Inside the hospital, one of the nurses who attended to Mason yesterday approached him, her worried eyes panned at his body. "Mr. Williams, are you alright?" she asked, looking at the bloodstained on Mason's clothes and the dark circles underneath his eyes.

"I'm fine," Mason replied, glancing at his body. "Though his wounds were almost healed, he couldn't deny the little sting he still felt.

"Are you sure you don't want to get that check?" She asked, hoping Mason would change his mind, but Mason shook his head.

"How's my sister?" he asked, changing the topic, and the nurse's eyes immediately lit up at his question.

"Good news," she said with a smile. "We have been trying to contact you hours ago to inform you that Helen was awake but couldn't get hold of you." the nurse replied, and Mason's eyes widened, remembering he misplaced his cellphone during his accident.

"She's awake?" he asked with a clouded eyes.

The nurse nodded with a smile. "Right now, she's sleeping without needing the oxygen mask."

Mason, who didn't waste time, rushed to Helen's room. The doctor attending to her was there with two females which Mason did not recognize.

"Doctor, I heard my sister was awake," Mason said, and the three figures turned toward him.

"Mr.Williams," the doctor called and nodded in response. "She's responding well to her treatment and is asleep now."

Mason's eyes were flooded with tears as he stared at his sister. Within a day, Helen was looking healthier compared to when he had brought her in.

"Doctor," Mason called, wiping the tears from his eyes. "I have yet to complete the down payment; all I need is more time. I promise to work hard and come up with it. J-Just, please don't stop her treatment," Mason's voice pleaded.

The doctor smiled at Mason. "You don't have to worry about the payment, Mr.Williams. I work for you," He said.

Work for me?

Mason furrowed his brow. "What do you mean, you work for me?" He asked, confused.

"Mas," a feminine voice called, and Mason turned in split seconds, sending a shock of wave down his spine. It's been more than ten years since anyone called him by that name, and the only person who did was his 'Mother!'

Mason's head snapped in the direction of the voice. His gaze landed on the woman whose throbbing hands silenced her sob with tears running down her cheek.

She was standing in elegant clothes, her body decorated with bright diamonds, and a strong aura of wealth surrounded her.

She was the same woman Mason had once called Mom. Mason staggered back at the sight before him. He couldn't believe what was happening. His mother, who he thought was dead, was standing before him. He closed his eyes and opened them, and the figure was still in his front.

"W…what is going on? What the hell is this?" Mason stammered, staring at her beautiful face and the blurry memory of his mother resurfacing.

"It's me, baby, it's mommy," Grace said, stretching her hands, but Mason shrunk away, making more tears roll down her cheek.

"T-This can't be possible!" Mason felt his lungs stretch for air. "T…They told me I can't see you anymore because you were dead!"

"I… It's not true, baby. They took you and Helen away from me. They took my babies from me." her voice cracked. Mason's tears were dropping to the floor as he looked into his mother's eyes, filled with sadness.

"What the fuck is going on today!" Mason half screamed with his finger running through his hair.

What does she mean they took you?

"You left us!" he said, remembering the pain and grief he went through when the orphanage told him he was never going to see his parents because they died in a car crash. "I prayed it wasn't true, but it was on the news."

"No baby, those people manipulated the news," she turned to Helen, who was still sleeping. "You and your sister are the best thing that ever happened to me, and those monsters took you away."

Even though Mason had a thousand questions running through his head and wanted an explanation, He just couldn't do it.

"I can't do this right now," Mason said, moving out of the room. He felt like his head was going to explode. He needed some air and space, so he left the room, ignoring the voices calling behind him.

"Mason, please don't go," he heard his mother say before he exited the room.

"Don't worry, he will come around," said a voice that Mason assumed was the other female beside his mother before exiting the room.

Mason left the hospital, wandering down the street with no particular direction. He still couldn't believe everything that was happening to him, starting from losing his job to his mother, who he was dead, turned out to be alive. He should be happy his mother was alive, but he couldn't comprehend the strange things happening to him.

"You should listen to her side of the story, Mason," a familiar voice said, and Mason turned to see Emoji floating in the air beside him.

"It's you!" Mason muttered. "Excuse me!" Mason called to a man walking down the street. He stared at Mason with furrowed brows and a frown plastered on his face at Mason's torn attire, assisted with the bloodstained.

'What does this madman want from me,' the man muttered. "I don't have any money to give you," the man said before Mason could reply.

"No, not that," Mason replied, shaking his head. "I need to ask you a question. Can you see the Emoji floating in the air?" Mason asked, pointing towards Emoji.

The man's frown deepens. "I knew you were crazy," he said and walked away, leaving Mason dumbfounded.

"I wouldn't blame him," Emoji said, and Mason averted his eyes from the man.

"What?"

"You sounded crazy yourself," Emoji chuckled. "No one can see me except you, Mason."

"There must be a scientific explanation," Mason said.

"If you still doubt It, you can check your account balance from that ATM." Emoji pointed to the machine nearby.

"I can't do that because I don't have an ATM card," Mason said, remembering he never collected his card from the bank and has always gone to this bank to make any deposit or withdrawal.

"What century do you live in, Mason," Emoji said, rolling its eyes. "Then you have to go to the bank."

Inside the Williams mansion, the dining hall glowed with soft light, and long curtains towered over the tall windows that overlooked the gardens. Voices and laughter echoed faintly from within, and Cleopatra’s steps slowed the moment she heard it.“How dare you!” a voice giggles ahead, causing Cleopatra to turn her head to glance over her shoulder at Mason, who is trailing behind them. His face is adorned with a reassuring smile, yet it’s not quick enough to hide the hint of amusement as he catches Grace's voice. “Relax, dear. My daughters don’t. Much,” Grace says with a warm smile, as she notices the subtle expression Cleopatra is desperately trying to suppress. As they entered the space, the conversation at the table paused, and the three figures stared in their direction.A brief silence lingered through the room as the girl shifted their gaze from Mason to the girl his mother held close. Then Mrs. Williams’ face lit up as if someone had turned on a light inside her. “Cleopatra?” she asked, disbelief and joy masking her voice. “Your girlfriend?”“Yes, Mom.”She rose from her seat. “Finally! My only son has kept her hidden for far too long.” She clasped her hands together. “I must meet her.”Haley grinned. “This is serious if you’re bringing her to dinner.”“Call the kitchen staff and tell them to prepare dinner.” Grace paused. “No, I'm doing all the cooking,” she added, making all eyes turn in her direction. “Now this is serious,” Helen muttered, making several laughs fill the room.Later that evening, Mason’s car slowly rolled through the gates of the mansion; the rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of insects filled the quiet night. Inside the vehicle, the figures remained silent, allowing an overwhelming stillness to envelop the space. When Mason finally turned off the ignition, Cleopatra turned toward him, her face a mask of shock and disbelief as she too

  • Home

Mason's car soared through the empty street of the WPD; its tires barely touched the ground at its immense speed. ‘Slow down!’ The thought surged in once, prompting Mason to carefully hit the brakes. The car's tires screeched, and when it finally came to a stop, Mason exhaled, his eyes averted to the incoming truck just a short distance ahead.“You’re being reckless,” Emoji called. Mason shifted his gaze to the left to the figure floating in the air. “If you are wondering how long I have been here, it was the moment where one slip from that steering wheel could end your life,” he completed.Mason sighs, leaning into his seat. The words of Miranda replayed in his mind. His enemies could already be making plans, and yet he didn't know who they were. Though he maintained a calm expression, deep down he was worried and more worried since he couldn't talk to his family about the dangers lurking around.“How am I supposed to protect them when I can't even tell them who I'm protecting them

  • They Declared War

The interior of the car was sealed off from the outside world, creating an insulated environment. Mason's fingers gently traced along the smooth surface of the bulletproof glass, which muted the bustling city noise. He could already feel her gaze waiting for permission to speak. “Go ahead,” he said, as his eyes remained fixed on the distorted reflection in the glass.Miranda studied him carefully. Among all the celestial captains, she was the only one who had the rare opportunity to work directly with their master. That fact alone was a huge responsibility any captain would carry with pride. Mason's calm and precisely unreadable expression has always impressed her.“The attack on your sister wasn’t random,” she announced. "We've confirmed it was planned to send a message.""I know," he replied in a low, controlled tone. Though he didn't know their initial goal, he was aware that such an attack would require meticulous planning and a subsequent follow-up strategy, and the fact that t

  • Words And Consequences

“What's going on? What's he talking about?” Cleopatra asked, curiosity masking her voice. She shifted her gaze from Mason to the man on his knees. She remembers him, not because of the uniform he wore, but because of the expression he had earlier when he was rudely accusing Mason of cheating.Mason reluctantly lowered his gaze to the security officer, who was once barking orders. “You should head home and get some rest. I'll come by later to pick you up," he replied.“Later?”Mason nodded. "I'd like to introduce you to my family," he added, finally meeting her eyes. When he saw the expression flash across her face, a small smile appeared on his face. "I'm sure they would love to meet you," he added. Cleopatra, with a slowed breath, nodded. The cheers faded behind him as urgency slowly replaced his triumph. Even when he had seen Cleopatra earlier, he could still see the facade she wore, the pain lingering in her eyes, and the hint of betrayal lacing her voice as she spoke. That morning was still clear in his mind. He could still picture her face the last time he’d seen her on his screen. She had frozen into silence, hurt flashing before the call ended too quickly for words.“Cleopatra!” Mason called, breaking into a jog as he spotted her near the exit. Her shoulders tense, her steps quick and deliberate. She didn’t turn, making his heart skip a beat
