Of course, she had accepted.

This was her dream.

What she had worked her arse off for. What distinguished her from being just the Jenkins heiress or the national beauty of Auriele.

Not everyone got a direct offer from the President’s office.

She had managed that.

Her excitement had been mixed with her mother’s anxiety.

Chloe Jenkins had been having migraines since Zoraya shared the news.

Zoraya was afraid her mum still believed Mars was not a place where humans could survive for long.

Since she couldn’t talk her out of going, she had used her trump card. Zoraya should at least get into a relationship with a man before leaving.

“That way you will have someone waiting for you,” Chloe had said in all seriousness, like she thought that would make much difference.

It was almost as if she expected Zoraya to impulsively fall in love with a Martian alien and forever stay there.

Zoraya shook her head just as the motion-detecting gate of her home eased open.

  • All Ready

Julian's good mood immediately darkened and he responded tersely, “I don't want to talk about it.” “I respect that,” she said as she raised her hands in truce and backed away. Her purple “I am a star” shirt gaped strained over her ample chest before she turned away. Her voice held a hint of excitement as she looked from the last clue in her hand to something on the wall. “I think we found it.”Julian came forward as she pressed on the lever on the wall. True enough, the exit sign blazed at the end of the corridor and the door swung open as they approached.

  • Bleeding Heart

Julian looked at the time and realised they only had twenty-nine minutes left. “We might want to hurry up before we get locked in forever here,” he drawled. “I don't see you helping much,” she tossed at him. “Well you are the expert astronaut. You also got us into this, miss. It's only fair I let you lead, you know. After all, I am just a weak little man,” he said in a mock-scared voice as he reached for another clue.He saw her lips twitch before she turned to him and said, “Astrophysicist and Aerospace Engineer. Those are the right titles.”

    Not Again

As they stepped into the narrow corridor beyond the door, the door clanged shut behind them with such a final note that Julian looked back uneasily. Just as he was looking back, he saw a glowing yellow write-up on the wall asking, “Do you dare to escape?” He looked at the woman trudging ahead of him like she was waltzing through the most glamorous halls in Quiset. He briefly wondered if under all that gorgeousness, the heiress was somehow unhinged and was about to involve him in some twisted game. He shrugged off his silly thoughts and was about to call her when they rounded a corner to their left.

  • Too Bad

Julian stepped out of the cab and raised his brow at the building before him.“This can't be the right place, yeah?” he wondered as he looked at the map she had sent to him.The only conversation they'd had so far.Yeah. The map stopped right in front of the plain-looking, unpainted building with the single bold red sign on it that said Dare.It almost gave the vibe of an abandoned building.Yet it was right in the middle of a brightly painted mall and a bowling alley centre.Julian was about to dial her number when the vision in tight-fitting, crazy jeans, leather jacket and boots came out of the plain metal door. His hand paused in the air as his gaze fixed on the honey-toned face with the perfectly arched brow, luminous amber eyes and a nose so pert he wanted to touch it to be sure it was real.Susan was beautiful. But the woman before him?It didn't take Julian any trouble to realise why she was Auriele's national beauty.Mesmerised as he was by her beauty, a faint familiar feelin

  • Hot Date

“You are supposed to work on this. Not sit around.” Carlisle, Henry's secretary, slammed a folder filled with documents on Julian's plain-looking desk.Julian looked up from where he was lifting his crossbag from the rack. He looked at the clock. Five minutes to four.Carlisle had had a permanent scowl on his face since Julian was introduced to all as Henry's assistant. That scowl looked permanently carved on his face now as he glowered at Julian, as if daring him to talk.“I am sorry, Carlisle, but this will have to wait till tomorrow. I finished the last sorting twenty minutes ago, and I fail to believe you just realised you needed this now. My boss says I close by 4pm. Look at the clock, Carlisle, it is four minutes to closing hour. I am not working overtime on my first day,” Julian said with an agreeable smile.“Look here, you dimwit. You might think you won the jackpot by getting a phoney job, but you will tread carefully with me. An assistant’s assistant? Bullshit,” Carlisle s
