“Kids! Breakfast’s ready! get down here before it gets cold!”. After the meal, the mood grew heavy. Lucian and Harry came down with their bags, where Velma and the kids waited by the door.
“Are you both done packing?” she asked. “Yeah, we’re ready,” Lucian said. Velma’s eyes shimmered as she pulled them into a hug. “My babies… take care of yourselves, and look out for each other, alright?” The younger children clung to them. In this little home of theirs all they had was themselves. Lucian forced a smile, swallowing the lump in his throat. “I promise, Velma. I’ll get strong enough so I can create a better life for us.” Harry grinned. “Count me in. I’ll bring him back in one piece.” A knock interrupted. A hunter in uniform stood at the door. “It’s time. The train to Solis City leaves soon.” “We’re ready to leave,” Harry said. “Bye, Velma! Bye, everyone! Take care of her, okay?” Lucian burned in his memory the faces of his modest family most especially Velma’s trembling smile. “Bye, Lucian! Bye, Harry! Don’t forget us!” one of the kids cried. He waved, jaw tight, and followed the hunter to a large bus rumbling at the end of the lane. Lucian onboarded the bus and noticed other kids his age, some nervous, some thrilled. He and Harry sat by the window. As the orphanage shrank from his view, Lucian whispered so faintly that only he could hear , “I’ll be back. I’ll get strong enough to give my family the life they deserve.” Together, they headed toward the train that would carry them to Solis, the capital city of the western province and the location of Astraea Hunter Academy. At the station, hunters guided them to a train unlike anything Lucian had seen in his life. Sleek metallic body, dark glassy sheen, neon lines pulsing with energy from beast crystals. “No way… this looks straight out of a movie,” a kid exclaimed. The interior had rows of cushioned seats that glowed under soft lights. Lucian and Harry stared in awe as the train attendant announced, “Welcome aboard the Silver Line Express. Please take your seats and enjoy the ride.” Harry let out a low whistle. “Are you seeing this? It’s like stepping into a floating palace.” Lucian ran his hand along the seat’s smooth surface. “Yeah... this isn’t a regular train. Look at those neon lights, self-adjusting seats... who even builds something like this?” Harry grinned, dropping into a seat. “Who cares? I could live here.” Lucian chuckled softly but kept glancing around, still amazed. “Let’s just hope it doesn’t fly off into some other realm.” Harry laughed. “At this point, I wouldn’t even complain.” "Everyone get seated! We’ll be reaching Solis in 30 minutes.” The train began to pick up speed. Lucian watched as the trees blurred past the window, realizing this wasn't just any train but a glimpse of the future. If beast-crystals could power something like this, what else was possible? The train began its journey and began to pick speed. Soon trees blurred, hills rolled by, and soon the silhouette of Solis city began to appear in the distance. Lucian pressed his forehead to the glass, breath fogging the window. Skyscrapers glowed like stars, and far beyond them rose the tallest spire in Astraea Academy. “Holy crap,” Harry muttered. “So this is Solis city. Now I see why they call it the City of Light.” The train curved downward into the city, slowing into Solis Central Station. The hunter guard was there to direct the students off the train. “Move carefully and follow the hunter ahead,” one barked. Outside of the train station, another coach bus waited. “Bro,” Lucian called the attention of Harry, “we moved from the bus to a train and now to a bus again? Isn't that weird, huh?” harry smirked. “its probably a safety protocol you know Hunters dig that stuff.” Passing through the city of Solis, Lucian looked out the window and saw the massive billboards, towering screens, the rush of people and traffic. When an rank 5 hunter’s image flashed on a screen, the kids in the cabin erupted in cheers. Harry leaned forward, eyes wide. “That’s Jirai Hamasaki! I heard he soloed a Class-A dungeon last month!”. Lucian glanced at the screen and saw a tall man in designer clothing, as he smiled for the cameras. “Hard to believe someone can reach that level of strength.” Harry laughed. “That’s the goal, isn’t it? Get strong enough to be able to clear a dungeon by yourself.” Lucian smirked faintly. “Maybe. I’d settle for surviving long enough to get a crowd first.” Harry elbowed him playfully. “Relax, man. When we make it big, I’m getting my face on one of those billboards — right next to yours.” Lucian looked out again, watching the city blur past. “Yeah,” he murmured. “One day.” “Feels like a different world,” Lucian whispered. Harry grabbed his shoulder. “Better get used to it, bro. This is going to be our home.” The bus doors hissed open. And the children began to disembark and step onto the gleaming stone tiles, sunlight reflecting off the vast courtyard before them. Every gaze was fixated on the academy ahead their faces displaying their excitement “Wow… this place is massive!” “Look at that tower!” “Is this really a school?” Astraea Academy was like a smallcity with vast walls, gleaming spires, and glass corridors that reflected sunlight. It gave off the vibe of an academic institute and stronghold. The campus was divided into North, South, East, and West wings. Each wing served a distinct purpose. The students were being guided toward the East Wing, where the training arena was located. Lucian stared in awe. “Is this the place is so vast I see why they only produce the best hunters ?” Soon they reached the arena and began trooping in their large numbers. Center of the stage stood an instructor with a crystal on a platform and combat dummy. “The entrance assessment is about to commence”Latest Chapter
chapter 13 - can't find a match
The library felt alive as students moved between the towering shelves, their fingers tracing the spines of books, their eyes sharp with focus. Some whispered to one another while Others stood in solitude, flipping through meditation manuals. Those from powerful backgrounds barely went to rows of meditation manuals. They marched straight to specific shelves that had skill books. Seeing a tall boy with a silver badge bypass the Warrior section entirely, Lucian thought to himself ”he's one of those that already train high-grade cultivation techniques since childhood.” He exhaled slowly, a puff of envy escaping his lips. “Must be nice to have the road paved in gold before you even take a step.” Not far away, Harry was already finishing up. He stood in the center of the Mage section, holding a manual Thunder-God breathing style. Harry skimmed the first few pages, a curious expression on his face, then nodded once. He tucked the lightning-attribute manual under his arm and headed to l
chapter 12 - Visit to the Library
The murmur of voices hadn’t settled since the lecture ended. Students poured out of the lecture hall in clusters, their expressions ranging from excitement to unease. The images Vian had showed portals vomiting hordes of beasts, humanoid creatures standing amid ruined cities still lingered in their minds like an afterimage burned into the eye. It was hard to shake off the sight of cities being reduced to nothing. Lucian walked alongside a group of friends, his gaze lowered in deep thought. “So… did you see that thing?” a bronze student whispered, glancing around as if the walls might hear him. “That humanoid beast. They said it killed 5 star hunters.” “what really,” another replied nervously. “And they’re calling it a Lower Dragon? What the hell are higher ones gonna be capable of? If a 5 star hunter doesn't stand a chance what chance do we have.” The fear in the air was thick enough to taste. For the bronze students, the reality of their profession as hunters was crashing dow
chapter 11 - First Class
The lecture hall was vast, built to seat hundreds, the atmosphere was full of chatter as students filed in Without being told, they arranged themselves according to the color of the metal pinned to their chests. The Gold badges filled the front rows, Silver badges took the center while the Bronze badges were seated at the back. As they entered, all eyes drifted towards both of them. Harry hesitant to part ways glanced at Lucian. “Gosh can't they chill with the hierarchy bullshit” “Don’t worry, bro,” Lucian said quietly, forcing a small smile. “Just go ahead sit with your peers at the front I’ll be fine at the back.” His eyes flicked to the crowded Bronze section, then back to the front where others were watching to see if they'll repeat what they did earlier at breakfast. “We’ll catch up after class,” Lucian added, giving him a nudge. “Same as always.” After a second’s hesitation, Harry nodded. He clapped Lucian’s shoulder once before heading toward the Gold row. Lucia

The 6:00 AM alarm jolted the students from their sleep. Minutes later, the scent of breakfast—a warm medley of eggs, sausages, and roasted potatoes—hit Lucian's nose as he entered the massive, brightly lit cafeteria. But as he stepped deeper, the aroma couldn't mask the display of classism in the hall. The room was a map of status. Bronze tables were shoved into the shadows at the far end. Silver sat in the middle, separated by a deliberate gap. Closest to the buffet stood the Gold tables, gleaming under the center lights. While everyone had basic eggs and toast, the Golds enjoyed a spread of fresh smoothies, grilled chicken, and protein bowls.Lucian reached the Bronze line and picked up a flimsy plastic tray. The server didn't even look up."Bronze?""Yes."A scoop of wet, plain eggs landed on his tray with a dull thud, followed by two dry slices of toast."Next."Lucian found a seat among the quiet, huddled groups of Bronze students. He took a sip of his juice, scanning the room un
Chapter 9 Difference in rank
Each cultivation stages for a hunter is divided into early, middle and peak stages. There are 9 hunter ranks each stage with its own bottleneck. The more talented a hunter is, the easier it is for them to break through the internal barrier and advance. The less talented the more time it'll take them to advance past their bottleneck. Instructor Brann clapped his hands sharply, the sound cutting through the quiet celebration. "Enough. The celebration ends now. You've passed the entrance, but that just means you're qualified to struggle. Your real training starts tomorrow." A ripple of nervous tension replaced the brief joy. Then, a new figure stepped forward. She was tall and severe, her uniform impeccable, her hair pulled into a sharp ponytail. "I am Instructor Vian. I formally welcome you to Astraea Academy." Her eyes scanned the crowd,. "Your first lesson in our world is this: nothing is given. Everything is earned." She gestured, and several teachers moved about the arena, hand
Chapter 8 - hunter test
"Silence!" Instructor Brann’s voice cracked like a whip, and the arena fell into a tense, immediate hush. Hundreds of hopeful students stared up at him. “My name is Brann. I will be conducting this assessment, so listen well. Your future here depends on it.” He let his gaze sweep over them. “Every one of you falls into one of two classes: Warrior or Mage. Warriors rely on physical power, speed, and defense, channeling mana into their bodies. Mages wield special abilities, from elemental manipulation to healing.” He gestured to a large, glowing crystal to his left. “The assessment is in two parts. First, the mana-evaluation crystal will ascertain your current stage and class.” He then pointed a thick finger toward a humanoid figure in the center of the combat platform. “Second, you will face that training dummy in combat. Do not underestimate it.” The dummy was a formidable sight, a mannequin wrapped in segmented black rubber plates that resembled obsidian armor. The testing
