Chapter 6

Third person POV

Aphrodite, ancient Greek goddess of sexual love and beauty, identified with Venus by the Romans. The Greek word aphros means 'foam', and Hesiod relates in his Theogony that Aphrodite was born from the white foam produced by the severed genitals of Uranus (Heaven), after his son Cronus threw them into the sea.

Aphrodite was, in fact, widely worshipped as a goddess of the sea and of seafaring; she was also honoured as a goddess of war, especially at Sparta, Thebes, Cyprus, and other places.

However, she was known primarily as a goddess of love and fertility and even occasionally presided over marriage. Although prostitutes considered Aphrodite their patron, her public cult was generally solemn and even austere.

Some scholars believe Aphrodite's worship came to Greece from the East; many of her attributes recall the ancient Middle Eastern goddesses Ishtar and Astarte. Although Homer called her "Cyprian" after the island chiefly famed for her worship.

she was already Hellenized by the time of Homer, and, according to Homer, she was the daughter of Zeus and Dione, his consort at Dodona. In Book VIII of the Odyssey, Aphrodite was mismatched with Hephaestus.

the lame smith god, and she consequently spent her time philandering with the handsome god of war, Ares (by whom she became the mother of Harmonia, the warrior twins Phobos and Deimos, and Eros, the god of love).

Aphrodite's main centres of worship were at Paphos and Amathus on Cyprus and on the island of Cythera, a Minoan colony, where in prehistoric times her cult probably originated. On the Greek mainland, Corinth was the chief centre of her worship.

Her close association with Eros, the Graces (Charites), and the Horae (Seasons) emphasized her role as a promoter of fertility.

She was honoured by the Roman poet Lucretius as Genetrix, the creative element in the world. Her epithets Urania and Pandemos (Of All the People) were ironically taken by the philosopher Plato (in the Symposium) to refer to intellectual and common love.

The t.v was shut off at that very moment. It felt weird to priamos, cause to him it felt like he should go and witness what's about to happen. It was like he was drawn to it somehow, like he belonged there.

Everyone in the cafe was now on edge, the tension could be cut with a knife. I mean, you just witnessed three beings one out two was a god, about to fight before the t.v completely shut off, it was nerve racking.

He looked over at Casey with a worried look on his face. He knew what he was thinking was beyond dangerous and far out of his comfort zone but he just needed to act on this impulse. Why? He had no idea.

Casey could basically read his mind, they’ve been best friends their whole lives, she could tell what he was thinking sometimes, this was one of those times. And like expected she didn't agree with what he was thinking.

He was about to get up before she put her hand on his shoulder. "Priamos no" she tried to stop him but he just shook his head. "I have to Casey" he pleaded with her. "We don't even know what's going on" she tried to reason.

"All the more reason to find out why I'm feeling this way" he fought. She stared at him for a couple more seconds before sighing and letting go of his shoulder. She quickly grabbed her keys and got up as well.

"Well if your going I'm going"

He smiled at her. They quickly paid and through there stuff out. They ran out to the car, hopped in and drove off to their destination, which was a pretty dangerous one.

They stared at each other, waiting for one to make the first move. They were in a defensive position, ready to fight if necessary. It wasn't quite as some people might think. There were screaming and crying everywhere.

The roads were demolished and there was a fire the police were trying to take out. It was a war zone. The god Poseidon and the gorgon sisters on earth, one to kill a being and one to save one. It was crazy to see.

Their breathing was heavy and their heart racing. They couldn't kill the god for it was punishable by death, but they could injure him. It was going to be a difficult task but not an impossible one.

That was before the sisters could pick up on something that Poseidon was late on. The scent of their sister, of their family. Euryale looked in the corner of her eye to see a car park just a few meters away.

She looked closely to see who was getting out the car. It was like everything was in slow motion. The door opening, the person getting out, and the overall mood. When he stepped into her line of site she almost cried tears of joy.

It happened so fast Poseidon didn't see it. She grabbed sthenos arm and they disappeared into green smoke, until they reappeared right next to priamos. He isn't see what was happening when he felt a strong hand gripping his arm and pull.

Then everything went black.
