Max stood frozen at the school courtyard, heart racing as the System interface flickered in front of him:

[INVENTORY REWARD]

You have:

1 Gold Key

3 Bronze Keys

Max, gulping, inserted the Gold Key into the system.

[UNLOCKED SKILL: Blind Spot Strike]

MP Cost: 50

Description: A precision strike targeting an opponent's blind spot, causing disorientation and stagger. Damage varies based on body part used and timing.

"Blind Spot, huh?" Max whispered. "Alright... I can work with that."

Without wasting time, Max inserted all three Bronze Keys. His MP stat rose — not drastically, but just enough. He took a deep breath.

Suddenly, a girl sprinted past, accidentally bumping Chris as she rushed for the bus. But before she could make it—

Chuck Allen was already approaching her from behind, eyes narrow.

“No one… is faster than me,” he muttered, lifting his hand to strike.

Max moved on instinct, grabbing Chuck’s hoodie and yanking him backward, causing the girl to escape.

[QUEST COMPLETE: Full Sprint]

Reward Calculated...

[NEW CHAIN QUEST: Defeat the Monster - Chuck Allen]

Max’s blood went cold.

Chuck turned slowly, fire in his eyes. “Are you faster than me?”

Max tried to stall, then shouted, “Sorry! That was… muscle memory!”

Chuck didn’t care. He charged.

Max activated Blind Spot Strike, launching a side jab. It connected — but Chuck barely flinched.

Max bolted.

But behind him, Chuck dropped his bag. It hit the ground with a THUD like a mini-earthquake.

"Oh no..." Max whispered.

Chuck blurred forward — faster than before.

Max spun and struck again, same skill. Still no major damage. "Is this thing broken?!"

Grimm, floating beside him, chuckled. “Maybe you’re just weak.”

“NOW is when you want to roast me?!”

Max tried to run again, but Chuck was on him. He dodged left—too slow.

Punch. Kick. Elbow.

His HP dropped rapidly.

Suddenly, Max ducked one blow with perfect timing. His body moved almost by itself.

“Wait... I didn’t call for a soul link,” Max muttered. “Grimm, did you—?”

“Nope,” Grimm replied. “That’s all you, kid. Every time you use a soul… a little of their muscle memory stays behind. You’ve been absorbing more than power.”

Chuck slammed another blow into Max’s ribs.

“Of course, without the actual soul power, it’s not as perfect. But hey—your body’s learning.”

Max was on the ground, blood in his mouth. He looked up.

Chuck lifted a rock.

“You won’t be faster than me. NO ONE will!”

Max weakly lifted his leg. “Blind Spot Strike...”

The kick hit Chuck’s leg—the blind spot behind the knee. For the first time—

Chuck winced.

Max smirked. “That’s the trick. The skill didn’t say how to use it — because it can be used with anything. Hand. Elbow. Knee. Foot.”

Chuck’s rage grew. His grip on the rock tightened.

FLASHBACK - CHUCK ALLEN

He was always second place.

In sprints, hurdles, cross-country.

His father — a former champion whose career ended in injury — never let it go.

“You come second again, and I swear I’ll kill you!”

Chuck, desperate to win, began sabotaging others — injuring competitors.

And it worked. Until now.

BACK TO PRESENT

Chuck lifted the rock—

But Max, in a stroke of brilliance, threw Lisa’s cooking straight into Chuck’s mouth.

“Hope you’re hungry!”

Chuck gagged, dropped the rock, and doubled over vomiting.

Max, still remembering Brandon Lee’s kick style, rotated into a spinning kick. It wasn’t soul-powered… but it was solid.

Chuck dropped to his knees.

Max marched over, whispered, “And this... is for the guy with glasses.”

Then activated Blind Spot Strike one last time — using his forehead.

[CRITICAL HIT - Quest Complete] ️

5 Bronze Keys earned.

Max stood victorious—

Until he glanced at his HP:

5... 4... 3...

Panic hit. “If I pass out now, he’ll get up and kill me!”

Max quickly inserted the Bronze Keys, dumping all into HP. It stabilized.

He exhaled, wiped his face, and limped home.

Later that night...

In an abandoned warehouse, Chuck was tied up and bloodied.

A looming figure in a school blazer with a Swisscom High badge stepped forward.

“You lost… to a new representative?”

He raised a metal bat and struck Chuck without hesitation.

“Bring me Bloomfield’s Rep. I want to meet him myself.”

The Next Day

Max strolled into class, bandaged but calm. No quests. No violence. Just vibes.

Until—

[NEW QUEST: Respond to Her Request – Target: Lois Conor]

Max groaned. “What now?”

Just then, the teacher clapped.

“We have a new student today. Please welcome her.”

She walked in—elegant, calm, observant.

“My name is Lois Conor. Pleased to meet you.”

Max sighed. "Of course."

She smiled directly at Max.

The system popped again:

[Request Incoming… Prepare for a new chain.]
