The woman blinked twice, and Alex immediately realized that he had been rude.

“Sorry, I got a bit lost in thought. Back to your question, yes, I’m the one who composed the song,” he said calmly, forcing himself to steady his emotions.

She smiled softly. “You have real talent in composing, and your guitar skills are good as well. I’m genuinely impressed.” Her tone shifted slightly as she continued, “But I have to be honest with you. You’re not very good at singing.” Her words were direct and unfiltered.

Alex frowned.

“It might sound brutal, but it’s the truth,” she added. “I’m not trying to discourage you. If you work hard on your voice, maybe you’ll get there someday. Who knows?”

She paused for a moment before continuing, “But if you ever give up on being an artist and decide to focus on composing, contact me.” She handed him a card.

At first, Alex felt irritated by her blunt criticism and thought she had only approached him to tear him down. However, when she encouraged him to improve and even offered him an opportunity, he realized that she genuinely meant well.

At the very least, she had not told him to stop making music altogether. Even Alex had to admit that his voice still needed work.

“I’ll be going now,” she said, turning and walking away. I wonder if he hates me now? she thought, unaware that her old habit had taken over.

All the celebrities under her knew this side of her personality. She was brutally honest, sometimes to the point of being irritating.

But Alex was a stranger, and she should not have spoken to him that way. It was an old habit resurfacing, and she regretted it.

Alex watched her leave. He slipped the card into his pocket without looking at it, then packed up his things and left Newar square.

When he finished performing earlier, he had received a notification from the system, but he had suppressed it. He was still in public and did not want to look strange by staring into empty air.

After walking for a few minutes, he arrived home. As usual, his landlady was outside, smoking. She wore small, loose clothing, as she always did, accentuating her curvaceous body.

She narrowed her eyes when she saw Alex approaching with a guitar slung across his back.

“Brat, don’t tell me you still have those wishful dreams of yours,” she scoffed. “With that croaked voice of yours, I really wonder what kind of shitty label would ever accept you.”

After a brief pause, she continued mockingly, “You know what, I own a restaurant. Why don’t you come over and play that guitar of yours for the customers? You’re very skilled at it. Just don’t sing, and I’ll pay you well.” The moment she opened her mouth, her words were as vicious as ever.

Alex thought that her remarks alone might have caused him serious emotional damage if he did not have the system supporting him.

“Don’t worry about me, landlady. I’m never giving up on my dream,” he said firmly.

“Oh, good luck with that. I hope you succeed,” she replied sarcastically. “But before that, remember you still have rent to pay. Wait… where are you going? Come here this instant, brat!”

While she was still ranting, Alex had already walked away, hurrying toward his apartment. She could only curse loudly behind him.

Inside his small one-room apartment, Alex locked the door and collapsed onto the bed.

Immediately, he willed the system to display the notification.

(Ding! Mission completed: Compose a song, then go to a public place and perform it.

Reward: Special skill, Resonance level one.

Resonance enhances the emotional impact of the host’s voice, allowing it to naturally draw attention on a deeper level and subtly influence the audience’s mood. The effect depends on skill level.)

“Finally. I hope this skill is worth it. System, show me my stats.”

A new window appeared before him, displaying his information.

Host level:

Entertainment skills:

Star points: 0

Singing: level 5

Dancing: level 3

Composing and songwriting: level 7

He nodded, satisfied with his progress. However, his dancing and acting levels were pitifully low. For now, he had no intention of pursuing anything related to acting.

Today, Alex finally decided to go back to school. The moment he arrived at the gates of saints high, a strong sense of déjà vu washed over him.

It had been many years since he last attended high school. Exactly how many, he could no longer recall.

With a sigh, he walked through the school gate.

“Hello, Alex.”

Someone suddenly called out, startling him. He turned around and saw a chubby beauty standing behind him.

She wore a white school uniform paired with a short pink, flowery skirt. The fabric hugged her curvy, chubby figure, highlighting her full body and making her shape impossible to ignore.

Her face was soft and full, with two cute dimples resting naturally on her cheeks. She was very beautiful, probably on the same level as Alex’s ex girlfriend.

If some of the fat on her face were gone, she might even be more beautiful than his ex.

She was a transfer student who sat beside Alex in class, so they often exchanged notes.

She was a kind girl and always spoke gently to him. This had caused many of her pursuers to feel jealous. You already have a beauty as a girlfriend, and now you want to take this one too?

They secretly loathed him. One could imagine how happy they were when Billy and Christina started showing public affection at school a week ago.

“Amber!” Alex smiled, pleasantly surprised to see her.

“What happened to you? You haven’t been at school for a whole week,” she asked worriedly.

“Oh, nothing serious. I was in a small accident, but I’m fine now,” he replied casually.

“Are you sure you’re really okay?” she asked, eyeing him suspiciously.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” He nodded firmly.

“Alright then. I think we should exchange contacts so I can check on you next time,” she said. “No one in class seems to have your contact information, and even your girlfriend… ehm, I mean your ex, refused to give it to me.” She said it without the slightest hint of awkwardness.

Most girls found it difficult to ask a guy for his number, and even when they did, they were often nervous. But Amber was different. She was straightforward and never the type to follow conventions.

It had now been four hours. Many people in the waiting room had already performed, and it would soon be his turn.Suddenly, the door to the waiting room opened, and the show organizer walked in.“We have a special artist here with us today. Initially, he was supposed to open the show, but he had an emergency. To those of you waiting in line, I’m sorry, but this artist will have to perform first. He’s still very busy and has somewhere else to be after this.”The show organizer spoke in an apologetic tone. Everyone waiting for their turn, including Alex, frowned, but none of them could do anything about it. All of them here were upcoming artists who were barely known, so they had no power to protest. They all looked up to see the artist receiving such special treatment. Alex also looked up but instantly regretted it.The person was none other than Derek.Alex cursed his luck. Why Derek of all people? And was that guy stuck performing free shows or something? Both times Alex had seen him

They dropped the lawyer at home and drove off immediately."So spill it, Alex. What is it that you have to do so urgently?" Anna asked with a frown after they dropped the judge."I don't know how to explain this to you, but instead of questioning me, can you just believe in me and help me out?" he said calmly."How can I help you when I don't even know what you're planning?" she sighed."Don't worry about it. Just believe me, like you always have," he replied.Anna studied him for a moment. "Alright, I believe you. What should we do?""Let's drop Jude at home first," he suggested."No way. I'm also involved in this case, so I must be part of everything that goes on. Are you trying to sideline me?" Jude said angrily, his fat body shaking violently.Alex also felt it wasn't fair and apologized to him."Alright, Anna, can you find me a place where I can perform today? Anywhere with maybe over two thousand people in attendance. If there are fewer people, I can accept it, but it means I wi

"Frederick, please. This is our son Jude we are talking about. Let's put aside our differences and do something," Mrs Agnes said, kneeling and clutching the legs of a tall, fat, middle-aged man."Get away from me. Now he's my son? But you were the one who instigated him not to come back. He even rejected a house and a sixty-thousand-credit car just to do that DJ work.""He's not a DJ. He's a producer," Agnes explained."Whatever. I don't care. All I know is that I don't have such a shameless son. He couldn't even be man enough to chase women and instead resorted to forcing himself on them. What a disgrace." He spat the words out."What are you saying? You and I both clearly know that he didn't do it," she said angrily."You and I know? How would I even know? I didn't raise him," he interjected."Yes, probably because you were busy impregnating a whore outside wedlock," she snapped."A whore? How dare you call my wife a whore?" he snapped back."So what? Isn't she a whore? You know wha

They both looked toward the door as the police officer pulled out a pair of handcuffs.“Come on, someone wants to see you. I don’t have all day, so let’s get this over with so I can go back to what I was doing,” he said impatiently.Alex and Jude were handcuffed again and led away.“Sorry to ask, but didn’t you say earlier that the station commander was coming and wouldn’t like us seeing people?” Alex asked, confused.“Yes, you’re right. But that only applies to people who didn’t come through him. This person came with the commander himself,” the policeman explained roughly.Alex immediately understood. They were taken back to the same room as before. This time, however, someone was already seated at the table in front of them. Alex couldn’t see her face because she was facing the other direction, but he could make out enough of her figure to tell that she was a woman. They were brought in front of her, and he finally saw her face.“It’s you.” Alex frowned as the police forced him to

They were brought to a room and left there after their handcuffs were removed. They didn’t wait long before a crying Amber burst in and lunged straight for Alex, hugging him tightly.“Amber…” he said softly, his voice breaking.“I’m trying my best, Alex. I begged my father as much as I could, but he said that with the evidence it will be really hard to get you out. I know you didn’t do it. I’m sorry I didn’t warn you about how dark the industry is.” She cried.“It’s not your fault. I was too careless. Also, stop asking your father for help. You might make things too difficult for him, and he might end up loathing me.”She didn’t reply and only hugged him tighter.“Amber, I thought the first thing you would ask the moment you saw me would be for me to tell you the truth about whether I truly did it. I never knew you believed in my character so much,” he said calmly. If there was one silver lining in all this, it was seeing at least one person believe in him completely, even with eviden

"You really think there’s any amount you could offer that would move me?" the black-haired girl sneered, her arms folded tightly across her chest. Her apartment door hung half open behind her. A few curious neighbors lingered in the hallway, pretending to check their phones while listening closely."He tried to rape me. No amount of money can erase that. He deserves to suffer for it," she said sharply.Anna stood calmly in the corridor, unfazed by the hostility."Both of us know very well he didn’t force himself on you," Anna replied evenly. "But let’s set that aside for now. Tell me what you want.""I don’t want anything," the girl shot back immediately. "I want him to rot in prison and suffer for what he did."Her eyes narrowed as she leaned slightly closer."And if you keep pushing me, I might just tell the police that you’re threatening me."For a brief moment, the hallway fell silent.Anna studied her quietly, then nodded."Alright. I’ll be leaving," she said. "But believe me, yo
