Reunion

[ Speed points: 5/50 ]

Frank came to a halt as he saw his speed points drop to a low number, there was no need to worry as he needed to just walk a few meters to get to the camp now.

[ Superspeed deactivated ]

'This ability is a real lifesaver.' He thought as he looked ahead.

[ Stats ]

[ Strength: 5 ]

[ Endurance: 4 ]

[ Dexterity: 9 ]

'I had gotten two points in dexterity after killing four of those foxes, foxes are known for being quick and agile, and killing them had given me stat points in dexterity.'

Frank had just figured out how he got stat points, his stat points allocation worked, it was based on the physical properties of the beast, he had gotten one point in strength after killing a bear which was known for strength, and for the foxes, he had gotten stat points in dexterity.

'I guess to get stat points in endurance I have to kill a buffalo.' Frank thought as he continued his walk to the camp.

He was surprised when he entered the camp to notice how dead quiet everywhere was. The place was never noisy but usually, there would be slight sounds that would indicate that there were people there but right now he couldn't hear any of those sounds.

As he walked past the first group of tents on both sides he still couldn't hear anything.

'Where did everyone go?' He thought as he stopped to make sure he wasn't walking into something dangerous.

"Blondie." He heard a voice behind him.

There was only one person he remembered to have that voice, there was only one person that called him that name but how did she get here.

He turned to make sure he wasn't hearing things and quickly found himself in a sudden embrace that made him drop the black bag and that confirmed that he wasn't hearing things.

"I thought you were dead," Christiana said with her arms wrapped around him.

Frank was trying to comprehend what was happening, first how did she get here, he was very sure that she wasn't among the girls in the camp and then he didn't think she cared for him to the extent of suddenly hugging him because she hadn't seen him for a long while and thought he was dead.

"I thought you were dead too," Frank said. "How did you get here?"

"Oh common, do you guys want to act romance in front of me." A voice said before Christiana could reply.

That was also a voice he hadn't heard before, the two quickly broke the hug and Christian's cheeks went red in embarrassment knowing that Carl had seen them like that but Frank didn't think it was a big deal.

"I was just making sure it was really him," Christiana said scuffing.

"Yeah, with a hug, you could have said you were giving him a check-up, that would sound better," Carl said.

Frank couldn't keep his eyes off his best friend as he was beginning to think that he was in a dream now.

"Carl." He said.

"Yeah bro, I know what you're thinking." He said as he walked closer to him. "And yes it's me." He said punching him on the shoulder but Frank didn't wince like he usually did.

"Where have you guys been, I thought you were dead when I couldn't find any of you here," Frank said.

"I know you have a lot of questions and so do we," Christiana said as she walked ahead. "But we have a situation." She added and disappeared between the tents in the area.

"What situation is she talking about?" Frank asked, he already had an idea of what the situation might be but he just wanted to confirm things.

"Come on, I'll tell you when we get there," Carl said, already walking ahead.

'I just hope this isn't what I'm thinking.' Frank thought as he followed behind his best friend.

Frank followed his best friend through the camp and throughout their walk he couldn't hear anything, the camp was dead silent.

"Where is everyone?" Frank asked.

"Outside," Carl said.

Just like he said, as they approached the camp's exit that was when Frank began to hear noises coming from outside.

Immediately they reached the last tent, Frank couldn't believe what he was seeing now, the people in this camp weren't that much, but what he was seeing now was triple that size and now there were more soldiers there.

"Frank!" Jessica called on seeing his son.

She limped towards him and quickly locked him in a hug.

'What's with all the emotional hugs?'

"Where did you go? I was so worried."

"I went to throw the refuse away. What's going on?"

Jessica pulled out from the hug and turned to where the soldiers were all standing, there were three new soldiers which he hadn't seen before and then there was Lieutenant Roger, Sergeant David, and Sergeant Glik.

"Attention everyone!" One of the new soldiers yelled as he stepped forward.

He waited till everywhere was dead silent before he continued.

"Those of you in my camp already know who I am but I will introduce myself for the sake of those in this camp. I am Lieutenant Devon. I was put in charge of the camp south of here but this morning I got an urgent message from one of my scouts.

"He said he saw a horde of beasts heading straight for our camp. I had no option but to immediately move these people."

The murmurs amongst the people had begun again after he finished saying that.

"Another horde," Frank said with a gasp.

"We are going to die."

"I assure you all that no one is going to die, me and Lieutenant Roger over here have already contacted those at the capital to send us some vans so that we can get out of here.

"They will be here in a couple of minutes."

'Did he say a couple of minutes?' Frank thought as he looked far ahead to see the horde already approaching them from afar.

It didn't take long for someone else to see what he was seeing and with a scream from the woman as she pointed in the direction and immediately everyone entered a state of panic.

"Everyone move!" Lieutenant Roger shouted at the top of his lungs as he and the other soldiers turned towards the horde that was approaching them with full force.

This horde was even larger than the last one they faced, the other soldiers gulped as more and more beasts came into view.

"There's no chance of killing all of them, we just have to hope we can outrun them and suffer no casualties," Roger said.

Just then a hoarse sound was heard and Roger didn't need to look up to know what that was.

"Everyone get down!" He screamed as he quickly got on the floor but the instruction was already too late as one of the soldiers with Lieutenant Devon dropped on the floor, headless.

"That damned hawk." Roger cursed but when he looked up, he and the other soldiers couldn't comprehend what they were seeing now as the shadows circled them.

There were six of the Hawks in the sky and they were circling them while they lay on the ground.
