The Glory Merchants Inn, although dilapidated and run down, was actually an ancient edifice that had existed since the inception of Qinlingjun City. In a mere span of a few seconds however, it was completely wrecked and reduced to rubbles.
The culprits, two rogue-looking cultivators, hovered above the site as they engaged in an intense battle confrontation, throwing deadly attacks at each other. Clearly, the explosion was a result of a divine art one of them had cast in combat just now. As they fought, they paid no heed to the damage they were causing to the surroundings, including innocent passers-bys trying to flee from the scene. As a matter of fact, the rush was so intense that a stampede occurred. "Hey, put me down right now!" Balanced precariously across Pei Xue's left shoulder, Fang Yu's expression alternated between panic at the situation and intense embarrassment. However, Pei Xue ignored him and did not stop running until they were a safe distance away from the battle zone. Seeing the discontent look on Fang Yu's face as she put him down, she said, "You know, I didn't mean to damage your masculine glory or whatever. I just acted on instinct in the moment to get you out of there as quickly as possible." "Well, thank you," Fang Yu said through gritted teeth. Pei Xue paid him no more attention and turned her gaze to the battle in the distance. A vicious glint flashed across her eyes all of a sudden. "Small world, tsk tsk. The one with the jagged scar across his left eye happens to be one of those who chased after us earlier when you were unconscious, and he's presently on the losing end of the fight," she laughed maliciously. "Uhn?" Fang Yu was puzzled. From the distance he was at, his eyes could only vaguely make out two figures in the air and nothing more. Pei Xue's words suggested she possesed an eyesight beyond mortal limits. "Didn't you integrate with a Godshard successfully? How come you haven't unlocked your divine body and abilities yet?" Pei Xue hissed irritably. "Or, are you pretending you haven't awakened yet so I can drop my defences?" Her words indirectly revealed a crucial bit of information to Fang Yu. His eyes narrowed and he asked sharply, "What are you talking about?" Pei Xue didn't reply immediately. When she did, her tone was calmer, "Nevermind that for now. Let's move further away from here." "Wait!" Fang Yu hurriedly spoke up just as she began to reach for him. "Can you just....hold my hand instead and pull me along as you go?" "That's a terrible suggestion. With my speed, your arm will end up yanked off," Pei Xue said and suddenly smirked. "Actually, I just had an amazing idea." "......" Three minutes later, Fang Yu wore a gloomy expression as the cold wind blew past his face. Beneath him, Pei Xue moved as gracefully as a crane while grasping his legs tightly. He was actually perched on her back in an awkward piggyback position. The good news was that Pei Xue's speed was pretty fast, and they soon left the battle zone far behind. Pei Xue shrugged Fang Yu off her back and gazed at the towering gates which were only a few metres away. "We can take advantage of the chaos happening in the city right now to make away without stringent security checks and interference," she said. "Or, we can choose to disguise our identities and remain in the city for a while. Which do you prefer?" Fang Yu noted her use of the 'we' instead of 'you' or 'I'. Essentially, it hinted that she was responsible not just for herself but for him too. "Why didn't you dump me and make away when I was unconscious earlier?" Fang Yu turned serious and suddenly asked. "What do you mean?" Pei Xue frowned. "I just want to know," Fang Yu said. "It's not exactly logical for protect someone you've barely known for twenty-four hours. What's the deal?" Just then, the city gates started to close up. Clearly, an instruction had been given to barricade all entrances and exits to and away from Qinlingjun City. "Great, now we have to figure out another way to get out of here," Pei Xue hissed irritably, looking vexed. She suddenly addressed Fang Yu directly. "The question you're really asking is whether I'm still the original Pei Xue or not, right?" Fang Yu's lips twitched but he didn't refute her words. Pei Xue continued. "You guessed right, I'm not Pei Xue anymore," she blinked charmingly as she spoke. "I don't know what the old man was thinking, trying to have mortals wield the power of us divine gods just like that. His experiment was doomed for failure from the start." 'Now that she has directly confessed, will she eliminate me next?' Fang Yu was actually not surprised by her words but was more worried about her next actions. It didn't help that an invisible pressure from her body started to bear down on him from the moment she confessed. "You're quite the interesting case, you know," Pei Xue continued. "At first, I couldn't tell if you were team original mortal consciousness or team divine revivee like myself. Even now, I'm not entirely certain." Far behind them, in the direction of the battle zone, another loud explosion sounded. Pei Xue and Fang Yu didn't turn around to look but remained locked in eye contact. "By the way, I don't have any bad intentions. If you're a divine revivee like myself, I'm open to working with you as we recover our cultivation base and Dao Fruits. If you're still your original mortal consciousness though, you're not of much use to me besides being an attendant. I just revived after all and might need the occasional company to soothe my hyperactive mental state!" At this point, she disengaged from the intense eye contact showdown she was having with Fang Yu. "Based on your unnecessarily tense expression just now, it seems it's the latter that applies in this case." "I don't know what you're talking about," Fang Yu replied calmly. However, his back was totally drenched in sweat. 'If she decides to go on a rampage right now, I have no way to fight back,' he realized. The Pei Xue before him had awakened divine abilities and was clearly no longer a mortal, rendering his 'water gun's trump card useless. In Fang Yu's Taotie Sack, he also had a locally-made grenade with medium volatility output. If he hadn't been locked in place by Pei Xue's aura, he would have tried using it as a final resort. "Do you really not?" Pei Xue smiled coldly and suddenly grabbed him by the arm. Fang Yu abruptly felt a stinging sensation as her fingers dug into his skin. There was a greenish glow at the point of contact and he felt something burrow into his body. "Now, I'll like to see how much longer you can pretend!" Pei Xue ignored Fang Yu's expression and grinned maliciously. Suddenly, a surge of Qi which was previously latent in Fang Yu's body became active and merged into his bloodstream, becoming a sentient wisp of blood qi. It quickly travelled to his right arm and confronted the invading creature, a Gu worm the size of a silk thread. Meanwhile, Pei Xue's facial expression abruptly changed. Before she could react, she felt the link she shared with the Gu worm get destroyed. Fang Yu only felt the stinging pain in his arm subside. At the same time, he looked at Pei Xue in surprise and wondered why she was bleeding from the nose all of a sudden. "Hhm?" His attention was soon drawn by another anomaly; without his conscious control, his entire arm stiffened and became numb. A sheen of blood escaped from his pores and left his arm to materialize into a familiar figure in front of him. "Master?"

Gao Weiguang saw Fang Yu's confusion and chuckled, "What, do you have any opinions?" Fang Yu had a bold idea and suddenly shook his head, "I do. Your idea sucks!" "Hhm?" Gao Weiguang's face suddenly turned cold and a wave of murderous intent exploded from his body. Fang Yu remained unfazed and continued, "What makes you think you have to conquer the world first to destroy it? There are better, easier ways to do so in advance." Gao Weiguang looked at Fang Yu strangely as if for the first time. After a while, he spoke. "You know. I can tell there's something off about you. You're not under my control despite the sigil." Fang Yu stiffened but he did not flinch. Since he was playing the long game, there was no point denying. Gao Weiguang took his stuff expression for fear and said, "Don't stress about it, I'm not so interested in finding out why. The reason I called you here is because it's been a while since there was a human demon in this region." "Oh!" Fang Yu finally understood
Before
Another thought eventually occurred to Fang Yu as an alternative and he acted on it immediately. "Old Ze, does the Sect still have that unique method to refine a living person into a Demon Slave Soldier?" he asked. Old Ze had a surprised expression on his face immediately, not because of Fang Yu's request but at the weird address. "Since when did you start calling me Old Ze?" Fang Yu only realized then and hurriedly changed his words, "Err....Big Brother?" "That's more like it," Old Ze nodded contentedly. "Anyways, we do have the method. Why do you ask?" "I want to look through it," Fang Yu said noncommittally. Centuries of subjugating and eradicating Demons had given the Matchless Sword Sect the privilege of collecting a large number of demon path resources and inheritances, and the most mysterious of them all was the Demon Slave Soldier Method. On the surface, it sounded like a technique used by demons to enslave others to do their bidding, but it was actually the opposite. A

Old Ze eyed Fang Yu suspiciously as he asked his question before answering with one of his own, "Did the fall damage your head? What do you mean asking how we're brothers?" Fang Yu felt a growing headache, "We're dao brothers?" "No, we're biological brothers," Old Ze was now truly worried that Fang Yu's concussion had affected his memories. "You don't remember?" "What's my name then?" Fang Yu suddenly asked as he realized his identity in this cycle seemed to be different. "Ze Yu!" Old Ze said. "You're acting strange, should I get the healer to see you?" "What happened to me really?" Fang Yu asked as he touched a hand to the back of his head which was throbbing. "You fell while I took you training and bashed your head," Old Ze replied. Fang Yu asked a couple more questions before confirming the situation. The timeline was a couple hundred years after he ascended to the Immortal Realm and Old Ze had no idea about about anyone named Fang Yu. "I'm not sure if he can't remem

On this note, Heaven Cardinal was indeed assimilating the memories of his clone somewhere in the Infinite Void this very moment. "Hhm, a younger variant of that pest Nexus and another puny ant with just as much potential..." He muttered to himself. "I can't let these two live!" With a thought, a drop of blood was ejected from his body and turned into a new incarnation. Under his control, it disintegrated and vanished into the first layer of Limbo. Even for Dao Fruit powerhouses, it was reckless to enter Limbo under normal circumstances even with an Avatar. This was because the construct's uniqueness of inverting falsehood and truth could literally drag in their primary body alongside. It was only by utilizing his own uniqueness that Heaven Cardinal could pull it off without worrying about harm this true body. At this point, his [Existence] was almost completely integrated with the Core Grand Dao Will of the Infinite Trichilocosm Void. In fact, his original reason for exploring

On this note, Fang Yu considered something else. Given that he had crashed all the available Limbo cycles, didn't that mean he had inadvertently trapped these powerhouses in their own false reality constructs and doomed them to an eternity as NPCs in stasis? "No, it is impossible that there are only eighty powerhouses in Limbo," the thought suddenly occured to Fang Yu. The reasoning behind this was that surely, more than that number of cultivators had attempted the Dao Fruit bottleneck and failed to break through over the eons of existence of the Infinite Void Trichilocosm. "There has to be something essential I'm missing here," Fang Yu mused and carelessly raised a hand to stroke his chin. It was at this moment he sensed the extreme fragility of the space around him. Before now, he had not paid much heed, but with the successive strengthening of his foundation overtime, he suddenly had an illusive sense of his strength overpowering his environment. When he had first arrived he

Fang Yu eventually let go of his worries and started to walk towards a new False Reality Limbo Node not far away. At the end, the temptation of greater power was stronger than his fear of uncertainty. Besides, the idea of staying in the dark stretch alone for eons with no activity was no less risky in terms of silent assimilation compared to actively exploring a Limbo cycle. This was the thought that ran through his mind as he entered the next light zone. ******* It was a beautiful thing, watching a dead world burn. This was the thought that emerged in Roan's mind as he gazed at the burning planet in the distance. Dromus had long lost its shine and was the image of a grey marble now, shrouded in toxic ash and the chaotic tempests stirred by its recent destruction. However, there was a portion of the burning planet which was unaffected, with a shield dome flickering around the area. Beside Roan, a quarter of the crew of the Black Talon Pirates were watching the scene in i
