The deserted alleyway was right in its sense— deserted.
Weeds sprouted literally everywhere, waste metal scrap lay here and there on the ground, littered broken glass scattered on the floor. The mobile kitchen was sitting there, left at the mercy of nature, and it had reclaimed most of its physical appearance. No one cared enough to claim the vehicle, and no one had reason enough to want to be here except crack head and drunkards, but they'd usually show up at late hours. Crunch! Crunch! Crunch! Maximus’s boots slowly smashed the broken glass, and gravel under his weight as he made his way toward the truck. From his upclose position, he realized that it was in worse condition than he'd anticipated. The side mirrors were shattered to shards, holes were puntureed on the roof, the tires were flat and the windows were clouded with mist and cobwebs. He hesitated before opening the door, almost imagining what he would be able to find inside. He pulled the door handle with a considerable amount of force, it didn’t budge. He pulled and pulled until it eventually pried open, introducing him to the offensive stench that hovered inside the truck. Maximus swiftly shoved his arm against his nose to shield himself from the odour. It was an offensive mix of dust, greese and something far worse… “... Is that… pee?” he muttered to himself in disgust. He soon mustered the courage to look inside deeper, and just as he predicted, the interior was complete shambles— way worse than the outside. The countertops were chipped and stained, with food scraps that looked like they'd been sitting there for years… and even so, they probaby have been sitting there for years. Maximus froze solid on the floor as one rat ran across the length of the space and into a hole in the corner. Another rat poked its head out from underneath a cupboard and ran away into the same hole as well. “For christ sakes…” He reached into his right pocket and pulled out his phone and his fingers hovered over the lit screen for a couple of seconds as he thought of his next move. The Investment God System had given him a task, but there was no way he could work with this mobile kitchen in its current state. He didn’t want to accept it, but he definitely needed some help. He typed into his search engine— MECHANICS NEAR ME… Scrolled through reviews until he found one that seemed not to look fake and was trustworthy enough. He tapped the call button immediately. An hour later, a low truck rolled into the deserted alleyway and a middle aged man with grey beard and a frowned face poked his head out from the drivers seat window… “You don’t wanna how it took me to find this place… why is so deserted?” Maximus just shrugged his shoulders and gave the man an encouraging nod. “Good day to you too sir…” The mechanic chuckled and existed his vehicle before walking over to the truck and giving it a thorough visual inspection. “Phew! She has definitely seen better days!” he said as he bent flat on his belly to inspect the underside of the vehicle. “But it ain't something Ron and Jons can't fix…” Maximus raised an eyebrow. “Really?” “It's not the worst lady I've ever danced with… by the way we are the best in the area so she's in good hands…” After a few more minutes of inspection and mumbling to himself, the mechanic dusted off his hands and leaned against the truck, still giving it detectives glare. “We can tow it to the workshop and take care of the basics… you know the usual, clean it out, change the engine and patch up them leaky holes on the ceiling…” Maximus nodded as he listened to the mechanic speak. “So how much do you think the whole renovation is gonna cost…” “Huh! Tsk tsk tsk…” the mechanic stroked his grey beard several times over. “You're looking at about twelve hundred bucks my friend..” Coincidentally, or not, The rennovation cost was exactly the same as the system predicted. Maximus gave him the money and they towed the truck on the way to the workshop. The destination wasn’t far, and they arrived within 15 minutes to a modest building just behind a car wash and an old hardware convenience store. As soon as the truck unloaded at the workshop, the mechanics team got to work immediately. The hosed down the truck and scrubbed away as much as they could, eliminating years of dirt and debris. The engine had been blocked with mountains of dust and random junk. It was carefully dismantled and cleaned out too. Maximus watched from a nearby bench as the whole process was unfolding before his eyes. Soon enough, the truck began to look like it had a tint of life it is. By the time the mechanic called him over, the sun was starting to dip below the horizon. “Well… it not new, but it’s a hell of a whole lot better than it was” he said, wiping his hands with an oil rag. Maximus walked towards the truck, the exterior was scrubbed clean and the dents on the body were smoothed out as much as possible. The worn out tires were replaced and the mushy windows were now transperent as it should be. “I said its ready to use,” the mechanic said as he tapped Maximus on the back. Maximus nodded slightly as a proud smirk arched across his lips. “I can see that…” He climbed into the front seat and inserted the new key into the ingnition hole and twisted slightly. Grrr! The engine roared to life.Latest Chapter

Her blonde ponytail har framed her face as she sat quickly at a table, as her finger fiddled nervously with the hem of her sleeve. He wasn’t mistaken, it was her. Although she hadn't revealed her face.Across from her sat another girl, who seemed much more talkative, gesturing as she spoke.Maximus exhaled, his lips pressing into a neutral line not which action to take now. They had been texteing on and off, noting too deep, but enough that he knew she was the shy type. And just then, as if somehow sensing his gaze, she turned. The moment her blue eyes landed on him,her expression changed.A flicker of surpirse, then something softer- that signature shyness of hers. Her fingers immediately went to her lap, her shooulders hunching slightly. She didn’t lood away immediately, though. It was as if she was waiting for some kind of response.Maximus, ever composed and calm, simply gave a slight wave, nothing too dramatic, just a sign that he acknowledged her prescence.Lilys face turned sli

Maximus stepped onto the gravel path, the crushing sound of the gravel underneath his boots filled the air as he followed Zack toward the open stretch of land. The sun was high up in the air, casting a golden light over the horizon and a warm breeze drifted in from the distance. He could already smell the faint traces of salt in the air, meaning that the ocean wasn’t far from their current position. His gaze swept over the luxurious expanse before them. It was better than he had expected. The resort was in progress, standing proudly atop the land, already taking magnificent shape. From what he could see, most of the structure was complete, a grand main building that had a generous touch of modern elegance, tall windows reflecting the bright sky.Several smaller private villas dotted the landscape, their terraces facing what he assumed would be an artificial lagoon or private pool area. And just beyond: a pristine, untouched beach.Maximus let out a low whistle, he was utterly impresse

It was 10:43 PM.Joe Hart's building complex gleamed with ambition. Glass, steel, neon blue edge lights that screamed power.Maximus stepped off the bike and marched straight toward the entrance, three security guards in tailored suits intercepted him immediately.“Sir, no visitation are allowed at this time, unless you have and appointment.”“I don’t want one,” Maximus said coldly. “Joe hart owes me thirty million dollars. He's collecting rent off a property that is technically still mine, without paying me a dime.”One of the guards laughed. “Right. You'll need to take that up with his legal team, now step back.”From the balcony above, Joe Hart and Keith Hall leaned against the rails like smug kings on their thrones. They descended slowly, their suits pristine and their expressions dripping with mockery.“Maximus Prime,” Joe called, chuckling. “You really came all the way here for that chump change?”Keith grinned beside him. “Didn’t think you'd be so sentimental about pocket money

Maximus picked up his coffee absent mindedly before continuing to speak, “I’ll look through the numbers, and then we’ll talk ownership stakes. If it makes sense, we will move forward. If not, I might just start a resort of my own.”Zack whistled softly. “Damn, you really don’t play around do you?”Maximus dropped the cup of coffee back on the table. “Not when it comes to money, and time is money…”Zack chuckled, shaking his head. “Alright, I'll send you everything tonight. We'll talk again after you've gone through it.”Maximus nodded, standing up. “Sounds good Zaccheus…”They shook hands, sealing the deal. As Maximus walked out of the club and toward his bike, he knew the Investment God System would have a thing or two to say about the deal he just agreed to. He didn’t check it yet as he already knew what it was going to be about: Consequence of his decision. But Maximus wasn’t worried, he had a plan.“I always do…” he mused as he reached into his pocket, pulling leather gloves from

“A resort?” Maximus asked with a slight tilt of his head. Intrigue building up inside of him.“Yeah,” Zack said, his eyes lighting up upon seeing Maximus visibly interested. “Imagine it, a luxrury destination with everything you could think of. Top tier accomodadtions, dining, pools, spas, night life, you name it. A place where people can come to relax and let loose and have anunforgettable experience like non other… memories, families, couples, bonds! Think about it!”“Sounds… ambitious,” Maximus said, though he couldn’t dent the appeal of the idea.“Of course! It is very much ambitious,” Zack admitted. “but I've got the vision. And I have been researching locations, sketching out concepts, even talking to a few architects about where would be a suitable place in all of Central City. All I need right now is someone who can make this a reality.”Maximus released a slight frown, his fingers drumming against the bar. “And you think I am a suitable fit to make that a reality?”“Why not?”
Chapter 17
The next morning, Maximus woke up to the soft glow of sunlight streaming through the floor to ceiling windows of his bedroom. After a quick shower, he dressed casually in a crips black shirt and jeans. It was a simple look, but the quality of the clothes were more than the common man could afford.Grabbing his keys and sleek, futuristic helmet, he headed out to his power bike packed in the garage. The engine roared to life as he mounted it, the vibrations beneath him a satisfying reminder of the power it held.Maximus pulled up to the clubs entrance on his motorcycle, the engines deep rumble echoing in the queit midday atmosphere. The elegant valet personel stepped forward with a polite nod, his hands outstretched.Maximus handed over the keys and swung his leg off the bike, taking a moment to glance at the buildings sleek exterior.Even in the daylight, the club exuded the same aura as of the previous night but was dialed down several volumes. Stepping inside, a hostess greeted him
