode. But before she could descend into a further state of panic, soft warm hands took hold of her body, which were contrary to her own clammy, rough and pale hands. A gentle voice asked "Are you okay?" Anaya replied "Yes, I'm fine" through hurried nodding. Sydney gave Anaya a glass of water as she spoke. Anaya took the cup without a second thought and drank so quickly you’d think she’d been stranded in the desert for days. Droplets of water trickled from her lips down her neck due to her haste. Once the water was finished, she handed the cup back to Sydney, mumbling, “Thank you.” Sydney dropped the glass next to the bed before saying "You're welcome." She watched Anaya breathe while holding her hand and a gentle smi
CHAPTER 92: HEY ANAYA
Varrick sat by himself with a good book, Darwin sharpened his daggers and Sydney knitted sweaters in a chair as they waited for dinner. Then suddenly Leo and Jason appeared before them looking exhausted and distraught. Sydney smiled after recovering from the jump scare; “Looks like someone's acing the conjuring class.” With a few more praises to offer in their stocks, Varrick and Darwin prepared to join but stopped when they saw the girl Jason’s arms, pale and lifeless. "What happened?" Putting his book down and walking toward them, Varrick asked. "She just started hyperventilating, we don't know." Leo replied. "How long has it been?" Varrick began checking her pulse and vitals as he questioned them. For a moment, Jason's voice shook just softly and he could barely get the words out, "Thirty minutes… maybe more." Varrick inspected her palm, noticing the freshly reopened wound. He exchanged meaningful glances with Darwin, who had also caught sight of the injury. "Hand h
CHAPTER 91: SON OF LOTHR
"I'm not insinuating anything, Leo. Don't you get it? Sylvia is one of them." Leo turned to Jason and asked, "You don't think that's true, do you?" Jason averted his gaze, finding it hard to respond. "Jason?" Leo pressed, his hurt evident. Noticing the change in his tone, Jason quickly said, "I just think we shouldn't point fingers just yet... Although her relationship with the inspector is rather odd. Why didn't she tell us she knew her from the beginning?" Leo nodded and took a few steps forward. "Leo..." Jason called out, trying to salvage the situation, but Leo wasn't ready to listen. He simply continued walking away from where they stood. "Leo, wait. Anaya, say something," Jason urged. Neither of them seemed to care at that moment. "Let him leave. Once he has a clear head, he'll come back, and we can all go home," Anaya muttered, trying her hardest to stay calm. "You can't be serious, Anaya," Jason exclaimed. But Anaya's attention had shifted to a different subject en
CHAPTER 90: ONE OF THEM
They finally reached the open window but couldn't go in just yet. The principal was still in the room, and he looked livid. "Alright, Lady Sylvia, since you want to be difficult, let's see how smug you get when you're face-to-face with Miss Renee." Sylvia's face drained completely of color once the principal said those words. He grumbled a few more words and walked out in a huff. The sound of the door slamming made Sylvia jerk in fear. She looked incredibly pale, and her lips were cracked and had already started to bleed. Anaya's eyes softened slightly when she saw her, but looking at her palm again, she knew that she needed answers, and the sooner she got them, the better. They waited a few minutes before climbing in through the window. "Hello, Sylvia. How are you feeling?" Anaya asked, her attitude a little nonchalant. Sylvia quickly sat up, her body tensing and her eyes widening as she stammered, "What are you doing here? You can't be in here!" "Why? Something to hide, Sylvi
CHAPTER 89: LEAVE
"The principal went to see her. They probably think she's the one who did that to the field," Leo muttered, constantly pacing right outside the principal's office. Jason and Anaya gave each other meaningful glances, visibly trying to piece everything together. After Sylvia had fainted in front of them, they quickly rushed her to the school nurse. The school principal had gone in moments later, sweating profusely, with his eyes widened in shock. "Well, isn’t she?" Anaya asked sternly. "Of course not," Leo snapped, he never wasted any time when it came to defending Sylvia. Anaya swept her hands through her hair, her annoyance growing by the minute as she spoke. "My goodness, open your eyes, Leo. The evidence is overwhelming. Sylvia hasn’t been in school in days. I didn’t even see her at the gathering—did you?" she said, pointing at Jason. Jason tilted his head thoughtfully before slowly shaking his head. "Exactly. And then, the minute she shows up, she’s bruised and battered at
CHAPTER 88: A MESSAGE
The club festivities faded and the real party began in the school. They made their way into the school auditorium and noticed all that had been laid out. Music, amazing snacks, even a huge disco ball—the very best Scarlet Magic High School had to offer, and yet somehow someone didn't seem to like it. "This party is lame," Sebastian sighed, swirling his drink with a straw. "Not as lame as the ones royals throw," Leo remarked. Sebastian's eyes widened, his shock noticeable in his expression. He quickly turned to Jason, looking for some kind of validation. Royal gatherings had always been the talk of the kingdom; people who had the luxury of being in attendance just couldn't stop talking about it. Jason noticed Sebastian's gaze and slowly replied, "You'd be surprised." "That can't be true. Have you been to one, Anaya?" Sebastian asked, hoping she'd give him the answer he had been believing all his life. However, Anaya hadn't said a word for a long time. "Anaya? W..." Sebastia
