"Haha!" His companions laughed heartily like he had just made the biggest joke of the century.

"Ay, Enzo, why are you still wasting time trying to reason with this senile, old man? Just give us your orders and we will go in there to bring her out for you," one of the young men suggested in between his laughter.

"Yes," another agreed. "You can get to play her hard tonight and who knows... we can even take turns!"

The men roared with laughter.

End up like her sister?

Among the words the vile men said, only these words registered in Kael's brain. His mind exploded and his eyes turned bloodshot.

"You... What did you say?" His voice was hoarse and he was trembling from fury this time.

Only then did Enzo notice him. The young man glanced at Kael's shabby appearance and turned his head disdainfully.

"Rowan, where did you find this beggar? Didn't anyone teach him to mind his business?"

Enzo looked at Kael again, examining him. And then, his eyes widened slightly and his finger shot out.

"Oh! It's you trash. I almost didn't recognize you. You actually returned?"

Enzo walked up to Kael and reached out to pat his mud stained cheek contemptuously. "It seems you didn't hear me clearly just now. I'll do you a favor and repeat my words."

His fingers trailed down to the shoulder plate of Kael's soiled coat. "You should have been there to hear Bridget's heart-wrenching cries as I fucked her hard in my bed."

Enzo's smug grin widened as he spoke. He didn't seem to notice how Kael turned rigid or how his fingers by his side clenched into fists.

"After I was done with her, I had my men throw her lifeless body down the top floor. You can ask around. Everyone in Solara knows. But you clearly don't know."

Ida's fingers flew up to suppress her gasp as tears ran down her face.

"Hehehe!"

Enzo threw his head back and laughed wildly. Back then, he had pursued Bridget earnestly and showered her expensive gifts.

Everyone in Solara knew of his intentions to win her hand in marriage. But what did that ungrateful wench do in return?

She rejected his advances, all his gifts and publicly humiliated him by getting married to a nobody. A waste!

"Kael, since you were her husband, I will tell you some more details," he smacked his lips as he spoke.

"Your wife was a rare gem. She was really fierce in bed and left several marks on my body. In return, I let fifteen of my men take turns w—"

Ngk!

Before he could complete his words, a big hand grabbed his neck and lifted him off the ground!

Kael's eyes darkened devilishly and he gritted his teeth as he tightened his hold around Enzo's neck. The latter's delicate white skin turned red!

'My Bridget,' Kael could only think of his wife. She had suffered so much and he wasn't even here to rescue her.

"You bastard!" He growled as he tightened his chokehold around Enzo's neck.

CRACK!

"You beast!" Enzo's lackeys recovered from their shock and yelled. "Let our young master go now!"

They held their weapons tightly and charged towards Kael, aiming right for his head.

SWISH!

BANG!

Before any of them could even get close, they were sent flying in different directions.

Enzo's face began to turn purple. His legs kicked hard in the air and his fingers tried to pry Kael's hand off his neck.

"You... better... let... go... of... me!" He choked out with great difficulty. "Do... you... know... who... I... am? I'm... the... young... master... of... the... Rutherford's... family! If... I die... you all... will... pay!"

But Kael didn't even react to his words. It was as if he didn't even hear. Instead, his fingers tightened harder and Enzo literally began to gasp for air.

Veins protruded on his face and he was unable to say anything else.

"Brother-in-law, let him go. I'll go with him."

A young, beautiful lady with a peerless face stepped out of the house. She bit her lips nervously, creating a sensual image. Her small fingers were clutching the hems of her skirt.

Panicking, she cautioned Kael, "Brother-in-law, he is from the Rutherford's family. If he dies at our doorstep today, we won't be able to explain it to his family. My cousin and uncle died because they offended his family."

Kael halted, his grip loosened around Enzo's neck. Then he turned to the young lady that had just spoken without a care for Enzo who hit the ground like a bag of flour.

THUD!

At the same time, every single high ranking official in Solara city received a notification from the provincial capital. The instructions were simple.[Gather your forces around Sunshine Orphanage. No one is allowed to go in or leave without permission from the King of Valor. If anyone dares to resist, shoot on site!]Meanwhile, in one of the rooms built just below the orphanage ground floor, a little boy was tied to the pillar. His eyes were fixated on the doctor standing beside the small bed positioned in one corner of the room. The young boy appeared very anxious, but because his mouth was gagged, he couldn't make any audible sound.A middle-aged man with a dirty goatee was standing beside the pillar, puffing out heavy smoke from the tobacco pipe in his hand. His lips curled up in a sinister way and he snarled at the boy, "You little bastard, if you dare steal someone's phone and try to snitch again, I'll break your arms.""I took you in to make money for me, not land me in jail,"

Outside the villa, Rowan looked up at the gigantic gate and gave an exhausted sigh. "What do we do now, Kael? It's obvious that Ivan won't back down. Those foolish noble families will obviously believe you two are acquainted.""Let it be," Kael shrugged nonchalantly. He really didn't care about Ivan's threats. The latter has no evidence of their acquaintance.Besides, if he wanted, he could easily expose Ivan's lies and trample on him with a few words. But as long as Ivan heed to their warnings and stop his foolish actions, he will let him survive.RING!RING!Kael's phone suddenly chimed loudly in his pockets. When he saw the caller ID flashing on the phone screen, his brows furrowed at the unknown number. He answered the call and lifted the phone to his ear with a hint of suspicion. As soon as the call connected, an urgent, childish voice came through the line."Uncle... uncle... Please, save my sister!"Kael's eyes widened slightly because he remembered the voice clearly. Ivan Sterling smirked at them, believing they were already intimidated by his words. He originally planned to bury the hatchet and have a good conversation with his older brother. But now it was obvious that Rowan didn't even want to acknowledge him.And as for Kael, Ivan didn't really care much about him. He was just a loser who had been lucky enough to return home safely. There is no reason to pay any special attention to a nobody like him."The last time I checked, that villa is in Bridget's name. Who are you to decide who gets it?" Rowan posed a calm question, watching his younger brother's face carefully."Humph! That slut is no longer alive. Should I just let her villa rot?"Kael's eyes darkened with fury. "She is your niece. Isn't it a bit too much to call her a slut?""Hahaha!" Ivan cackled mockingly as his gaze swept over Kael's frame. "Kid, have you forgotten that your father-in-law is no longer alive? A loser who married into our family has no right to interfere in our affa

"Humph! Why should I care about him? They are so poor and disgusting. It makes my skin crawl just thinking we'll be standing under the same roof," Serena Sterling spat out disdainfully."If it wasn't because of that bitch Bridget that gave them her villa before she died, they would have been living in the slums."THUD!She kicked a servant passing by, making the man trip and hit his face on the floor. Then she scolded him, "Can't you watch where you are going? You almost made me lose my footing. Now hurry up and clean this dirty footprint from the floor."The servant looked down at the floor shamefully. His fingers clenched but he didn't dare talk back.Instead, he hurriedly stood up and bowed. "I'm sorry, miss. I'll clean the dirty stain right away."The servant had only just begun to clean the stain when the entrance door swung open. Rowan and Kael appeared at the entrance, as they quietly scrutinized the grand decorations. As soon as Ivan noticed them, he hurried to meet them and u

  • 25: Spoiled The Family's Name

"At the very least, the assets should be in your name," Ida's gaze turned sharp and determined as she spoke. "Neither me or your uncle, nor Ivan's family deserve to inherit the fortune left by your father-in-law."She held Kael's hands and informed him bitterly, "Listen, you have been away for so long so you don't know many things that happened in your absence. After your father-in-law was killed, your uncle and I hid away in fear but guess what your uncle Ivan did."Her words caught Kael's attention. His brows knitted and he asked her calmly, "What did he do? I know he was always at loggerheads with father, but he wouldn't do anything extreme, right?""Ivan and his family took advantage of the situation and directly joined forces with Rutherford's family!" Ida snapped resentfully."All because they coveted the family fortune, they disregarded their familial ties and dignity."Just saying the words made Ida boil angrily. Kael stopped reading for a minute. His vision clouded and he was filled with grief. A tear dropped on the page as he read the last entry.[It's almost nine years now.
