Everyone halted as they heard that shrill voice. They were quite surprised and of course, they wanted to continue to watch the scene being displayed.
Ethan turned around to see Becca staring at him with a livid look. But she folded her arms, trying to look sassy. “Did you just speak to me?” Ethan asked, wondering if she had gone nuts to demand an explanation now. “Yes, I did. And I am asking you to explain yourself this instant.” Becca replied and Ethan frowned in displeasure. He used to look at Becca as a classy girl but now she paled in comparison. She didn't even care if everyone was looking at her weirdly. “What is there to explain?” Ethan asked with a shrug of his shoulders. He looked like he wasn't bothered and he just wanted to leave but then Becca wouldn't let him. “You are asking me that? You lied to me all these while and never even told me you had money. You gave me just measly amounts and now you show up as an honored guest of The Star Hotel. Of course, you do owe me an explanation!” She thundered and there was some buzzing noise in the lobby. However, Ethan stood there with his hands crossed behind his back. At first, a smile formed on his face, and then he laughed out loud. His laughter was filled with mockery and disdain. “Becca…” He called out to her as his laughter seized and now he was looking at her with an indifferent look. She stepped back with a fearful look on her face as she had never seen Ethan look at her that way. “You were never appreciative of whatever I did for you. Tell me, why should I tell you I am rich? So you could suck me dry?” He asked and then a sarcastic smile formed on his face and then low chuckles. “You…” Becca let out, shaking with anger while she pointed a shaky finger at Ethan. She was tempted to poke his eyes to stop him from laughing. She looked around and surprisingly, almost everyone started to point fingers at Becca now, calling her a gold digger. Those people were accusing Ethan of being a thief a while ago and now the tables had turned. This only meant that power and money ruled the majority of people. “Manager Thorn, this drama is getting too much,” Ethan said while he waved his hands nonchalantly, signaling that he wanted them out. “Yes, Mr. Ethan,” Thorn replied and immediately he beckoned on the receptionist to get the security guards. Two minutes later, three security guards came rushing into the lobby. “Mr. Bastien, Miss Becca, everyone else, please leave.” The receptionist spoke this time and Becca saw the security guards coming for them. She ran to meet Ethan, falling at his feet as she didn't want to be thrown out. “Please, Ethan. Forgive me. I will do whatever you want. Please don't throw me out.” She pleaded, holding onto his legs. She recalled how Ethan used to love her so much and she believed he would hear her out. He couldn’t have gotten over her, in just a few days, right? “Becca! Stop this!” Ray called out from behind, shocked that she switched sides so quickly. “I love you.” She let out coyly, looking up at Ethan and totally ignoring Ray. Ethan looked down at her with a slight smile on his face and Becca was glad that he was melting. She held onto him tighter. Again, everyone watched to see the show unfold. Slowly, Ethan took hold of Becca and raised her up while still maintaining his smile. At this point, Becca was giddy and she was sure he was going to take her back. She tried to hug him while she sent a glare across to Ray who was shaking in embarrassment. However, Ethan pushed her with so much force, that she was sent crashing into Ray’s body. “Get her out! This instant!” He ordered and the guards all chorused their acceptance in unison. They dragged Becca alongside her companions while she screamed and tossed around, calling and cursing at Ethan. “This way, please, Mr. Ethan,” Thorn spoke up as Becca and Ray were being escorted out of the lobby while other guests settled down. Ethan followed after Thorn as if he took no part in what just happened. Soon, they were all in the manager’s office and he brought out several documents for the hotel. Apart from the main branch of The Star Hotel which they were in, the hotel had several branches outside the city and even outside the country. “Please, sign these and we will be done. A detailed report of the hotel’s affairs will be compiled and sent to your email soon.” Thorn explained as Ethan scanned through the change of ownership documents. It was surreal to him but it was indeed happening. He was no longer going to be a worker who lived from paycheck to paycheck. “All done,” Ethan said as he signed the last part of his document. “I look forward to working with you, boss.” Thorn stood up and bowed slightly and Ethan just waved his hand, dismissing him. After all that, he walked out of the office and out of the hotel. Thorn had already booked a ride for him since he didn't come with a car. Ethan got out of the hotel to see the car waiting for him by the roadside. However, a few steps away from the car, five men rushed out, blocking him from getting to the car and five other men blocked him from getting back into the hotel.

Taking Their Women
“There is no way you wouldn't want to marry me, Ethan!” Erin screamed, piercing through the silence in the car. Her face was twisted like a knot and he had never seen her so terrifying. “What do you mean? I never promised to do that!” He snapped at her. “I have never vowed my undying loyalty to you, why should I do that now?”“Because I have sacrificed so much to be by your side. I neglected my family, neglected my job just to live as your woman and yet, you still don't see that as anything.” She continued to scream with tears streaming down her eyes. Ethan could only purse his lips, knowing a large part of her words were true. Her job complications arose just from her clashing with the higher powers that tried to bring her down and he was also entangled with it. However, he never told her to stay away from her family. In fact, he never even spoke about her family with her. Neglecting her family was everything she did on her own but Ethan wasn't going to say that out loud because s
Let’s Get Married
Seeing Baron’s surrender, Ethan’s eyes dimmed in suspicion as he couldn't readily believe that this minister would easily relent. After all, he was proud and cocky. “Alright, start speaking.” He urged but before Baron could start, he spoke up again, “And if you dare lie to me, you are dead.”Baron frantically nodded, his eyes filled with too much fear to even lie and his first sentence shocked Ethan so well. “I wasn't the one who helped Genie out of prison.” Minister Baron began and Ethan quickly sat up in his seat, realizing it was about to get serious. “I only served as a connection between her and the other person. My only benefit was to come out of prison and become a minister again as a placeholder. This position isn't controlled by me, it’s for the benefit of that person.”Ethan was surprised at the outcome of things. No wonder Baron was a show-off. Empty people tend to make the loudest noise. “Who is this other person you are in contact with, huh? And what did Genie offer t
Dead Eyes
Even though Erin was visibly raging, Ethan sat down coolly staring at her with a blank gaze. He recalled how she had begged to be involved in the case, and yet, she let her emotions lead her. “You have ten seconds to leave, Erin. You are no longer involved in this.” He warned her. “Why?” She snapped, “First, you deceived me into thinking you wouldn't be coming and here you are. I brought you both here! If anyone should be taken out of this, it’s Mason, who stood up to leave abruptly. He ruined the whole thing before my family—”“I ordered him to do so…”“What?” She gasped. “You let your emotions rule over you, Erin. You are not fit for this.” Ethan waved his hand. “Leave before it’s too late.”However, it was obvious she wasn't ready to leave at all. Quickly, Ethan signaled Mason to get her out.“What will you do…hmmm…” Mason quickly covered her mouth, muffling her words. At the same time, he held her body together making her thrash, trying to get away from his grip but then, he wa
A Simple Note
One day later…Mason held Erin by the arm, walking her into the grand venue to greet her family for the night. He had a gift box in hand, looking very charming but then he had his eyes scanning the room. His glasses, which complemented his black tailored suit had tiny cameras on them, sending live feed of the event to Ethan. Mason gently scanned the hall but Minister Baron was nowhere to be seen. Though there were other government officials of his caliber in the event, no one seemed to be concerned about his absence. “Are you sure Baron is going to be here?” He asked Erin who clutched his hand rigidly. “Well, I don’t know.” She hissed. “We will have to find out.”Ever since Ethan switched up on her last minute, she had been gloomy. She thought she was going to show him off for once before the high society and her family but he was a step before her. Deep in her mind, she hoped Baron wouldn't even appear! Her grievance overshadowed her reasoning, her emotions rising to an all-time
Erin’s Happiness
Driving into his mansion, Ethan had his fingers on his chin, deep in thoughts. Getting to minister Baron would be a long walk especially when trying to get him involved in the scam case. Minister Baron had a lot of power on his side, one that definitely aided him in getting Genie out of prison. Fighting against such a man might be a lot of toll. Ethan had to strategize the perfect plan and not just go in rashly. But then he knew the minister would get news about Genie’s disappearance. Would it be soon and would he be able to trace it back to Ethan? As he got out of the car, he realized there was no way it could be traced back to him. After all, his men had done a clean job. He spotted Erin right outside the building looking very worried and he wanted to ignore her completely but then, as she quickly approached the car, he became concerned. “Ethan, Eva is not in the house.” She said, shocking him. “And why would you care?” He raised a brow, suspicion stirring in his mind. “Uhmmm…”
The Raging Old Man
Genie was immensely surprised that Ethan knew about Elvis Chris and the Minister. She had truly underestimated her biggest opponent. It was easy to conquer her husband but Ethan, it didn't seem so. But at the same time, she wondered how he got to know. Everything she did was securely under wraps and only a few people knew she was out of prison. “You want to know how I got out of prison, right?” She tilted her head to the side, her gaze scanning. Ethan pursed his lips, seeing the way she stared at him like a specimen under scrutiny. “You amaze me, Ethan.” She chuckled. “You were able to find out about the minister and Elvis, yet you couldn't find out about such a simple thing. Are your resources limited?” Ethan didn't react to her provocative words just like she wanted, instead, his smile was cool, one that made her swallow. “You know what?” He grinned, his eyes darkening sending warning bells in her head. “I don't need to know how you got out.” He slowly stood up to his feet, a
