Beside Fang Yu, Pei Xue grimaced as she stared at the blood Avatar. The latter was looking at her disapprovingly.

"Master, I thought.....Pei Xue told me you were captured?" Fang Yu expressed his surprise.

"As you should be able to tell, this is only an Avatar, not my original self!" Of course, the blood avatar was not actually speaking but manipulated the air around him to create sound waves. His gaze left Pei Xue and he continued. "I secretly left this on you as a contingency against malicious situations."

Fang Yu secretly breathed a sigh of relief. For a while now, he had been on tenterhooks with Pei Xue around him. The presence of Gao Weiguang, even only a blood clone, was a huge relief.

Pei Xue opened her mouth to speak then but Gao Weiguang simply waved her hand, sending a rune flying into her body and freezing her in place. Afterwards, he turned his attention back to Fang Yu.

"An Immobilization Rune to keep her docile," he explained adding, "Be careful around your Junior Sister. As you can tell–"

"–she's not the same person. Got it!" Fang Yu grimaced. "I have a lot of questions."

"I'm sure you do. As a matter of fact, I have a lot of questions myself," Gao Weiguang gazed at the surroundings and suddenly shook his head. "This place is not very safe."

With these words, he placed a hand on both Fang Yu and Pei Xue and activated a mysterious technique. In a flash, their figures vanished from the spot.

* * * *

Fang Yu was openly awed and looked at Gao Weiguang repeatedly. His intense stare made the blood clone uncomfortable.

"What's so surprising? You've been ogling me openly since we got here."

"It's nothing, I'm just surprised that you can teleport us away and scan the surroundings to find a safe spot despite only being...a blood Avatar?"

Gao Weiguang chuckled, "There's nothing surprising about that. This level of this cloning technique of mine is high, allowing me borrow quite a bit of my original abilities. The only downside is that it can't last for very long."

Fang Yu's heart skipped a beat. He cast a surreptitious glance at Pei Xue whose entire body was still frozen on the spot and frowned.

"I don't think she has bad intentions. If anything, she was probably more curious than murderous," Gao Weiguang noticed the caution on Fang Yu face. "As a matter of fact, I am too."

"How so?"

"The godshard Integration should have ended a particular way. From what I can sense, your present condition is the complete opposite."

"You mean the way I managed to retain my consciousness?" Fang Yu's expression darkened. "So, the original expectation was for me to turn out like her?" His head made a little jerk in Pei Xue's direction.

"Yes, that was the original intention," Gao Weiguang did not mince words. "The ideal situation."

Fang Yu frowned.

"There are only two possible outcomes from my crazy plan to have a mortal integrate with something as noble and mysterious as a Dao Fruit; certain death or possession. I knew that from the very start, which is why I devised an alternate method.

Ideally, with this method, the mortal soul is corroded and the divine god's consciousness in the godshard takes over. But there's a catch; while they recover their cultivation base and abilities, the mortal soul they possessed will be in a symbiotic state with them, latent but present. In this condition, they'll be able to access all of the possessor's memories, secrets, thoughts, everything. The symbiotic fusion will also slowly strengthen the mortal soul to divine status."

By now, Fang Yu's reaction was obviously different from before. His entire attention was captured as Gao Weiguang continued.

"By the time the god consciousness is ready to recondense their Dao Fruit, the mortal consciousness should have been sufficiently strengthened to some extent, gaining fighting qualifications to wrest back control of their physical body," Gao Weiguang finished. "This is the opportunity I hinted to the four of you about."

Fang Yu was in deep thoughts for a while before he said, "It can't be that simple, right?"

"You're right," Gao Weiguang smiled. "At the end of the day, the possessors, no matter how weak, were once bonafide divine gods. As soon as they awaken, they will become aware of the symbiotic mortal consciousness fused with them and most likely act to eliminate this latent threat. If the mortal consciousness cannot resist, then......." He left his words hanging.

Fang Yu's expression darkened further, "So this has always been a death trap?"

"Yes, but no," Gao Weiguang replied. "Truly, there was no question at all that a mortal consciousness will not survive getting refined by a god. But, the deeper the symbiotic fusion of the mortal and god consciousnesses, the more impossible it is for the latter to eliminate the former.

During the integration, some runes should have merged with the soul to grant it a very temporary protection. I arranged it that way so that it should take about three months after the possession before the god consciousness can attempt to refine the mortal soul. This should be enough time to initiate symbiosis and leverage a safe balance."

As he spoke, Fang Yu remembered the runes that had randomly appeared to form a puppet body around him during his godshard Integration. This train of thought made him remember that he should be more concerned about how and why his situation was abnormal compared to the process his Master outlined.

Gao Weiguang seemed to be thinking the same thing too as he said next, "Clearly, you didn't have the same exact experience. Describe your fusion process without skipping any detail, I'll try to deduce what went wrong."

"Can't you just send some qi into my mind to find out?" Fang Yu asked ignorantly.

"Your mind? That's not how it works," Gao Weiguang chuckled. "Besides, I'm only a clone formed from a single wisp of Qi and some of your blood. After teleporting you two to this hideout, I don't have much power left."

Fang Yu nodded slowly and then recounted his integration process, only skipping a particular detail. This tiny bit did not go unnoticed by Gao Weiguang who questioned him about it almost immediately.

"You said you simulated an object. Which one?"

'There's no way I can mention that I simulated a universe without revealing my status as a transmigrator,' Fang Yu thought to himself. He had been in this world for four years and knew that the average mortal knew nothing about other universes. As far as they were concerned, they lived on this planet and that was it. He even suspected that most cultivators had no idea about such concepts either.

"I simulated a sun," Fang Yu finally said. Since he couldn't spill about the universe, he settled for the next best thing. Anyways, a flaming sun was actually the center of his planetary system, although he had a feeling that the crux of the visualization were the planets themselves and not the solar body.

It was Gao Weiguang's turn to fall into thoughts. When he eventually spoke, his voice was sombre.

"I think you might have accidentally rediscovered the way of ancient cultivation."

Gao Weiguang saw Fang Yu's confusion and chuckled, "What, do you have any opinions?" Fang Yu had a bold idea and suddenly shook his head, "I do. Your idea sucks!" "Hhm?" Gao Weiguang's face suddenly turned cold and a wave of murderous intent exploded from his body. Fang Yu remained unfazed and continued, "What makes you think you have to conquer the world first to destroy it? There are better, easier ways to do so in advance." Gao Weiguang looked at Fang Yu strangely as if for the first time. After a while, he spoke. "You know. I can tell there's something off about you. You're not under my control despite the sigil." Fang Yu stiffened but he did not flinch. Since he was playing the long game, there was no point denying. Gao Weiguang took his stuff expression for fear and said, "Don't stress about it, I'm not so interested in finding out why. The reason I called you here is because it's been a while since there was a human demon in this region." "Oh!" Fang Yu finally understood

Another thought eventually occurred to Fang Yu as an alternative and he acted on it immediately. "Old Ze, does the Sect still have that unique method to refine a living person into a Demon Slave Soldier?" he asked. Old Ze had a surprised expression on his face immediately, not because of Fang Yu's request but at the weird address. "Since when did you start calling me Old Ze?" Fang Yu only realized then and hurriedly changed his words, "Err....Big Brother?" "That's more like it," Old Ze nodded contentedly. "Anyways, we do have the method. Why do you ask?" "I want to look through it," Fang Yu said noncommittally. Centuries of subjugating and eradicating Demons had given the Matchless Sword Sect the privilege of collecting a large number of demon path resources and inheritances, and the most mysterious of them all was the Demon Slave Soldier Method. On the surface, it sounded like a technique used by demons to enslave others to do their bidding, but it was actually the opposite. A

Old Ze eyed Fang Yu suspiciously as he asked his question before answering with one of his own, "Did the fall damage your head? What do you mean asking how we're brothers?" Fang Yu felt a growing headache, "We're dao brothers?" "No, we're biological brothers," Old Ze was now truly worried that Fang Yu's concussion had affected his memories. "You don't remember?" "What's my name then?" Fang Yu suddenly asked as he realized his identity in this cycle seemed to be different. "Ze Yu!" Old Ze said. "You're acting strange, should I get the healer to see you?" "What happened to me really?" Fang Yu asked as he touched a hand to the back of his head which was throbbing. "You fell while I took you training and bashed your head," Old Ze replied. Fang Yu asked a couple more questions before confirming the situation. The timeline was a couple hundred years after he ascended to the Immortal Realm and Old Ze had no idea about about anyone named Fang Yu. "I'm not sure if he can't remem

On this note, Heaven Cardinal was indeed assimilating the memories of his clone somewhere in the Infinite Void this very moment. "Hhm, a younger variant of that pest Nexus and another puny ant with just as much potential..." He muttered to himself. "I can't let these two live!" With a thought, a drop of blood was ejected from his body and turned into a new incarnation. Under his control, it disintegrated and vanished into the first layer of Limbo. Even for Dao Fruit powerhouses, it was reckless to enter Limbo under normal circumstances even with an Avatar. This was because the construct's uniqueness of inverting falsehood and truth could literally drag in their primary body alongside. It was only by utilizing his own uniqueness that Heaven Cardinal could pull it off without worrying about harm this true body. At this point, his [Existence] was almost completely integrated with the Core Grand Dao Will of the Infinite Trichilocosm Void. In fact, his original reason for exploring

On this note, Fang Yu considered something else. Given that he had crashed all the available Limbo cycles, didn't that mean he had inadvertently trapped these powerhouses in their own false reality constructs and doomed them to an eternity as NPCs in stasis? "No, it is impossible that there are only eighty powerhouses in Limbo," the thought suddenly occured to Fang Yu. The reasoning behind this was that surely, more than that number of cultivators had attempted the Dao Fruit bottleneck and failed to break through over the eons of existence of the Infinite Void Trichilocosm. "There has to be something essential I'm missing here," Fang Yu mused and carelessly raised a hand to stroke his chin. It was at this moment he sensed the extreme fragility of the space around him. Before now, he had not paid much heed, but with the successive strengthening of his foundation overtime, he suddenly had an illusive sense of his strength overpowering his environment. When he had first arrived he

Fang Yu eventually let go of his worries and started to walk towards a new False Reality Limbo Node not far away. At the end, the temptation of greater power was stronger than his fear of uncertainty. Besides, the idea of staying in the dark stretch alone for eons with no activity was no less risky in terms of silent assimilation compared to actively exploring a Limbo cycle. This was the thought that ran through his mind as he entered the next light zone. ******* It was a beautiful thing, watching a dead world burn. This was the thought that emerged in Roan's mind as he gazed at the burning planet in the distance. Dromus had long lost its shine and was the image of a grey marble now, shrouded in toxic ash and the chaotic tempests stirred by its recent destruction. However, there was a portion of the burning planet which was unaffected, with a shield dome flickering around the area. Beside Roan, a quarter of the crew of the Black Talon Pirates were watching the scene in i
