Darwin was bedridden for 3 days while Leo took care of him.
“When will you wake up?” Leo murmured as he sat on a chair facing Darwin, staring at him. Leo sighed, as he made an attempt to stand up. “And where do you think you’re going?” Darwin spoke, his voice chopped. Leo’s eyes began to tear up. He was filled with joy but at the same time, relief. “I thought that you won’t wake up,” he said, drawing his nose. Darwin chuckled. “What do you take me for? I’ve gone through worse,” he said, sitting up right on the bed. The towel fell from his face and Leo placed it in a bucket. “I know but still. I won’t be able to live knowing that a lot of people have died protecting me,” he said. “You don’t have to feel that way,” Darwin replied. “Something this small can’t kill me.” Leo smiled warmly, as he stared at Darwin. “What’s taking so lo-” Varrick said, but he took a pause after seeing Darwin awake. “I can see that you’re finally awake, after taking a very long nap. You have a load of work waiting for you though.” “But he just-” “Yeah, yeah. I know. At least I’ve gotten some rest that I DESERVE,” Darwin responded, interrupting Leo. Leo did not know what to say as he saw the two argue like cat and dog. After a few minutes, Varrick sighed and he walked towards the door. “Get some more rest and don’t make us worry so much again,” he said, as he gazed slighlty at Darwin. Darwin smiled and nodded his head as Varrick walked out of the room. Leo was pleased to see the relationship that the two share. It made him happy. “Master Darwin,” Leo called. “Mmhhm, what’s wrong?” asked Darwin, as he pushed his attention towards Leo. “What did Lapo whisper to you when he held me in bondage?”asked Leo as he sat next to Darwin. Darwin did not mutter a word. After a few seconds, he leaned to Leo’s ear. “He said he needed you as a sacrfice,” he whispered. “That’s not true,” Leo quickly stood up. Darwin began to laugh, looking at the expression that Leo had on his face. “He whispered it because he wanted only me to know and it will remain that way,” Darwin spoke. “For now, all you have to do is to perfect and master your powers, now that the second seal from your sealed orb has been removed. “I’ve been training for the last three days. I can now manipulate three elements now, fire, water and wind. I woulds still need your guidance,” Leo replied. “Alright then, continue with the basic sword training. I will give you a break down of everything you need to know about the three magic elements and how you can perfect it,” Darwin responded. Leo nodded in agreement as he walked out of the room. “I’m going for my training,” he rose his voice after leaving the room. “Sure,” Darwin said, giggling at Leo’s innocence. After Leo had left, a lot of thoughts ran through Darwin’s head. The words of Lapo ran through his head. Lapo had told him about the main goal of the fangs of chaos. That is, to revive the dragon king so that he could reclaimed the world. “We can’t let that happen or else, the world would be doomed,” murmured Darwin. “Are you going crazy or did you hit your head too hard?” Varrick said, popping out of nowhere. “And when did you enter into the room?” asked Darwin as he pulled out a cigarret from his side drawer. He lighted it and he blew the first smoke. “The Fang of Chaos,” said Darwin. “Thought as much. Leo was targeted again, wasn’t he?” Varrick asked. Darwin faced him and gave him a positive nod. “It’s as we feared. They want to revive the dragon king and destroy Ivandale or the world entirely,” he replied. “What exactly happened in that dungeon?” Varrick questioned, trying to understand the situation. Darwin stopped smoking his cigarette and explained everything that had happened to Varrick. From the sudden attack of goblins, who were overthrowned by Lapo and how Lapo and his men started a fight. To Leo defeating some of Lapo’s men and lastly to how Leo was able to break the second seal of his sealed magic core. “Wow. Isn’t this amusing?” Varrick repsonded, after listening to Darwin’s detailed explanation. “Knowing that trying to exceed his limit helps to break off the seals set by Abigail is getting us a step closer to helping him unlock his powers,” Darwin said. “That’s true. We’re atleast a step closer to helping him achieve his goal,” Varrick replied. “But I think the best option is to take him to Ivandale.” “Ivandale? Is that not where his mother, Abigail was killed? It has just been four months. The wounds which have been trying to heal and forget will resurface,” Darwin raised his voice. Varrick sighed deeply and stared at him for a while. “This is the only way he can grow. He needs to overcome his pain. He needs to succumb to sorrow. It is that pain that will make him stronger,” Varrick defended, trying to make Darwin see reasons with him. Taking Leo to Ivandale was a rather good idea but Darwin thought it would make him more exposed to the Fang of Chaos. “I really don’t think it’s a good idea to take him to Ivandale. There are a lot of evil forces that are attracted to the demon king’s blood apart from the Fang of Chaos. Let’s just train him here,” Darwin persisted, not wielding to Varrick. “Scarlet Magic High School, let’s enroll him there,” Varrick suggested, leaving Darwin in shock. It was an unexpected suggestion.

CHAPTER 93: ARE YOU....?
Cold sweat soaked both the pillow and silk beddings. Anaya's breathing moved fast while her heartbeat threatened to break her heart free from her chest. Everything appeared misty while the room continued spinning. Her panic caused yet another hyperventilation episode. But before she could descend into a further state of panic, soft warm hands took hold of her body, which were contrary to her own clammy, rough and pale hands. A gentle voice asked "Are you okay?" Anaya replied "Yes, I'm fine" through hurried nodding. Sydney gave Anaya a glass of water as she spoke. Anaya took the cup without a second thought and drank so quickly you’d think she’d been stranded in the desert for days. Droplets of water trickled from her lips down her neck due to her haste. Once the water was finished, she handed the cup back to Sydney, mumbling, “Thank you.” Sydney dropped the glass next to the bed before saying "You're welcome." She watched Anaya breathe while holding her hand and a gentle smi
CHAPTER 92: HEY ANAYA
Varrick sat by himself with a good book, Darwin sharpened his daggers and Sydney knitted sweaters in a chair as they waited for dinner. Then suddenly Leo and Jason appeared before them looking exhausted and distraught. Sydney smiled after recovering from the jump scare; “Looks like someone's acing the conjuring class.” With a few more praises to offer in their stocks, Varrick and Darwin prepared to join but stopped when they saw the girl Jason’s arms, pale and lifeless. "What happened?" Putting his book down and walking toward them, Varrick asked. "She just started hyperventilating, we don't know." Leo replied. "How long has it been?" Varrick began checking her pulse and vitals as he questioned them. For a moment, Jason's voice shook just softly and he could barely get the words out, "Thirty minutes… maybe more." Varrick inspected her palm, noticing the freshly reopened wound. He exchanged meaningful glances with Darwin, who had also caught sight of the injury. "Hand h
CHAPTER 91: SON OF LOTHR
"I'm not insinuating anything, Leo. Don't you get it? Sylvia is one of them." Leo turned to Jason and asked, "You don't think that's true, do you?" Jason averted his gaze, finding it hard to respond. "Jason?" Leo pressed, his hurt evident. Noticing the change in his tone, Jason quickly said, "I just think we shouldn't point fingers just yet... Although her relationship with the inspector is rather odd. Why didn't she tell us she knew her from the beginning?" Leo nodded and took a few steps forward. "Leo..." Jason called out, trying to salvage the situation, but Leo wasn't ready to listen. He simply continued walking away from where they stood. "Leo, wait. Anaya, say something," Jason urged. Neither of them seemed to care at that moment. "Let him leave. Once he has a clear head, he'll come back, and we can all go home," Anaya muttered, trying her hardest to stay calm. "You can't be serious, Anaya," Jason exclaimed. But Anaya's attention had shifted to a different subject en
CHAPTER 90: ONE OF THEM
They finally reached the open window but couldn't go in just yet. The principal was still in the room, and he looked livid. "Alright, Lady Sylvia, since you want to be difficult, let's see how smug you get when you're face-to-face with Miss Renee." Sylvia's face drained completely of color once the principal said those words. He grumbled a few more words and walked out in a huff. The sound of the door slamming made Sylvia jerk in fear. She looked incredibly pale, and her lips were cracked and had already started to bleed. Anaya's eyes softened slightly when she saw her, but looking at her palm again, she knew that she needed answers, and the sooner she got them, the better. They waited a few minutes before climbing in through the window. "Hello, Sylvia. How are you feeling?" Anaya asked, her attitude a little nonchalant. Sylvia quickly sat up, her body tensing and her eyes widening as she stammered, "What are you doing here? You can't be in here!" "Why? Something to hide, Sylvi
CHAPTER 89: LEAVE
"The principal went to see her. They probably think she's the one who did that to the field," Leo muttered, constantly pacing right outside the principal's office. Jason and Anaya gave each other meaningful glances, visibly trying to piece everything together. After Sylvia had fainted in front of them, they quickly rushed her to the school nurse. The school principal had gone in moments later, sweating profusely, with his eyes widened in shock. "Well, isn’t she?" Anaya asked sternly. "Of course not," Leo snapped, he never wasted any time when it came to defending Sylvia. Anaya swept her hands through her hair, her annoyance growing by the minute as she spoke. "My goodness, open your eyes, Leo. The evidence is overwhelming. Sylvia hasn’t been in school in days. I didn’t even see her at the gathering—did you?" she said, pointing at Jason. Jason tilted his head thoughtfully before slowly shaking his head. "Exactly. And then, the minute she shows up, she’s bruised and battered at
CHAPTER 88: A MESSAGE
The club festivities faded and the real party began in the school. They made their way into the school auditorium and noticed all that had been laid out. Music, amazing snacks, even a huge disco ball—the very best Scarlet Magic High School had to offer, and yet somehow someone didn't seem to like it. "This party is lame," Sebastian sighed, swirling his drink with a straw. "Not as lame as the ones royals throw," Leo remarked. Sebastian's eyes widened, his shock noticeable in his expression. He quickly turned to Jason, looking for some kind of validation. Royal gatherings had always been the talk of the kingdom; people who had the luxury of being in attendance just couldn't stop talking about it. Jason noticed Sebastian's gaze and slowly replied, "You'd be surprised." "That can't be true. Have you been to one, Anaya?" Sebastian asked, hoping she'd give him the answer he had been believing all his life. However, Anaya hadn't said a word for a long time. "Anaya? W..." Sebastia
CHAPTER 87: YOU SLY CREATURE
They turned heads everywhere they went, although the boys were almost certain that was Anaya's doing. The field was filled with various activities: chess, Pegasus riding, flame throwing, and much, much more. "So basically, all we need to do is choose a club," Jason said. "Mhmm, then the after party," Sebastian added excitedly. "Crazy..." Leo murmured when a centaur casually sashayed right by him. "Come on, let's check that out," Anaya said eagerly, dragging them toward the archery section. The person in charge of the spot had just released his bow, landing his arrow in a perfect bullseye. He turned to them, flashing his pearly white teeth, and said, "Impressive, isn't it?" Anaya scoffed at his words and rolled her eyes. "Anaya," Chris greeted with a deep grin. "Chris," Anaya replied flatly. "Leo, Jason, and Sebastian. Glad we're all caught up," Leo joked. Anaya rolled her eyes and smiled before turning to Sebastian. "This looks fun. Do you want to give it a shot?"
CHAPTER 86: LEPRECHAUNS DON'T DRESS LIKE THAT
Anaya assured Sebastian that they would definitely be in attendance, shocking both Leo and Jason. After hearing her assurance, Sebastian left for his classes, skipping happily. Jason looked at the flyer carefully and stared at Anaya with a raised brow. "You want to join a club?" Jason asked, passing the flyer to Leo. "Of course not," Anaya replied rather quickly. "Then why do you want us to go, especially when we have so much to d—" Anaya placed her index finger on Leo's lips and interjected, "Shh... enough with the book talk. I'm starting to think you both like this more than I do. Come to school tomorrow in your finest costumes, and don't even think of blowing me off." "Should we dress to match? Like one of us will be bread, one will be peanut butter, and the other will be jam?" Jason said excitedly, beginning to like the idea. "Hold on—who's the jam?" Anaya asked, her eyes widening in expectation. "And who's the bread?" Leo added, wrinkling his nose. He never seemed
CHAPTER 85: A DISTRACTION...
Anaya walked over to them after her long conversation with one of the classmates. This was the longest she had spoken to anyone other than Jason and Leo since she stepped foot into the school. She was still laughing heartily as she said, "You guys are not going to believe what happened to Mr. Fickletie Berry..." Her laughter slowly faded once she saw how drained they looked. "What happened to you two?" she asked, worry etched on her face. However, she received no reply, only aggrieved sighs. Anaya's frown deepened as she felt she was being given the silent treatment. "Look, are you guys still upset about the prank thing? I said I was sorry." "No, we're not upset, honest," Jason assured, waving his hands frantically. Anaya slowly nodded and replied, "Okay, good... But then, why do you both look like you're about to jump me?" Leo chuckled slightly at her comment, and Jason responded, without a sigh, "My dad made us scrub the ballroom floor when he found out that we were not in
