Chapter 6

Lydia, with mixed emotions, bit her lower lip hard. "Jason, how dare you..."

Seeing Lydia starting to disturb their restaurant's potential customers, several restaurant employees immediately acted to keep Lydia away from Jason.

"Miss, stop causing trouble and leave," one of the servers said, feeling a bit tired of dealing with Lydia's stubbornness.

Lydia, still being arrogant and unwilling to back down, began trying to divert the attention of the restaurant staff to Jason.

Lydia was confident that Jason was just talking nonsense about coming to the restaurant to eat. Lydia knew Jason was poor, so it couldn't be possible.

"Hey, you guys. Let me tell you, the one you should be kicking out is him, not me," Lydia said, pointing at Jason, even though Jason remained silent and didn't cause any trouble.

"Miss, watch your words. How can you try to make us kick out a potential customer who hasn't done anything wrong?"

"Potential customer? He's the real troublemaker, saying nonsense about wanting to eat here when he probably doesn't even have money to eat in a dirty place," Lydia's words started to influence the restaurant's staff.

"Hey, is what she said true?" One of the servers asked the receptionist, who had been talking to Jason from the beginning.

The receptionist shrugged, "This gentleman did say he wanted to eat but hasn't made a reservation yet. You could say his situation is similar to the lady's."

Some restaurant employees began to feel restless. They thought they would have to deal with another troublemaker besides Lydia, who they hadn't even managed to expel yet.

Unlike the anxious employees, Lydia smiled broadly, thinking that making Jason the scapegoat was the best decision she had made.

"I'm right, aren't I? Stop bothering me and kick him out," Lydia said, still smiling, feeling no remorse for what she had done.

Jason sighed deeply, shaking his head slightly. His suspicion that Lydia had changed and was truly different from the Lydia he knew was confirmed.

Some employees started to think about dealing with Jason sooner. They wanted to expel Jason first, fearing he would cause further trouble like Lydia had.

"Sir, please leave while we're still talking civilly. Our restaurant doesn't accommodate guests unless they've made reservations well in advance," one employee tried to persuade Jason.

Knowing everything would turn out like this once Lydia started shifting everything onto him, Jason had already thought of a way to get out of it all.

"VIP customer of this restaurant, I want to be one of them. Reservations shouldn't be necessary, right?" Jason asked, mentioning this to the receptionist earlier.

"VIP customer?"

The employees looked at Jason in surprise. If Jason's words were true, then there was no reason for them to kick Jason out just because of Lydia's words.

"Why are you hesitating? He's just talking nonsense; he couldn't possibly have the ability to prove his nonsense!" Lydia exclaimed. She was not satisfied seeing the restaurant employees looking at Jason respectfully instead of expelling him.

"Miss, whether his words are true or not, we just need to see, don't we?" One employee said, hoping Lydia would shut up and stop continuously mentioning potential VIP customers like Jason.

"Fine, let's see if he can do it," Lydia folded her arms, impatient to see Jason's bluff exposed.

Without responding to Lydia's rant, Jason immediately took care of the payment for the VIP customer he mentioned. Jason wanted Lydia to see a different side of him, a side Lydia had never seen before.

Before making the payment, Jason was first explained by the receptionist about the benefits of being a VIP customer of the restaurant. Essentially, it meant receiving much better service than regular customers and having priority every time they visited.

"Stop the explanation; just tell me how much it is," Jason said, interrupting the receptionist from explaining further.

Jason's way of speaking and his demeanor at that moment truly looked like that of a wealthy person who didn't care about the money to be spent. This elicited admiration for Jason from everyone there.

"Arrogant, let's see how long you can pretend," Lydia muttered. She was the only one who wasn't fooled by Jason's nonsense, as she knew Jason better than anyone else.

"The cost of becoming a VIP customer of our restaurant is usually accumulated from the amount of food and expenses the customer has spent so far, Sir. No one has ever wanted to become one like you before, even when you haven't tasted our dishes yet," the receptionist explained the situation.

"So, can I or not?" Jason asked.

The receptionist panicked as she explained that it was still possible, but the cost might sound unreasonable.

"Just tell me; I'll still pay it," Jason said casually.

"One million dollars is the cost you have to bear, Sir."

The price quoted by the receptionist was truly shocking, and some people started to doubt whether Jason could actually afford it.

Any doubts about himself were immediately dispelled by Jason when his payment was successfully made right in front of the restaurant employees and every visitor.

"How is this possible?" Lydia was shocked, feeling that all of this was incredibly unrealistic.

"Miss, how dare you try to make us expel an important customer like him?" One employee said angrily. Their manager would surely be angry after learning everything that had just happened.

"No, he couldn't possibly afford it. You must have been deceived by him," Lydia denied, finding it really hard to accept this situation.

"Miss, you better shut your mouth and leave."

Some employees began to move to escort Lydia out. Unlike before, they did it roughly because Lydia had almost caused them to lose their jobs by inciting them to offend Jason.

"Stop pulling my arm, damn it! Don't you fear I'll get angry and retaliate later? Just so you know, my boyfriend is Kevin, and he's much more extraordinary than that loser Jason, your restaurant's VIP," Lydia exclaimed as some employees dragged her out.

"Feel free to do that; do you think we care about your threats?!" One restaurant employee responded.

Jason could only look sadly at Lydia, who looked so pitiful in his eyes. It was difficult for him to accept that the girl he had loved so much just a short while ago had suddenly changed so drastically.

As he was being dragged out by some restaurant employees, Lydia searched for Jason's presence to stare at him sharply. "Jason, you may be happy now. I'll retaliate for this later, and it will be very painful!"
