“These bastards.” Daven cursed, annoyed that they were now trying to help his father after he had notified them of what was wrong. He didn't know what these doctors were thinking!

In his mind, he vowed that if his father should die, he was going to bring down the hospital.

A few minutes later, James King was finally back to normal and the doctor’s left his side. Daven watched them, with a death glare as they approached him.

“Mr. King, we apologize for our misunderstanding earlier. Do you mind telling us where you got diagnosis of your father's tumor?” The doctor asked.

“Does that matter now?” Daven hissed. “Shouldn’t you be scheduling his surgery now?”

“Not immediately. We have to conduct an MRI scan this time. It will give us a better view of what we are dealing with here…”

“Then do it!” Daven pressed. “How much do you need? Tell me…”

The doctor smiled wryly, seeing Daven’s worry. He assured Daven that his father was going to be alright after they ran the test. As they left, Daven watched them with the urge to sue the whole hospital for their negligence but then he knew he needed to take things slow.

Time passed and the doctor came up to Daven again with a worried look.

“I am afraid you are right about your father’s tumor, Mr. King.” The doctor looked embarrassed.

“Are you going to schedule the surgery now?” Daven fisted his hands, trying not blow up on the doctor.

“Yes…But there is a problem.” The doctor stuttered. “The head surgeon who is to lead the surgery is not in right now. We have to wait.”

“Wait? Until when?” Daven frowned.

“We will inform you of the proceedings. For now, your father has to stay admitted to the hospital…”

The doctor’s words drowned out as Daven was already thinking of the next solution. The hospital, even though it was so big couldn't get another surgeon to help his father.

Both the hospital and the doctors were thrash!

Also, Daven realized money wasn't enough. He had his father admitted to the best hospital, yet money couldn't bring a damn surgeon to help him.

“What do I do?” He held his head, trying to think.

And then once again, the system’s voice resounded in his head.

[Attention, Daven King! A new mission has arrived.]

Immediately, Daven perked up, hoping that the System would provide him a way.

[Find the head surgeon, make him operate on your father and become his student. Do this and unlock the level 2 of the Medical System.]

“What?” Daven gasped, not expecting such a task. But still, he knew he had to do whatever the system said.

“Mr. King, are you listening to me?” The doctor touched Daven to get his attention. Swiftly, Daven caught the doctor’s arm, with a fierce gaze.

“Tell me, where does this head surgeon live?” He asked.

“What? I can’t tell you that–”

“Well, it will be too late to tell me by the time the whole nation hears about your negligence today. You neglected my complaints about my father, didn't you?” Daven grinned wickedly.

“Everything is caught on camera, isn’t it?” Daven’s subtle threat caused the doctor to spill every bit of information he knew.

It turned out that the head surgeon was attending an event that day. Without thinking twice, Daven got a taxi and went straight to the event.

However, when he got to the entrance, he was stopped immediately.

“You can’t go in.” A guard stopped Daven with a mocking gaze. “You are dressed so poorly and yet you want to enter into a meeting consisting of doctors?”

“I want to meet Doctor Blackman! Let me through!” Daven wasn't fazed by the guard at all.

But an unexpected voice echoed behind him, “Why do you want to see my father, fishtail?”

That voice. That mocking nickname. It only reminded him of someone. Gerald.

Slowly, Daven turned around to see Gerald dressed in a suit, a sharp contrast to the jerk he was.

“Are you here to beg my father?” He asked.

“Doctor Blackman is your father?” Daven raised his brows with a mocking gaze which caught Gerald off guard.

“How dare you! Get your eyes away–”

“Gerald! This is not the place.” A thundering voice came from behind Gerald and Daven looked up to see Doctor Blackman incoming with a train of doctors behind him.

“Who is he?” Doctor Blackman pointed at Daven.

“Father, he is a nuisance from school.” Gerald said meekly, a sharp change in his voice.

“Nice to meet you, Doctor Blackman.” Daven took the opportunity to step forward, his gaze filled with reverence. “I am here for you–”

“Step back! Daven! Are you out of your mind?” Gerald tried to drag Daven away but with one jab, Daven threw him off.

He continued, “My father has Glioblastoma of grade IV and he needs immediate surgery. The tumor was not detectable with a CT scan and then an MRI was done…”

Daven went into detail, speaking of his father’s ailment. He got the doctors to standstill and listen to him and when he was finally done, they were all in awe.

“You…” Doctor Blackman pointed at Daven, surprised. “How do you know all this?”

Before Daven could speak, Gerald intervened, “Don’t listen to him, father. He is just a load of crap!”

“Me? A load of crap? Do you even have any idea of whatever is being said here?” Daven shot back at Gerald angrily.

However, this attitude didn't sit well with Blackman at all. He had always been embarrassed that his son, Gerald never wanted to become a doctor. And now seeing someone like Daven overshadowing his son, he felt even more embarrassed.

“You shouldn't talk so rashly, Daven.” Doctor Blackman intervened. “I haven't accepted to do your father’s surgery yet, you know?”

There was a subtle threat in Blackman’s words but Daven was determined to keep challenging them.

“What must I do for you to accept then?” He asked.

“Good.” Blackman smiled, determined to get rid of Daven.

“What is the most basic process to remove such tumor from your father’s brain?” Blackman asked. He knew that it was impossible for Daven to know that. He was sure all the knowledge Daven had just spouted earlier, was probably gotten from the internet.

“If you fail this question, you will be thrown out of here this minute and your father's surgery will not be done by me.” Blackman declared.

Hearing his father’s words, Gerald smiled in glee. The dumb smelly cleaner would never know such a thing.

Do not hesitate to reach out to me.”“I appreciate your kind gesture.” Daven broke into a genuine smile and bowed slightly. A smile broke out on his face seeing that the old

“You must be out of your fucking mind, Daven!” Lady West cut in, her chest heaving. “How the hell did you even get in here?”“That’s enough, Maria.” the patriarch cautioned, however, she wasn't about to let go. “Father, you can’t be deceived by that boy!” She warned as she walked back to him. Her eyes stared at him pleadingly. “Deceived?” He chuckled. “Daven has proven himself before me. It’s you who is so blind to see his potential.”“How can you let someone who is clearly against your daughter into the house when you wouldn't even let your grandson in?” She yelled. Her eyes were red, and a sharp glint of displeasure flashed in them. The patriarch took a pause, his hands fisting beside him. “Do not mention that good-for-nothing to me anymore.” He pointed sharply at her, and alarm bells were already ringing in Lady West’s ears but she chose to ignore it. “You don’t get it, do you? • A Mystery He Had To Unravel

Daven followed the patriarch into the mansion and they walked into the study where the incident had happened. The blood was still all over, evidence of the injury the old man had sustained. However, the patriarch went past it and sat at his table, his legs crossed over. He stared at Daven with meaningful eyes, wondering where he had encountered the young man before.“You are injured. You should treat yourself.” He pointed at the first aid box which had been left lying around. Daven darted his eyes suspiciously from the box to the blood and then to the old man, wondering if he was not going to say anything. He was deliberately ignoring the obvious and Daven was going to keep it that way until the matter was tabled. He got to the first aid box and brought out a few things to treat himself as the old man watched keenly. “You and I know what happened, right?” The patriarch finally spoke up and Daven froze. However, he only pursed his lips and didn't say a word to the patriarch. “I wa

  • No Fear Of Death

Daven moved like a flash, catching the sharp end of the knife in his hand and it dug deeply into his palm, his blood dripping heavily. “You dare stand in our way!” The man who had appeared all of a sudden barked. He looked just like the muscular man from earlier and it was obvious they worked together. He dragged the knife right out of Daven’s hand and was about to stab him in the face once again when Daven pulled back. He had no patience left to fight this man and so, he ran into the room he had approached earlier, and as soon as he got in, he opened his mouth in shock. The servants from earlier who had attended to him were huddled up inside. Some had gotten injured and their blood spilled all over the room. “Shit!” Daven cursed as he realized this was a full-blown attack on the entire West mansion. Before the punch could land on his face, he dodged to the side, catching the man off guard. The muscular man lost balance in that moment and staggered forward to the wall, while Daven quickly ran toward the door. As soon as he got in, he locked the door with a snap of his fingers. He let out a deep breath before slowly turning around to see that he was in a study room with a strong smell of blood. He jumped the moment he saw the patriarch’s body right on the floor with a bloody knife by his side. The old man clutched his stab wound, breathing heavily like he was about to take his last breath. “Shit!” Daven cursed and quickly rushed to him.
