"Where is Miss Easton?" Matthew Martin asked seemingly casually.

Thomas Easton thought Matthew was just asking out of politeness and replied with a made-up excuse, "She's sick. From now on, I will be responsible for the subsequent cooperation with your company."

Matthew nodded and said, "In that case, let's wait until Miss Easton recovers before discussing further."

After saying this, Matthew turned and left.

Thomas was stunned for a moment and quickly caught up to him, saying, "Mr. Martin, I assure you that I am equally capable, if not more capable than Daphne Easton. Our cooperation with your company..."

Before Thomas could finish, Matthew stopped beside his car. "There are many who want to cooperate with Blue Horizon Real Estate. Since the Easton family seems insincere, I will reconsider this matter."

Watching Matthew's car drive away, Thomas stood there, dumbfounded. He had thought Matthew wouldn't care much, but his stance was unexpectedly firm.

Reconsider the cooperation!

This statement sent chills down Thomas's spine. The Easton family, being a mid-tier competitor, had been fortunate to secure this cooperation. If he were to ruin it, would the matriarch spare him?

What to do?

Could it be that he really needed to let Daphne Easton, whom he despised, take over?

Reluctant, Thomas recalled his boastful words to Daphne just the night before. If he had to beg her to fix this mess, what face would he have left?

At that moment, Thomas's phone rang.

"Thomas, Grandma is already at the company. Hasn't Matthew Martin arrived yet?" Christopher Easton asked.

He was quite pleased, thinking this opportunity could cement Thomas's position in the company, virtually assuring his future as chairman.

"I'll be right there," Thomas replied somberly.

In the meeting room, the Easton relatives were all present. Given the importance of the cooperation, no one dared to be absent.

The matriarch, sitting at the head of the table, saw Thomas enter alone and asked, "Hasn't Matthew Martin arrived?"

"Grandma," Thomas said, his head lowered.

The matriarch's brows furrowed. "What happened? You didn't offend Matthew, did you?"

At these words, everyone looked worriedly at Thomas, especially Michael, who had been proud of Thomas's opportunity.

If Thomas had messed it up, his chances of securing a director's position would be slim.

"Thomas, what's going on? Did Matthew change the meeting time because he was busy?" Michael asked.

"Because Daphne wasn't there, Matthew got angry. He said... he said..."

Seeing Thomas stammer, the matriarch slammed her hand on the table, demanding, "He said what?"

Thomas, frightened, quickly said, "He said he would reconsider the cooperation with the Easton family."

The matriarch, furious, wouldn't have changed the project leader if not for Thomas's intervention the night before.

Now, Matthew was upset because of it.

Many companies coveted this cooperation, and many wanted a piece of the pie. The Easton family had this chance, but now it might slip away because of Christopher and Thomas.

"If the Easton family fails to cooperate with Blue Horizon, you two are out of the family," the matriarch said through gritted teeth.

The father and son turned pale, never expecting such severe consequences. The matriarch's words were final.

"Grandma, the contract is already signed. Can he still back out?" Thomas asked, unwilling to give up.

The matriarch scoffed, "Do you even know who backs Blue Horizon? With the Easton family's clout, how can you possibly influence them? Even if he brings the breach penalty to you, would you dare to take it?"

Her words silenced the relatives. Who would dare to accept the penalty with the Lowell family of Capital City backing Blue Horizon?

"This matter can only be salvaged by Daphne. It's up to you now," the matriarch said before angrily leaving.

The other relatives' looks towards Thomas changed. They knew that after this incident, Daphne's position in the company might rise, potentially threatening Thomas.

Previously, they sided with Thomas because he seemed most likely to become chairman.

But now, his mistake had damaged his image in the matriarch's eyes, making his future uncertain.

"Thomas, this is something you have to solve yourself. We can't help you."

"Yes, the matriarch is furious. You better find a solution quickly."

"We have other matters to attend to, so we'll be leaving first."

The relatives scattered like birds.

Only Christopher and Thomas remained in the meeting room.

Christopher, seething with anger, said, "I can't believe what kind of spell Daphne has cast on Matthew. Despite your status in the company, he still snubbed you."

Thomas, nearly grinding his teeth to dust, sneered, "Perhaps Daphne has given that useless man a green hat. I never thought she was such a person."

"Regardless, only she can handle this now. Remember, Grandma never goes back on her words," Christopher sighed.

Thomas felt a headache coming on. He regretted calling Daphne the night before.

Now he had to personally ask for her help, an embarrassingly swift turn of events.

"I have to call her."

Thomas took out his phone and dialed Daphne's number.

This matter couldn't wait. If Matthew chose another partner, there would be no chance for recovery.

Daphne, ordered to rest at home, was watching TV in a foul mood when her phone rang.

As she got up to answer it, Isaiah Lowell reached for the phone first.

"It's Thomas. I'll answer for you," Isaiah said.

Daphne, unsure of what Isaiah was planning, didn't object.

"Come to the company immediately," Isaiah put the call on speaker, and Thomas's voice came through.

Hearing Thomas, Daphne was infuriated. Wasn't his boasting enough? Now he wanted to humiliate her at the company?

Just as she was about to speak, Isaiah signaled her to be silent.

"Daphne is sick," Isaiah said.

Hearing Isaiah's voice, Thomas sounded impatient. "Hand the phone to Daphne. You're not qualified to talk to me."

"Oh," Isaiah replied nonchalantly, then hung up and turned off the phone.

"What are you doing?" Daphne asked, puzzled.

"Thomas is asking for your help. He probably upset Matthew, who now refuses to discuss the cooperation. He wants you to intervene," Isaiah explained.

Daphne was taken aback. "Really?"

"Of course."

Daphne got up, eager to go. "We should hurry then."

"No need to rush. It's him who should be worried. I think Grandma is very angry right now. Thomas is begging you to save him. He schemed to take your position, and you're going to help him just like that?" Isaiah said.

Daphne still didn't understand.

This cooperation was crucial for the Easton family.

If she succeeded, she could elevate her status. If things went wrong, Thomas would be punished, but she wouldn't benefit either.

"What should I do?" she asked.

"Wait. Let him come begging. This is your chance for revenge," Isaiah smiled.

"But..."

"Don't worry. Remember, the boss of Blue Horizon is my classmate. Even if it's delayed for a few days, it won't be a problem," Isaiah reassured her.

Daphne finally understood, her eyes gleaming as she looked at Isaiah, who lay casually on the sofa.

"Isaiah Lowell, I didn't expect you to be such a cunning one."

Thomas Easton spoke to the matriarch in their villa's living room. The matriarch, as if it was the most natural thing, said, "Since Daphne secured this contract, naturally she should be responsible for it. Is there a problem?""Mom, you need to think this through. Daphne is, after all, a woman. If she establishes authority in the company, it won't be good for Thomas," Christopher Easton, father of Thomas interjected. The matriarch looked at them disapprovingly. "Speak plainly. Don't beat around the bush with me.""Grandma, Isaiah Lowell may have married into our family, but at the end of the day, he's an outsider. And for three whole years, that useless man has achieved nothing. If Daphne gains control, aren't you afraid our family's assets will end up in the hands of an outsider?" Thomas argued."Daphne has no real affection for that waste, Isaiah. If not for our family's reputation, I would've had them
