Monte Pizzaro

Monte Pizzaro sat on his hotel bed, his eyes glued to the television. He had been praying since he had returned, and now after taking a bath, probably to wash away any stench which he had picked up in the hunt, he sat now waited for the hour news.

Surely something of this magnitude could not be swept under the carpet. He turned to the bed side table and lifted out one of the vials carefully, examining its contents.

This was what Emily Turner had died for. Science was a gift given to mankind by God, but man had began to misuse such gifts. From guns, to bombs and now this. Fifteen years ago, as Monte could recall his wife and kids had been killed in a bio-terror attack. The attacker, a young scientist had carried in his bag, a modified strain of the Ebola virus; a much more deadlier strain.

Apparently, this stupid researcher had thought it wise to move a level four risk virus without adequate protection. There was a leak and every human who was exposed to the deadly virus had died grusome deaths. The media had reported it as an accident, but Monte knew that was no accident. Miraculously, he had survived the exposure.

His wife who also happened to be a scientist had brought the virus home and infected her young family. His phone began to ring and he picked it up calmly. The voice on the other end spoke softly, giving off a sort of fatherly vibe.

"Che la pace del Signore, sia sempre con voi.", the caller had spoken in Italian.

Monte replied, "Et cum spiritu tuo." This was their established greeting pattern.

The caller spoke to him for about ten minutes in Italian. When Monte had cut the call his eyes was focused firmly on the television again. The news was just coming on. The young reported was buzzing.

"I'm at the science research complex, where news of the unfortunate accident took place. It is reported that a researcher at the facility was involved in a bad accident."

Monte could see Philip talking to another reporter in the background. His faced looked like someone who had just been through hell. Monte could see that he was trying to get away from all the spotlight he was now receiving.

"So Emily had survived?". That was rather unfortunate. In nature, stuffs like this rarely happened. When a predator had closed in and made a kill, that was that.

The reporter was now saying, "and the researcher who we are now confirming to be the renouned evolutionary biologist Dr. Emily Turner is receiving treatment at the...". That was what he had been waiting for, his mission was not yet complete. He continued watching the news to a few more minutes before picking up one of the vials, and staring at it carefully.

"I still have work to do", he mused.
