David was the first of all of them to wake up, the light of the day almost blinding him upon his rise. He looked around him, his friends all sprawled around him unconscious. He felt a little bang in his head as the recent event played in his head. He tapped Colleen, waking her up. She yawned heavily, stretching her limbs as she felt the fresh breath of a new day. He woke Dana next and the twins, then Meena, asking them if they remembered what had happened. They all confirmed the events of the previous night, from the fight against Ares to the divinity god and the imp helping them, telling them about Ares and how he got there.

"Okay. We need to get to the scales of Ares now." He said as soon as they all confirmed his earlier question. Before they could protest, he added.

"If we don't, he's going to kill those people, he'll probably invade Ladus and your respective hometowns. You won't want that. Let's get there first, I have a plan."

"Is this plan the same plan from yesterday?" Meen

"Did I hear you well?" Colleen asked. He had seen her first and told her what his next mission objective was. "Are you sure that's what you saw?" She asked him again. He nodded, his body still emitting fear. He stopped trembling, a wage of calm washing over him. Perhaps it was because he saw the fear in her eyes, or he did not want to appear afraid to her, self awareness enshrouding him. "Well, it's a level up mission, I've got to do it " he muttered. She hit him on the shoulder. "What the hell was that for?" He asked. "What's this sudden nonchalance from you? I get it you don't want to look scared, but you don't have to act like you don't care." She responded. "Fine, Mum." He spoke. "Unbelievable." She spoke, shaking her head. She turned in the direction of their friends who had all fallen asleep after their brief interaction where he told them the next thing to find. "Should we tell them now?" She asked, nodding towards them. "No, let them sleep. They look adorable." He res

  • Level 20: Mission Objective

"Well, the next item we need, the barks of the tree of life." David spoke. "It's only a myth, even over here." Colleen responded. "It's a fucking kids tale." Dana grunted, turning away from them. "So how do we find a nonexistent tree?" Eder questioned."I don't know." David said, shrugging his shoulders. "What about Gandu?" Dana asked."He's officially on our checklist on our one week journey to Ladus." David yelled after her. "Quit it, you look like a bitch trying to be sarcastic." She responded. He frowned."Fuck you." He cursed lowly, inaudible for anyone but himself to hear. "So that's the plan." Colleen spoke, they all were headed to the camp. "The tree of life. Ha, what a joke." Meena spoke as they entered the camp. "Even you? Aren't you supposed to be a grumpy old priest in the future? You are going to have a connection to nature…the tree of life!" Eden joked. Her face went expressionless. "Bro." Eder spoke, placing an arm on his shoulder. "What?" He asked. "That was

  • Well what's next?

"Well look who's back." Eden spoke upon sighting David approaching them. They were on a road away from the mountains, their movements slowed down by the thousands of captive survivors they had freed. "Hey big guy." David waved back. Meena overtook him once more, just to pat her Bison which was a part of the caravan. She rubbed his head. Dana and Eder were at the front of the caravan and did not bother going back to meet up with the rest. They were still needed up front. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you guys were already far out away from the mountains." David spoke as they all caught up to the caravan. Eden laughed, facing Colleen who seemed to pay no attention to their conversation. "Ares's people were not really holding their end of the deal and Colleen just knew your ass was in trouble. Was it not?" Eder replied. "Yeah, she's pretty much my guardian angel." They stopped talking afterwards, proceeding on the journey. David at times took flight, scoping their environs f

  • Being A Better Father

"Hey." He spoke, his eyes fully opening, she flinched backwards a bit, fear evident in her eyes. He groaned, sitting up. She stood at a safe distance from him, not uttering a word. He understood her, she was afraid. Even he was afraid of himself in that form. His gaze darted to a few metres from him. Ares's decapitated head lay there, his body still oozing blood like water through a stream. He turned his head back to her, not knowing what he would say. Finally, the words seemed to come out, even as they did, he felt no comfort in them. "I'm sorry." He spoke. She had turned slightly away from him, still afraid. "I know I lost control there. I don't have an excuse Colleen, I swear I'm sorry." He added, feeling less weighed down on by the words. "Are you alright?" She asked, a genuine look on her face. He was taken back. He expected her to yell, rant, scream at him, treating him with the dignity she would treat a terrible person, but she didn't. She was only concerned about his well-b

  • Lost control

David found himself in a dark void, floating in nothingness. To him, all he felt was the emptiness that surrounded him. The power he seemed to gain moments ago had eased and he felt less tense. He tried steering himself from the spot he was, expecting to find a way out of the darkness, he couldn't. He wondered why.Suddenly, the system interface appeared before him, the backlight darker than it once was and it's font now bolder. "What happened?" He asked, hoping it would communicate with him. The interface beeped, loading a feature on the screen. "OS UPDATED. VERSION 2.0, ACTIVE AND RUNNING"Was the display on the interface. "Hmm" he spoke, wondering if it was what gave him the ability to override the glitch with his interface when he was fighting Ares. "WELCOME BACK, PLAYER 1." It read. He nodded and the interface changed, displaying his current level, Level 19. He scrolled to the bottom of the interface and saw a new option. The option displaying his features. He clicked it and

  • This is what you wanted

David few back, avoiding the strike of Ares's sword. He hurled his dagger forward, attempting to stab at his shoulder. Ares slapped it off and jumped at him. He flew back again, letting the god land, then thrust towards his head, pushing his dagger forward. Suddenly Ares disappeared and he tumbled in the air, crashing against the floor. Before he could recover, Ares appeared behind him, driving a powerful kick to his side, throwing him against the mountain body. He landed, coughing, then propelled himself forward again. Ares disappeared once more and before he could change course, he felt the god's fist slap into his spine, causing him to crash on the floor again. He attempted to stump him and he flew away, withdrawing his daggers. He hurled them quickly at Ares who only slapped them off with his sword. The god dashed towards him, each step rumbling across the mountain. He punched at David who steadied himself, catching the punch with his hands. He pushed back and used the momentum t
