Chapter 5

Jason left the hospital area with a small smile on his face. Despite Brena's initial disbelief, Jason felt it was all worth it based on the way Brena looked at him as he left. The guilty look Brena had shown had truly left an impression on him, different from the usual scornful looks Jason received. He then wandered aimlessly, still having his afternoon class. However, he chose not to return to campus as Kevin and Lydia would likely be there.

"Annoying, the pain I feel when I remember this morning's events is truly annoying," Jason muttered, Lydia's betrayal really hurt him. Despite refusing to admit it, Jason truly had deep feelings for Brena.

[Ding!]

[The System detects the Host's troubled feelings and feels pity.]

Jason looked at the system screen in annoyance, unable to believe that there would be a day in his life when he would be pitied by something that wasn't even human.

"Forget it, I don't need your pity. Besides, I have money now. I'll make Lydia regret it," Jason said. His determination was real, successfully suppressing his heartache over Lydia.

[Ding!]

[The System realizes what the Host truly desires at the moment, so it suggests the Host to visit the restaurant across the street.]

Jason glanced at the restaurant mentioned. It was difficult to understand why the system wanted him to go there when his intention was to make Lydia regret betraying him, not because he was hungry or wanted to eat or something. After thinking for a moment, Jason sighed deeply, "Oh well, the system must have a reason for asking me to come."

[Ding!]

[The Host is quite smart, the system is pleased, so it gives the Host 100 Points. Combined with your assistance to Brena earlier, the total Points the Host receives are 200.]

"Oh, does that mean I can get abilities from your shop?" Jason asked before reaching the restaurant the system referred to.

[Ding!]

[That's correct, Host. Is there any ability you would like to acquire?]

Jason shook his head slowly, "Later, I'll go into the restaurant first to find out your reason for asking me to come here."

Jason entered the restaurant to satisfy his curiosity. It was a luxurious restaurant that Jason had heard of often. As soon as Jason entered, he could see there was a commotion. Some restaurant staff were arguing with a girl he knew well, which immediately made Jason understand why the system suddenly asked him to come. Ignoring the altercation between the restaurant staff and the girl, Jason walked up to the reception desk.

"I'm sorry, Sir, for the disturbance. Please don't mind them; our restaurant is really trying hard to get rid of her," the receptionist said to Jason, afraid that Jason would be bothered by the commotion.

Jason shook his head, "It's okay, I just came to eat and I'm not interested in paying attention to them."

The receptionist breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank goodness, so have you made a reservation beforehand?"

"Not yet."

The receptionist's gaze on Jason became wary, "Sir, don't tell me you want to be like that girl?"

Jason raised his eyebrows, "What do you mean?"

The receptionist immediately explained that the girl who was currently being tried to be expelled also came without making a reservation. And when asked to leave, the girl got angry and kept bragging about her boyfriend who was said to be rich and influential in the city.

"It's really annoying, does she think just because her boyfriend is rich she can do whatever she wants?" The receptionist concluded her explanation with a shake of her head, unable to understand the girl's way of thinking.

Jason raised his eyebrows, "Really?"

Jason became interested after hearing the story. He unconsciously began to observe the girl in question, it was Lydia, and as far as Jason remembered, Lydia shouldn't be like that.

"You've really changed," Jason muttered as he watched Lydia, who was still swearing at the restaurant staff trying to expel her.

"I told you my boyfriend will be here soon. He's already booked a table so it shouldn't be a problem for me to sit down first to wait for him. Why are you trying to kick me out as if I'm the troublemaker?!" Lydia asked angrily, her tone snapping at every restaurant staff.

One of the waiters who was holding Lydia immediately said, "Miss, your boyfriend's name is not in our restaurant reservation records, you are clearly just making things up."

"Nonsense, you're the ones making things up! Call your manager here, I want to talk to him!" Lydia yelled feeling offended.

The restaurant staff immediately refused at that moment. Their manager was a busy person, so it was impossible for him to come just to satisfy Lydia's stubbornness.

Lydia then realized that she was now the center of attention, making her unwilling to feel embarrassed by being expelled. This made Lydia determined to do anything just to be accepted by the restaurant to prove that she was not guilty.

As the first step of her plan, Lydia had tried to call Kevin several times to ask him to come. Unfortunately, Kevin didn't answer his phone at that time.

"Damn, this is really embarrassing," Lydia muttered.

When she didn't know what else to do, she accidentally saw Jason among the customers.

Lydia immediately approached Jason who was at the reception desk, planning to divert everyone's attention to Jason so that Jason would be embarrassed instead of her.

Jason remained calm as Lydia approached him. Realizing that the current Lydia was not the Lydia he knew, so it was very likely that Lydia would do something unexpected.

"Hey, Jason. What brings you here?" Lydia asked, as if she had never caused a commotion before.

"To eat, what else? Just go on with your business, no need to mind me," Jason said, caring and not caring at the same time, still busy trying to get a table to eat.

"Eat? Do you even know what restaurant this is? Do you even have money to dare talk nonsense like that?" Lydia asked. She was more inclined to believe that Jason worked part-time as a food delivery person there rather than coming to eat as a customer.

"Sir, do you know her?" The receptionist asked, wanting Jason's help to ask Lydia to leave if they knew each other.

Jason shook his head, "No, how could I possibly know a girl like her?"

The receptionist nodded understandingly, covering her disappointment because it meant it would be difficult for their restaurant to ask Lydia to leave.

"Jason, how dare you pretend not to know me? I'm the one who should feel like that, how dare a poor person like you behave so arrogantly?" Lydia was half in disbelief, for some reason, Jason felt different from his way of speaking and behavior.

Jason looked at Lydia uninterestedly, "Poor? You say that when you're the one trying to be expelled from this restaurant and not me. Why do you feel like you're saying that to yourself?"
