Chapter 19: Class Evolution – System Sovereign (I) Part 1

Twelve days had passed since the public execution of Victor Kane and the granting of the Subordinate System to Marcus Reed.

Nexus Territory was no longer just a surviving city block; it was a rising fortress.

The Nexus Anchor at the center of Central Park now pulsed with a steady blue light—visible even at night—serving as a beacon for the lost and a warning to hostiles. Under Xander’s relentless leadership, the number of loyal survivors had grown from 68 to 87. Families, former police officers, engineers, doctors, and even two hackers who had fled another faction had pledged their loyalty after seeing the basic wall being erected.

The wall was the territory's pride and joy.

Standing 4 meters high and 2.5 meters thick, it almost completely encircled the 800-meter radius (Xander had expanded the domain using points earned in the Blood Hive). It was no ordinary concrete structure. Using Law Weaver and hundreds of Nexus Points, Xander had infused the structure with System energy. Metal plates salvaged from wrecked cars were fused with Parasite Beetle shells and reinforced by faintly glowing blue runes. The wall could regenerate minor damage on its own and dealt electric shock damage to any monster that touched it.

Marcus Reed—now officially General Marcus—commanded the territory’s 47 combatants with military discipline. Daily training in the Basic Training Room had transformed frightened civilians into capable soldiers. His Tactical Command ability was constantly in use, boosting both the morale and the attributes of his men.

Lira Voss had become the Captain of Archers and Scouts. Her Parasitic Threads, combined with Mana Arrow, made her lethal at a distance. She had also assumed the quiet role of Xander’s personal protector—a duty she carried out with a mix of devotion and possessiveness. Dr. Elena Kurogami had transformed the third-floor laboratory into a System research center. Her studies on the Parasite Queen’s Core had already yielded two new experimental genetic resistance potions. She and Lira maintained a polite rivalry, yet both knew their place: they were the Sovereign’s favorites. No other woman in the territory dared to get too close to Xander.

Xander himself had changed even further.

With his level stabilized at 25, his body was a masterpiece of destruction and magnetism. Standing 1.94m tall, he carried 107kg of dense, perfectly proportioned muscle. Every movement radiated restrained power. His Sovereign presence was now so potent that people with a compatibility rating below 40% struggled to breathe when he walked by.

But something was still incomplete.

The System Sovereign class evolution had been merely the first stage. The System demanded more. It demanded a consecration ritual.

And on that day, the ritual arrived.

It was shortly after 2:00 PM when the sky above the territory cracked open once more.

It was no ordinary portal. It was a Dimensional Consecration Fissure—a rare event the System reserved for rising Administrators and Sovereigns. A black-and-gold vortex swirled slowly above the Nexus Anchor, releasing particles of pure energy.

A colossal screen, visible to all 87 inhabitants of the territory, appeared in the sky:

He wore only reinforced black trousers and boots. His bare torso revealed every line of sculpted muscle. Lira and Elena stood by his side. Marcus was already organizing the combatants into a defensive formation around the Anchor.

"Let them come," Xander said, his voice resonating like a decree. "This evolution will be witnessed by all. Let them see what their Sovereign will become."

He walked to the exact center of the Nexus Anchor and sat in the lotus position. As soon as he did, the fissure exploded with golden and blue light. Filaments of pure energy descended like inverted lightning, piercing his body.

The pain was indescribable.

Every cell in his body was being rewritten once more—no longer at the genetic level, but at the conceptual level. The System was not merely strengthening his body; it was etching the Law of Sovereignty directly into his soul.

Xander gritted his teeth. Veins bulged in his neck and arms. His muscles swelled further, fibers tearing and rebuilding themselves stronger and denser. His eyes glowed with pure golden light. The ethereal crown above his head solidified, becoming visible to everyone—a crown of blue light and gold with swirling runes.

Screams began to echo from beyond the wall.

The fissure had drawn a horde. Hundreds of monsters ranging from levels 12 to 22—evolved Blood Leech Hounds, Parasite Soldiers, Hybrid Drones, and even three Blood Hive Knights (Level 23)—emerged from the adjacent streets, lured by the energy of the evolution.
