Beep!

Beep!!

Beep!!!

Hours had passed since Daven had been rushed to the hospital and he lay on the bed, looking so lifeless. Only the sound of the machines connected to his body indicated that he was still alive.

A few minutes later, Daven’s fingers moved and his eyes opened slowly. He was met with the white walls and ceiling of his noisy hospital room.

With other patients around and their voices flowing into his head, he felt like his head was about to explode.

Not only that, the memories of him getting hit by Gerald and how his girlfriend cheated on him, came rushing in.

Daven closed his eyes, so as to tone down the headache he was feeling but it got even worse.

“Oh no…” He gasped, breathing heavily as he recalled his dad had been rushed to the hospital. Quickly, he shot up the bed, ready to go to his father but in an instant, his body fell back on the bed.

The IV drip in his hand also twisted and the machines started to beep louder as Daven went into shock

However, inside him, another machine was beeping, while he was shaking on the bed.

[Welcome, Daven King, this is the Rich Medical System. You have been given a new life.]

With his eyes closed, Daven could still see things. It was like a new door had been opened in his mind and he witnessed several intricate webs being merged together and several information being downloaded at the same time.

[You have been bestowed the knowledge of modern medicine. You can heal people with your skilled hands and increased knowledge. And it is up to you to unlock more skills and knowledge.]

At the same time, with each information being downloaded, there were also locks on them, with only a few pieces of knowledge unlocked.

After the information had been registered in his mind, the system displayed a new screen.

[Host: Daven King

Age: 20

Occupation: Nil

Bank account: $2

System points: 1099

Strengths: 0

Weaknesses: 10

Host grade: 0.5]

[Your personal information has been registered by the system. You are at a very low human grade, and you need to step up to at least grade 1, otherwise, you might lose your life.]

Immediately those words were said, the System went blank and Daven’s eyes snapped open. He was drenched in sweat, his heart racing with a confused gaze.

“Brother, are you okay? You were shaking so terribly.” Arya’s worried voice flowed into his ears. Daven looked at his sister, still confused and at the same time, he saw a doctor rushing in.

“Don’t worry, the doctor is here.” Arya quickly stepped back.

The doctor went ahead to take his hand, wanting to check Daven’s stats but as soon as they made contact, Daven’s eyes flashed a bit.

In his mind, the System woke up again.

[Flannel Brick.

Occupation: Doctor.

Medical Illness: Diabetes

Stage: Type 2 diabetes

Caution: Needs immediate treatment, else can result in more complications.

Note: More information about this diagnosis is located in the information dump area.]

“What the hell…” Daven let out in surprise and immediately, he flung the doctor’s hands away.

He sat upright, in shock as he watched his surrounding like a hawk.

“Brother, what is going on?” Arya looked at him, in confusion.

On the other hand, the doctor tried to touch Daven again but he avoided the doctor’s touch so cleanly.

“You…” Daven pointed at him. “Are you diabetic?”

Immediately, the doctor’s gaze changed, not expecting Daven to know that.

“Do you know me? How do you know that?” He frowned.

“Oh shit!” Daven held onto his bandaged head and he felt like he had stepped into a new dimension which he wasn't supposed to get into.

All he did was to accept a System’s request and now he was thrown into jeopardy.

“Arya, let’s go home.” Swiftly, he dragged the IV needle out of his hand. “Have you paid the bills?”

“Yes…” Arya stuttered.

“Mr. Daven, you can’t leave the hospital just yet. You are still weak–”

“I am fine!” Daven thundered, getting off the hospital bed. He wasn't as weak as before. He was suddenly energized like he had not been hit by a car at all.

Still in his hospital clothes, he rushed past the doctor, dashing out of the hospital.

Arya ran after her brother, complaining and asking why he would leave the hospital that way. He still had cuts and bruises all over but he felt no pain however to Arya, he was too pale and should be in pain, so he shouldn't be walking around.

“Let’s go home.” Daven hailed a cab and ordered his sister into the cab.

“Where is father? Is he still at the hospital?” He asked.

“He is back home. I didn't tell him about your accident though…”

“You did well…” Daven nodded. However, he was worried as he bit down on his lips, wondering what was going on in his life.

He had a machine…a system inside him? How was that possible? Not only that, he could diagnose a person of an ailment. Now, he was even scared to touch anyone so he wouldn't see a diagnosis.

But the person he wanted to touch the most was his sick father.

“If I can help my father with this. I will surely accept this system...” He muttered.

A few minutes passed and they arrived in the shabby building where they lived. He rushed straight into his father’s bedroom and he saw that his father was fast asleep.

Sitting by his bedside, he quickly touched his father, “Please…show me what is wrong with him.”

[The medical diagnosis could not be processed, Daven King. You do not have enough system points.]

  • Giving Up The System

Daven frowned, his eyes going dim as his mind whirled with several thoughts. The danger. Was it the old man who claimed to be Carlos Deck? Or was it—”“Where is my son?” She snapped.“Ohh…” He let out, finally realizing what she really wanted. “I don't know why you are asking me that.”“Shouldn't you ask the police or something? Don’t you know your son tried to kill me, and Elena today?”“Elena…” She whispered, with a slithering wickedness in her voice. “I heard she is okay, and at the hospital.”“Do you think she is still there?” “What?” Daven let out as it clicked in his mind. “Yeah, that’s right…” She snickered, laughing out loud. “This is what happens when you touch what you are not supposed to touch. What do you think will happen to her if she is unhooked from the machines keeping her alive?”“She has 1 hour to live, Daven. Bring my son to me and get her back!”“You bitch!” He seethed, eyes going red with veins lining his head and neck.He had left Elena at the hospital with A

[Attention Daven King! Save Gerald Blackman! You have one hour to complete this mission.]Daven almost laughed out loud when he heard those words. The same Gerald he wanted to punish and even wanted dead? He had to save that bastard? No way!“Is there a consequence?” He asked. “If there is, I will gladly take it. I don’t care about that bastard’s life.”The system went silent and Daven let out a small sigh. By the time he came back to his senses, he saw the old man looking straight at him with creased brows.“Can you hear me now?”“Of course….” Daven nodded. “Were you saying something?”“Do you want to give him treatment? If you give the word, they will get an ambulance here…”The old man’s cold voice and the absence of emotion in his eyes when he spoke of Gerald amazed Daven. Even though this wasn't the first time he had seen it, he was surprised every single time.“No…” He shook his head. “If he dies, then that is his fate.”“Are you sure?” The old man asked. However, Daven shrugged

  • Incoming Bomb

And though he knew the committee might not punish her for her false statement, she would suffer a lot of backlash. He drove on the highway, in the night and as his car pulled up into the West mansion, his phone lit up. He glanced at it for a moment to see that it was his father calling. At that moment, Daven couldn't help the smile that spread across his lips as he connected the call.He didn't say a word, but only listened to his father's heavy breathing, and a few seconds later, he finally spoke up, "Daven, help...""Help?" He sneered, with raised brows. "How may I help you, Mr. James King?""What?" His father gasped. "James King? Why would you speak to me that way?""Your time is running out..." Daven ignored his question as he gave a subtle warning. "I have somewhere important to be.""Is anything more important than your father? Your

The hallway turned silent, as Daven stared at the old man intensely. He just needed something to hold onto, since the proposal couldn't be trusted completely. However, the old man shook his head, “I can’t let you know that.”“Like I told you. Only after you agree to the proposal would you know the details and everything you want to know, you will, after that.”“Is that so?” Daven raised a brow, as his trust dwindled. He raised his hand to wave and dismiss the old man, but then OR door was suddenly pushed open. Two nurses rushed out, and Daven immediately stood in their way, panicked.“What’s going on?” He asked.“Please, step aside…” They quickly pushed him aside, but then he saw their distress too. As they disappeared and reappeared down the hallway, they carried a box containing blood bags and Daven’s heart couldn't help but sink further, wondering if Elena would survive.“With all you have seen, wouldn’t you take my proposal? I don’t think you can stand the rage any longer…”He cl

However, at that moment, he was completely disoriented and afraid that the only woman who stood by his side would die because of him.The system didn’t even give him a mission to save her!“Step aside, Daven…” Ari pulled on his arm, but he held on to her still. He felt her pulse, how faint it was, and the way her skin was turning pale and cold.“Please, don’t die…” He muttered. “Step aside, Daven! Gerald is looking all over you. Ari says he has a gun.”“What?” He gasped.“Yes! Get the hell out.”Elena ended the call the next second and Daven looked around, checking his surroundings. He had expected Gerald to appear in rage, but he didn't expect the bastard would be so brazen to wield a gun.“Stupid…” He chuckled, with no ounce of fear in his eyes. And he knew no matter where he went, Gerald would always come after him. So, he walked casually around, but his eyes were on every nook and cranny.
