Faced with that question, Daven remained calm because the System had already provided him with everything he needed to know about the illness and all he needed to do was to search for it.

However, Gerald didn't see it that way. Seeing the way Daven was staring blankly, he thought Daven had gone frozen in fear.

He gloated, “Father, why would you ask him such a question? I didn't tell you earlier, but he is just a cleaner back at school. He is barely even a student.”

“Really?” Doctor Blackman raised his brows, in wonder. He noticed Daven’s clothes were shabby and his face rough with callused fingers. Gerald’s words seemed to be true.

“Yes, father. You shouldn't waste your time speaking to him. Look, your colleagues are waiting.” Gerald pressed, with a smile. All he wanted to do was get rid of Daven.

“Yes, Doctor Blackman. The event is about to start. We can’t keep waiting for someone who doesn't even know what he is doing…” The doctors started to complain.

On the other hand, Blackman couldn't deny that he had a little hope in Daven. Especially how he had seen how Daven explained his father’s illness which his son would never be able to do.

But seeing how Daven was so lost, he decided to listen to Gerald and the doctors.

“Alright, get him out of here.” Blackman waved his hand and proceeded to walk toward the entrance.

Gerald smiled with glee, rushing to grab Daven but immediately he did, Daven finally spoke.

“We are not done, Doctor Blackman. I haven't answered your question!” His words caused the doctors to stop with Gerald frowning immediately.

“What more do you want to do?” Gerald gritted his teeth angrily. “Don’t you see you don’t belong here?” He wanted to punch Daven straight in the face, but he had to compose himself before his father.

“Gerald, why are you stopping me? Are you afraid that I will answer the question correctly?” Daven turned on him, an idea sneaking into his mind.

“Me? Afraid? What do you know?” Gerald sneered.

“Well, why don’t we make a deal then?” Daven’s smile grew. “If I answer the question right, will you surrender yourself to the police for running me over?”

Those words hit Gerald like a lightning bolt and he looked at his father who immediately frowned in confusion.

“What are you saying?” Gerald barked, trying to mask his turmoil. “How can the son of a prestigious man like my father run you over? I have some dignity to maintain!”

Gerald knew there was nothing his father valued more than upholding the family name, so he was going to bank on that.

“Yes, Daven.” Blackman stepped forward, his gaze stern. “You can’t speak so ill of my son that way. If you do, you are insulting me too. Watch your words!”

“You have done nothing here than show off the little knowledge you have and cause trouble! You even delayed us all here. It’s time for you to leave.” Blackman was visibly annoyed.

Before these doctors, Daven was about to tarnish his family’s image and he didn't like that.

“I already called security, father. Don’t worry.” Gerald smiled calmly, feeling like things were in his control. A second later, three hefty security men rushed forward and he pointed at Daven.

“Take him away! Don’t let him set foot within ten meters of the entrance. Do you understand?” Gerald barked the orders. The men got to work, laying their hands on Daven.

However, Daven wasn’t fazed, and as the men tried to push him out, he blurted out, “Your question is quite simple to answer, Doctor Blackman.”

Again, they all halted.

“Opening a brain and the skull can be thrilling but the real thrilling thing is to locate the tumor precisely and take out as much as you can without damaging the blood vessels!”

Those words were not the direct explanation but they revolved around whatever Blackman was asking. And with the way Daven warped his words, it impressed the doctors too.

“Put him down!” Blackman ordered immediately, looking at Daven with an intrigued gaze.

“But, father…” Gerald protested, rushing to stand before his father.

However, Blackman pushed him aside, going straight to Daven.

“Young boy, do you perhaps study medicine or have any interest in it?” Blackman’s eyes shone. No matter how Daven got the answer, he didn't care, he was just very intrigued that a young man who was just like his brainless son had such knowledge.

Daven took a deep breath, “No, I do not study medicine. I am just a cleaner and a student.”

Immediately, Blackman’s eyes dimmed in disappointment. “It’s a shame.”

“However, you have impressed me and so, I am going to do your father's surgery.” Blackman agreed, with a slight smile on his face.

“Really?” Daven asked, just to be sure.

Blackman nodded eagerly, “Would you like to watch while I do it?”

“Sure,” Daven didn't refuse at all, after all, it would be beneficial to him.

“Good.” Blackman liked that he at least had an interest. “You should come in with me. Right after the event, we will go straight to the hospital.”

“Yes.” Daven smiled, with a slight blow. When he straightened up again, he watched the doctors give him a commendable gaze as they walked in and he felt proud.

On the other hand, Gerald stood alone, fuming and glaring at Daven.

“What do you think you are doing?” Gerald snapped.

“Nothing.” Daven chuckled nonchalantly. “But I am quite surprised how different you are before your father, Gerald. You seem like an innocent dog–”

“Shut your mouth!” Gerald snapped again, gritting his teeth. He felt like it was a different Daven standing before him, not the timid and weak cleaner.

“Don’t be too hasty to shut me up...” Daven said, walking to stand beside Gerald before leaning toward his ear, he continued, “After all, there are a lot of things I can say to your father about you, right?”

“Count your days, Gerald.”

  • Ignoring The System

Maya’s rage-filled face spelled danger in Daven’s mind and just like he had thought, she went crazy. In the blink of an eye, she stormed in between the crowded students, rushing toward the road with an oncoming car. “Maya…” Daven muttered, and then his voice rose a notch higher. “Maya! No!”He moved without thinking, at twice the speed of hers. But it was a bit too late. Her body had jumped before the car without notice and the next second, there was a loud crash. Bang!Maya’s body collided with the car and she flew up in the air, like she was levitating. At that moment, Daven swallowed and for the first time, he felt a chill down his spine. He was scared she was going to hit the ground, bursting her brains open, and go straight to hell. So, he moved using every ounce of his strength. His hands were stretched out as Maya landed in his arms. The impact was too much and their bodies crashed to the floor almost immediately. However, Daven quickly sat up ignoring the lightness in h

  • Going Down Together

Before the eyes of everyone, Daven pulled out another new and sparkling phone, and Maya’s bladder almost burst in shock. This time, she thought of slapping the phone out of his hands again but Georgina had her eyes on her."Don't you dare!" Georgina warned. "If you are really innocent, why are you so jittery?" "I..." Maya stuttered, as she glanced at the other committee members. They all looked at her with irritation in their eyes and they were no longer on her side. However, Georgina was the most angry, "If you turn out to be guilty, Maya, just know you are fucking finished!"They all urged Daven to go and the next second, he had footage being displayed on the large screen. The camera was positioned perfectly as Maya made her way through the campus grounds that morning. In that moment, she received a call from someone, asking her to meet up and Daven turned to look at Doctor Blackman who was focused on the screen. He wondered how he was going to act if Gerald's face was displayed.A

  • I Came Prepared

“How do I know you are going to keep your end of the deal? I need some sort of security."Maya’s voice rang out from Daven’s phone making everyone shift in their seats. “The one million dollars I sent to her…” Daven began explaining his side of the story. “She demanded it. She wanted some sort of security, something to push her to testify to the truth.”The silence that prevailed over the room made Maya scared and she felt a chill running down her spine. Her bladder almost burst open too. But she had to stand her ground, “That’s a lie.”“True.” Georgina immediately backed her up. “If that is the case, why hasn't she testified in your favor? You gave her the money to favor you, right?”“If you have no evidence to tender, then this case is closed.”Maya nodded, her fists clenching feeling the sweet wave of victory. She was absolutely sure Daven didn't have any other thing or evidence against her. However, he looked at her with an intense gaze. “This is your last chance to say the tr

  • Daven Or Maya?

“Can I see that receipt?” Georgia immediately stood up, her eyes dimming with thrill. Maya shook, glancing at Daven with fear in her eyes. A minute ago, she had been running her mouth, but now, she was suddenly so weak and fearful while she clutched her dress again. “I…” She stuttered, as a tear slipped from her eyes. “I am scared.”Daven shook his head, a light scoff spilling from his mouth. He had to give it to her, because she acted so damn well.“No one is going to harm you here,” Georgia assured, stepping from the table toward Maya. The next second, she embraced her, the hug turning into an emotional display. “I am sorry for all that happened. The school will make sure to give you justice.” “Thank you.” Maya wiped her tears as she pulled away from the hug. She passed her phone to Georgia and a few minutes later, the documented receipt was displayed on the large screen in the room. All eyes turned on Daven and even Blackman looked intensely at him. He had put a lot of faith

  • The Hearing 2

Sure enough, Doctor Blackman was on the committee and as soon as his eyes met with Daven’s, he looked away. He wouldn't show any form of favoritism and would only judge according to all the evidence and facts being presented. One of the women, Georgia, took the lead, her gaze piercing through Daven’s. She looked scary, and he had heard tales about her amongst the students. She was known for her brutal decision, and would never show mercy, especially when a woman was the victim. And now, Maya was the perfect victim. “Mr. King, I would like to ask if you have seen the video of you harassing a female student on campus?” Georgia asked. Daven took a deep breath and nodded, “Yes, ma’am.”“Do you plead guilty?”“Not guilty, ma’am,” Daven responded, his sharp eyes on Georgia. She was a bit baffled by his gaze, sharp and asserting as if he damn well knew he was innocent. Deep down, she started to wonder what level of confidence he had and she was determined to break it. “Do you have an

  • The Hearing

Daven pursed his lips, his eyes gluing down on Dayna and Chris but then they eventually settled on her and they narrowed by the second. For the first time, he decided to entertain their scorn. “Do you think you belong here too, Dayna?” He asked. “Of course…” She chuckled, her hand fanning her face as if she were a goddess just descended on earth. “I got in fair and square, unlike you…” “Using your family connections, I suppose?” He raised a brow at her. Although his situation wasn't that much different from hers, he didn't go around shaming others. “Is there anything else you can brag of?” “What…what do you mean? Are you implying I have no brain whatsoever?” She snapped. “Bingo!” Daven snapped his fingers. “At least, you can think that far with that puny organ of yours.” “Daven! That’s enough!” Chris cut in, his eyes flaming with a burning fury. “You have done nothing but cause numerous disputes and problems, ever since you appeared!” “And now you dare to insult
