My Trillion Dollar System

Chapter 3. The Beginning

“Arizona Group?” The other man suddenly looked interested when August mentioned Arizona.

“Who are you to think you will be richer than them?” He still has that suspicious look as he stared at August. August removed his hand from his shoulder.

“I might sound crazy right now….”

“Seems you escaped from a psychiatric hospital….” The other man cut in as he scanned August's clothing. August looked down at himself and realized he was still in the hospital clothes.

“That’s the point. I’ve gotten a trillion-dollar system that will make me earn up to a trillion dollars.” August folded his arms and said dreamily.

“Have you tried getting a job in the Arizona Group by chance? Were you rejected?” He suddenly asked as August stared at him for a while, suddenly embarrassed as he remembered how he was humiliated. The last thing he wanted was to remember that painful scenario.

“Yes. Why?” He shrugged as if that day wasn’t the worst day of his life.

“Right….” The guy chuckled. “Arizona group is so great that people tend to go crazy when they don’t employ them….” He let out a sigh and shook his head pitifully. “Now you dream of getting richer than them? They are the biggest in the country! So take heart, and go find something doing with your life and not butting in other people’s business…” He blurted angrily and made to rush into the main road where cars were speeding.

August realized that and quickly held him back. “Let me go!” The guy tried to get free, but he was no match for August. There was no way he was going to get the system pissed by losing him to suicide. He couldn’t take chances and lose this system.

“Are you trying to kill yourself because you got rejected by Arizona group?” August asked when he finally got him off the road.

“What do you care?” He eyed August.

“Shit! That’s stupid, Dan.” August said when he caught sight of his ID card where his name was displayed. “You shouldn’t waste your life away because of that damn company.” August continued, not sure why he was suddenly interested in this young man.

“And what makes you think so? Ugh? I would rather die than be a lunatic like you who dreams of taking over the Arizona group someday.” Dan hissed in frustration and joined his palms together. “So please, let me be! I have only dreamt of working as a computer scientist in Arizona all my life. I can’t imagine my life without being an employee there….” August stared at him, almost lost in thoughts as he remembered his past self. How he was once like him and sees Arizona Group as paradise.

“Wait…wait….” August quickly stopped him again.

“You don’t have to work for the Arizona Group. Be my partner. And we will be ten times richer than the Arizona Group.” August said with a certain kind of determination he didn’t know he possessed as he watched Dan intently who suddenly burst out laughing.

“You are really deranged. How do you plan to do that?” He asked still chuckling.

“Through building my own company. The trillion-dollar company. It’s going to worth more than the Arizona group. I am going to watch them crawl on their feet and beg me. And if you stay with me, you will relish seeing those people that made you feel like nothing now for you, Dan.” August said with enthusiasm. When did he suddenly get this idea? Maybe because he was desperate to keep this man from killing himself.

“That’s it. I’m done speaking to you. Such a nuisance.” Dan hissed and was about to leave again but August stopped him.

“What is it now?!”

“I have a trillion-dollar system that can allow me to make a trillion dollars. You’ve got to believe me…” August said almost desperately and Dan made a face as if he wanted to believe him and started laughing again.

“Look….” August brought out his cellphone. “My balance as of yesterday is nothing. The system asked me to save you when you were about to commit suicide. My reward was $10,000. When I did, this alert immediately popped up. Check the time interval.” He quickly showed a skeptical Dan who started to scratch his head as he stared at the screen. He looked up at August, still deliberating.

“This is hard to believe though.” He commented and bit his lips. “So you could make a trillion dollars if you continue like this?” He asked, now showing a bit of interest.

August nodded quickly as Dan rubbed his chin.

“So what now? You’ve got $10,000 in your account. What is the way forward?” Dan asked as August bit his lower lips when he realized he didn’t really have a way to talk to the system unless it spoke to him.

Ding! Ding! The system buzzed as the panel showed in front of him.

“It’s here. Look!” August immediately pointed to the panel, but all Dan could see was air.

“Am I making the right decision to trust this guy?” He muttered to himself as he watched August calmly. [You have got a new mission. Make $100,000 in three days. Your reward for completing the mission is a $1,000,000]

“Wait, what?!” August asked in shock. “This wasn’t what I expected….” Before he could finish talking, the panel vanished. “Wait…shit!” He cursed in frustration as he brushed his hands through his hair while avoiding Dan’s face. How the hell would he tell him the new mission was making money when both of them are jobless.

“What? What is it now?” Dan asked as August feigned a smile.

“Nothing. I mean there’s something.” He said quickly. “I have got a new mission. By the system….” He said the words one by one, as if he was choking his words carefully.

“And?” Dan asked.

“It….” August dragged his words while studying Dan’s expression.

“What?” Dan was getting impatient now.

“A $100,000.” August said as Dan’s eyes widened. “You will be getting a $100,000?” His eyes widened.

August shook his head as the smile on Dan’s face faded.

“I am to make a $100,000 in three days. The reward is a million dollars.”

“What?! How is that possible? Are we supposed to rob a bank?”

“No. No, I guess not.” August replied.

“Come on, man. You have to give up. This system shit. It is playing with you.” Dan said and turned to leave, but August thought he was still out to kill himself as he quickly stopped him.

“I don’t think so, Dan.” He said as Dan exhaled.

“So what’s the plan? You can’t possibly make that amount in three days. Just give up man.” He placed a hand on August's shoulder to pacify him.

“We just have to accept our fate and live on.” He said and shook his head and turned to leave.

“No! Never! I won’t give up.”

Dan turned to look at him to see a determined look on his face.

“Those jerks at Arizona group ruined my life. Zara. She was everything to me. I won’t stop until I have a company worth more than them, Dan.” August said as Dan looked as if he could relate to his situation, a sorry look on his face.

“Good. I love the spirit. You can as well do it alone. I’m out bro.” He said with a cheeky smile. That moment, August's eyes caught something on a billboard. A way. A way to make $100,000 in two days.
