“What?” Daven gasped, frowning. “What does that mean? Tell me what is wrong with my father!” He demanded, and he was not even sure if the so-called system in his body could hear him.
He held onto his father’s hand so tight, waiting for a diagnosis to pop up. But then… [Unfortunately, Daven King, you do not have enough points! Perform tasks to get points.] Those words threw him off guard and he wondered how he was able to see the doctor’s illness. Did he have points earlier? What was he doing wrong now? “Daven…” His father’s cracked voice flowed into his ears and he looked straight at his father with a worried gaze. “Are you okay? I am sorry, I failed to see you at the hospital. I had work…” He lied. “How do you feel?” He asked. “He has gotten worse since the last time he visited the hospital.” Arya’s voice resounded from behind. “I don’t know what else we could do.” Her scared tone irked Daven so much that he shook his head with a determined expression. “No way! Father is not going to die on my watch.” Daven declared. “How are you going to do that?” Arya sneered. “We have no money.” Those words cut deep into Daven’s heart but he couldn't tell his sister he might have another way. The sudden system in his body was his only hope now though he didn't even understand shit about it. However, at the same time, the old radio at one end of the room was on with breaking news being delivered. THIS AFTERNOON, TEN ARE FEARED DEAD WITH OVER THIRTY VICTIMS FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES AT THE EAST MALL FIRE INCIDENT… The news was a sad one which caused everyone to sigh as there had been several fire breakouts in the neighborhood. But then the news prompted the system to come alive again. [Attention, Daven King, a new mission has arrived. Treat ten victims of the fire incident and earn 1000 points!] [You have one hour to complete this task! Every information you need is on level one of the medical system!] “Daven, are you even listening to me?” Arya’s shrill voice echoed in the small room, snapping Daven back to reality. “Arya…” Daven whispered, shooting up to his feet. “I will be back.” For a moment, he decided to not think of trying to understand the system. If truly the system was going to help him with his father’s sickness, he had to at least do something to prove that. Even when his sister called after him, he kept moving and soon he rushed out of the house, straight to the incident site. It was a gory sight to behold, with paramedics running around to treat the thirty victims. He looked closer to see that there were only a few paramedics attending to the victims. They were short-staffed. “This is my time…” Daven prepared himself for what was to come. He quickly took a medical overall lying around in the ambulance van and disguised himself, mixing with the paramedics. “Level one of the medical system…” Daven muttered, wondering how he was going to access the knowledge there. However, the system suddenly displayed a large screen before his eyes, detailing everything he had to do. There was no need for him to diagnose the victims because they all had visible severe burns on their bodies. “Oh God…” He whispered, in pity as he witnessed the degree of the burns on most of the victims. He had never been up close to such sights before and for a moment, he doubted his ability to carry out the task. “Why are you just standing there? Look out for the victims!” A paramedic from the side yelled at him, wondering why he was just standing around. “Yes…” Daven nodded quickly, hoping his disguise wouldn't be discovered. He closed his eyes to brace himself and when he opened his eyes again, he had a new resolve. He was going to see it to the end! He went through the level one information again, and it covered other things aside from burns. The information was basically simple first aid with a complex twist and with a smart brain, Daven was able to single out the information he needed. Daven got to work, with his first patient who had minor burns. He started by stopping the burns and cooling the affected area with a cooling pad and water before covering up the burn with a dry and clean dressing. However, the next patient was worse and Daven had a hard time treating the patient. He was no doctor, but as the seconds passed, his hands slowly got better and faster. His gaze sharpened and before long, he wheezed through ten patients with ease. “I did it…” He let out a breath of relief with sweat dripping down his face. He was so overwhelmed, in disbelief as well and he finally came to terms with the fact that the sudden system in his body was real. But then... “Hey, doctor! What did you do to me?” The first patient he treated rushed forward with a bewildered look. Immediately, a frown marred Daven’s face, wondering if he had done something wrong. “What’s wrong?” He asked. “I feel no pain… what…what did you use on me?” The patient gasped, wiggling the burned part of his body like he wasn't in pain a while ago. “Me too… I don’t feel any pain…” Another patient came up. And then another, down to the last patient Daven treated. Most of them had severe burns on their bodies and they were on the verge of death earlier but now, they stood before Daven, questioning him. “Wow…” Daven let out, surprised by the outcome of his action. But then, he didn't know whether he had done something good or he had created some kind of imbalance. Whatever the case was, Daven knew he needed to leave before they drown him in questions. On the other hand, the other paramedics noticed the commotion and they quickly gathered around with one of them feeling like Daven’s presence was odd. “You…” He pointed at Daven, stopping him from leaving. He then looked at the patients, in surprise. “Who are you? Were you sent as backup? We were just five earlier…”

Ignoring The System
Maya’s rage-filled face spelled danger in Daven’s mind and just like he had thought, she went crazy. In the blink of an eye, she stormed in between the crowded students, rushing toward the road with an oncoming car. “Maya…” Daven muttered, and then his voice rose a notch higher. “Maya! No!”He moved without thinking, at twice the speed of hers. But it was a bit too late. Her body had jumped before the car without notice and the next second, there was a loud crash. Bang!Maya’s body collided with the car and she flew up in the air, like she was levitating. At that moment, Daven swallowed and for the first time, he felt a chill down his spine. He was scared she was going to hit the ground, bursting her brains open, and go straight to hell. So, he moved using every ounce of his strength. His hands were stretched out as Maya landed in his arms. The impact was too much and their bodies crashed to the floor almost immediately. However, Daven quickly sat up ignoring the lightness in h
Going Down Together
Before the eyes of everyone, Daven pulled out another new and sparkling phone, and Maya’s bladder almost burst in shock. This time, she thought of slapping the phone out of his hands again but Georgina had her eyes on her."Don't you dare!" Georgina warned. "If you are really innocent, why are you so jittery?" "I..." Maya stuttered, as she glanced at the other committee members. They all looked at her with irritation in their eyes and they were no longer on her side. However, Georgina was the most angry, "If you turn out to be guilty, Maya, just know you are fucking finished!"They all urged Daven to go and the next second, he had footage being displayed on the large screen. The camera was positioned perfectly as Maya made her way through the campus grounds that morning. In that moment, she received a call from someone, asking her to meet up and Daven turned to look at Doctor Blackman who was focused on the screen. He wondered how he was going to act if Gerald's face was displayed.A
I Came Prepared
“How do I know you are going to keep your end of the deal? I need some sort of security."Maya’s voice rang out from Daven’s phone making everyone shift in their seats. “The one million dollars I sent to her…” Daven began explaining his side of the story. “She demanded it. She wanted some sort of security, something to push her to testify to the truth.”The silence that prevailed over the room made Maya scared and she felt a chill running down her spine. Her bladder almost burst open too. But she had to stand her ground, “That’s a lie.”“True.” Georgina immediately backed her up. “If that is the case, why hasn't she testified in your favor? You gave her the money to favor you, right?”“If you have no evidence to tender, then this case is closed.”Maya nodded, her fists clenching feeling the sweet wave of victory. She was absolutely sure Daven didn't have any other thing or evidence against her. However, he looked at her with an intense gaze. “This is your last chance to say the tr
Daven Or Maya?
“Can I see that receipt?” Georgia immediately stood up, her eyes dimming with thrill. Maya shook, glancing at Daven with fear in her eyes. A minute ago, she had been running her mouth, but now, she was suddenly so weak and fearful while she clutched her dress again. “I…” She stuttered, as a tear slipped from her eyes. “I am scared.”Daven shook his head, a light scoff spilling from his mouth. He had to give it to her, because she acted so damn well.“No one is going to harm you here,” Georgia assured, stepping from the table toward Maya. The next second, she embraced her, the hug turning into an emotional display. “I am sorry for all that happened. The school will make sure to give you justice.” “Thank you.” Maya wiped her tears as she pulled away from the hug. She passed her phone to Georgia and a few minutes later, the documented receipt was displayed on the large screen in the room. All eyes turned on Daven and even Blackman looked intensely at him. He had put a lot of faith
The Hearing 2
Sure enough, Doctor Blackman was on the committee and as soon as his eyes met with Daven’s, he looked away. He wouldn't show any form of favoritism and would only judge according to all the evidence and facts being presented. One of the women, Georgia, took the lead, her gaze piercing through Daven’s. She looked scary, and he had heard tales about her amongst the students. She was known for her brutal decision, and would never show mercy, especially when a woman was the victim. And now, Maya was the perfect victim. “Mr. King, I would like to ask if you have seen the video of you harassing a female student on campus?” Georgia asked. Daven took a deep breath and nodded, “Yes, ma’am.”“Do you plead guilty?”“Not guilty, ma’am,” Daven responded, his sharp eyes on Georgia. She was a bit baffled by his gaze, sharp and asserting as if he damn well knew he was innocent. Deep down, she started to wonder what level of confidence he had and she was determined to break it. “Do you have an
The Hearing
Daven pursed his lips, his eyes gluing down on Dayna and Chris but then they eventually settled on her and they narrowed by the second. For the first time, he decided to entertain their scorn. “Do you think you belong here too, Dayna?” He asked. “Of course…” She chuckled, her hand fanning her face as if she were a goddess just descended on earth. “I got in fair and square, unlike you…” “Using your family connections, I suppose?” He raised a brow at her. Although his situation wasn't that much different from hers, he didn't go around shaming others. “Is there anything else you can brag of?” “What…what do you mean? Are you implying I have no brain whatsoever?” She snapped. “Bingo!” Daven snapped his fingers. “At least, you can think that far with that puny organ of yours.” “Daven! That’s enough!” Chris cut in, his eyes flaming with a burning fury. “You have done nothing but cause numerous disputes and problems, ever since you appeared!” “And now you dare to insult
