“These bastards.” Daven cursed, annoyed that they were now trying to help his father after he had notified them of what was wrong. He didn't know what these doctors were thinking!
In his mind, he vowed that if his father should die, he was going to bring down the hospital. A few minutes later, James King was finally back to normal and the doctor’s left his side. Daven watched them, with a death glare as they approached him. “Mr. King, we apologize for our misunderstanding earlier. Do you mind telling us where you got diagnosis of your father's tumor?” The doctor asked. “Does that matter now?” Daven hissed. “Shouldn’t you be scheduling his surgery now?” “Not immediately. We have to conduct an MRI scan this time. It will give us a better view of what we are dealing with here…” “Then do it!” Daven pressed. “How much do you need? Tell me…” The doctor smiled wryly, seeing Daven’s worry. He assured Daven that his father was going to be alright after they ran the test. As they left, Daven watched them with the urge to sue the whole hospital for their negligence but then he knew he needed to take things slow. Time passed and the doctor came up to Daven again with a worried look. “I am afraid you are right about your father’s tumor, Mr. King.” The doctor looked embarrassed. “Are you going to schedule the surgery now?” Daven fisted his hands, trying not blow up on the doctor. “Yes…But there is a problem.” The doctor stuttered. “The head surgeon who is to lead the surgery is not in right now. We have to wait.” “Wait? Until when?” Daven frowned. “We will inform you of the proceedings. For now, your father has to stay admitted to the hospital…” The doctor’s words drowned out as Daven was already thinking of the next solution. The hospital, even though it was so big couldn't get another surgeon to help his father. Both the hospital and the doctors were thrash! Also, Daven realized money wasn't enough. He had his father admitted to the best hospital, yet money couldn't bring a damn surgeon to help him. “What do I do?” He held his head, trying to think. And then once again, the system’s voice resounded in his head. [Attention, Daven King! A new mission has arrived.] Immediately, Daven perked up, hoping that the System would provide him a way. [Find the head surgeon, make him operate on your father and become his student. Do this and unlock the level 2 of the Medical System.] “What?” Daven gasped, not expecting such a task. But still, he knew he had to do whatever the system said. “Mr. King, are you listening to me?” The doctor touched Daven to get his attention. Swiftly, Daven caught the doctor’s arm, with a fierce gaze. “Tell me, where does this head surgeon live?” He asked. “What? I can’t tell you that–” “Well, it will be too late to tell me by the time the whole nation hears about your negligence today. You neglected my complaints about my father, didn't you?” Daven grinned wickedly. “Everything is caught on camera, isn’t it?” Daven’s subtle threat caused the doctor to spill every bit of information he knew. It turned out that the head surgeon was attending an event that day. Without thinking twice, Daven got a taxi and went straight to the event. However, when he got to the entrance, he was stopped immediately. “You can’t go in.” A guard stopped Daven with a mocking gaze. “You are dressed so poorly and yet you want to enter into a meeting consisting of doctors?” “I want to meet Doctor Blackman! Let me through!” Daven wasn't fazed by the guard at all. But an unexpected voice echoed behind him, “Why do you want to see my father, fishtail?” That voice. That mocking nickname. It only reminded him of someone. Gerald. Slowly, Daven turned around to see Gerald dressed in a suit, a sharp contrast to the jerk he was. “Are you here to beg my father?” He asked. “Doctor Blackman is your father?” Daven raised his brows with a mocking gaze which caught Gerald off guard. “How dare you! Get your eyes away–” “Gerald! This is not the place.” A thundering voice came from behind Gerald and Daven looked up to see Doctor Blackman incoming with a train of doctors behind him. “Who is he?” Doctor Blackman pointed at Daven. “Father, he is a nuisance from school.” Gerald said meekly, a sharp change in his voice. “Nice to meet you, Doctor Blackman.” Daven took the opportunity to step forward, his gaze filled with reverence. “I am here for you–” “Step back! Daven! Are you out of your mind?” Gerald tried to drag Daven away but with one jab, Daven threw him off. He continued, “My father has Glioblastoma of grade IV and he needs immediate surgery. The tumor was not detectable with a CT scan and then an MRI was done…” Daven went into detail, speaking of his father’s ailment. He got the doctors to standstill and listen to him and when he was finally done, they were all in awe. “You…” Doctor Blackman pointed at Daven, surprised. “How do you know all this?” Before Daven could speak, Gerald intervened, “Don’t listen to him, father. He is just a load of crap!” “Me? A load of crap? Do you even have any idea of whatever is being said here?” Daven shot back at Gerald angrily. However, this attitude didn't sit well with Blackman at all. He had always been embarrassed that his son, Gerald never wanted to become a doctor. And now seeing someone like Daven overshadowing his son, he felt even more embarrassed. “You shouldn't talk so rashly, Daven.” Doctor Blackman intervened. “I haven't accepted to do your father’s surgery yet, you know?” There was a subtle threat in Blackman’s words but Daven was determined to keep challenging them. “What must I do for you to accept then?” He asked. “Good.” Blackman smiled, determined to get rid of Daven. “What is the most basic process to remove such tumor from your father’s brain?” Blackman asked. He knew that it was impossible for Daven to know that. He was sure all the knowledge Daven had just spouted earlier, was probably gotten from the internet. “If you fail this question, you will be thrown out of here this minute and your father's surgery will not be done by me.” Blackman declared. Hearing his father’s words, Gerald smiled in glee. The dumb smelly cleaner would never know such a thing.Latest Chapter
Giving Up The System
Daven frowned, his eyes going dim as his mind whirled with several thoughts. The danger. Was it the old man who claimed to be Carlos Deck? Or was it—”“Where is my son?” She snapped.“Ohh…” He let out, finally realizing what she really wanted. “I don't know why you are asking me that.”“Shouldn't you ask the police or something? Don’t you know your son tried to kill me, and Elena today?”“Elena…” She whispered, with a slithering wickedness in her voice. “I heard she is okay, and at the hospital.”“Do you think she is still there?” “What?” Daven let out as it clicked in his mind. “Yeah, that’s right…” She snickered, laughing out loud. “This is what happens when you touch what you are not supposed to touch. What do you think will happen to her if she is unhooked from the machines keeping her alive?”“She has 1 hour to live, Daven. Bring my son to me and get her back!”“You bitch!” He seethed, eyes going red with veins lining his head and neck.He had left Elena at the hospital with A
Carlos Deck
[Attention Daven King! Save Gerald Blackman! You have one hour to complete this mission.]Daven almost laughed out loud when he heard those words. The same Gerald he wanted to punish and even wanted dead? He had to save that bastard? No way!“Is there a consequence?” He asked. “If there is, I will gladly take it. I don’t care about that bastard’s life.”The system went silent and Daven let out a small sigh. By the time he came back to his senses, he saw the old man looking straight at him with creased brows.“Can you hear me now?”“Of course….” Daven nodded. “Were you saying something?”“Do you want to give him treatment? If you give the word, they will get an ambulance here…”The old man’s cold voice and the absence of emotion in his eyes when he spoke of Gerald amazed Daven. Even though this wasn't the first time he had seen it, he was surprised every single time.“No…” He shook his head. “If he dies, then that is his fate.”“Are you sure?” The old man asked. However, Daven shrugged
Incoming Bomb
Daven had successfully caused a ruckus as the school's forum hunted down Dayna. He had also revealed the voice recording he made earlier that day. And though he knew the committee might not punish her for her false statement, she would suffer a lot of backlash. He drove on the highway, in the night and as his car pulled up into the West mansion, his phone lit up. He glanced at it for a moment to see that it was his father calling. At that moment, Daven couldn't help the smile that spread across his lips as he connected the call.He didn't say a word, but only listened to his father's heavy breathing, and a few seconds later, he finally spoke up, "Daven, help...""Help?" He sneered, with raised brows. "How may I help you, Mr. James King?""What?" His father gasped. "James King? Why would you speak to me that way?""Your time is running out..." Daven ignored his question as he gave a subtle warning. "I have somewhere important to be.""Is anything more important than your father? Your

The hallway turned silent, as Daven stared at the old man intensely. He just needed something to hold onto, since the proposal couldn't be trusted completely. However, the old man shook his head, “I can’t let you know that.”“Like I told you. Only after you agree to the proposal would you know the details and everything you want to know, you will, after that.”“Is that so?” Daven raised a brow, as his trust dwindled. He raised his hand to wave and dismiss the old man, but then OR door was suddenly pushed open. Two nurses rushed out, and Daven immediately stood in their way, panicked.“What’s going on?” He asked.“Please, step aside…” They quickly pushed him aside, but then he saw their distress too. As they disappeared and reappeared down the hallway, they carried a box containing blood bags and Daven’s heart couldn't help but sink further, wondering if Elena would survive.“With all you have seen, wouldn’t you take my proposal? I don’t think you can stand the rage any longer…”He cl
Gerald’s Doom
It was a precise shot, one that had the whole school in a chokehold. Gerald had long trained his marksmanship and Daven protecting Elena behind him was nothing.Bang!Blood spurted out in the blink of an eye, as the bullet hit Elena right in her chest. The school was in a complete disarray immediately as Elena fell into Daven’s arms. He clutched her bleeding chest, just enough pressure to stop the blood. He then patted her face repeatedly, “Elena!”“Someone call an ambulance!” He heard Ari’s voice behind him. And at the same time, he was trying to pull up the system stats in his mind. However, at that moment, he was completely disoriented and afraid that the only woman who stood by his side would die because of him.The system didn’t even give him a mission to save her!“Step aside, Daven…” Ari pulled on his arm, but he held on to her still. He felt her pulse, how faint it was, and the way her skin was turning pale and cold.“Please, don’t die…” He muttered. “Step aside, Daven! The Trigger
Daven couldn’t help but keep thinking back to his teacher and the Dean, wondering what was happening between them. The System had said Frederick was dangerous, and he hoped his teacher was fine.As he walked back to his school building, deciding to lay off going to Maya’, he received a call from Elena.Quickly, he connected the call and her panicked voice rang out, “Hey, where are you?”“I am at…” His eyes roamed around. “The school’s center—”“Oh shit!” She cursed. “Get away from there! Gerald is looking all over you. Ari says he has a gun.”“What?” He gasped.“Yes! Get the hell out.”Elena ended the call the next second and Daven looked around, checking his surroundings. He had expected Gerald to appear in rage, but he didn't expect the bastard would be so brazen to wield a gun.“Stupid…” He chuckled, with no ounce of fear in his eyes. And he knew no matter where he went, Gerald would always come after him. So, he walked casually around, but his eyes were on every nook and cranny.
