Chaos

Three days passed and the cousins did not return to school, Paul took advantage of that time to level up a little, however he only went up a single level. It was the only thing that occurred to him to do in that short time, he also avoided going to the areas that the game already allowed him to go. He knew that he would probably have magical confrontations. He considered that despite his strength he couldn't even fight against the people there, besides that I didn't go up much.

The day before the magic festival he stayed at his family's house. This time he decided to help fix up the place, with some of the money that Marcos and Sabrina gave him. They were millionaires so for them it was nothing.

He saw some pretty weird things in the inventory he shared with Sabrina and preferred not to look at them. He just took what he needed. He climbed on the roof and wanted to change the broken tiles, he was surprised to see that half of them were in bad shape. There were even stones that someone had thrown there, so with some materials and some repair magic he tried to fix them all, since changing them manually was very tedious.

-Total repair

Immediately each one of the tiles was completely repaired. Until they were all completely new. Now the main problem was the walls, since they were more complicated. Several of them looked as if something had hit them. At that moment Paul began to think about the two players he had met. He didn't know if they had become noble or if the game assigned them such a role, but he returned to his reality and started to plug the holes in his house. For he noticed that more walls were cracking, as if they had a curse on them.

[...]

The day of the magic festival began. There were thousands of people, so Paul bought a new uniform, so he could wear it since he wouldn't leave the place clean.

There were people from other countries. The most surprising were the experienced wizards, who were level 70, a fight with them was a losing battle. Some of them were very strange, so Paul walked away from this place. Something strange was about to happen there.

As the black-haired boy walked through the school he saw the two players again. They came with their parents and some relatives, which made him nervous. Although engaging with Sabrina was just a strategy to help him, the game associated them with them and he knew it was dangerous. If they were targets of those strange people they would most likely go after him too.

So he hid, it was obvious that his friends' families already knew who he was, but it was not so easy to run away from there.

He tried to go to his classroom, but he ran into his teacher. That man was quite distracted by today's event, and had changed his manner of addressing him.

-Ah... young man, your fight is about to begin, please go to the coliseum. The hall must demonstrate the level of power you have.

Paul calmed down a little and listened to the man. He walked with him to the coliseum. He noticed that there were many people. Princes from other countries and nobles from all over the world. They were all seated in different places. As if there was an order that no one could avoid.

He saw that there was a fight between two upperclassmen of the school. He noticed that the magic they were both using was quite basic. They were using earth magic. They were making rods out of sand and objects of that element, so it wasn't very entertaining.

Although Paul had already learned all the elemental magic, he was no match for either of them because of his little experience in magical battles and the level of those people was higher than 20.

When the black-haired boy got careless. The battle that was going on in that place was over.

Paul knew it was his turn, so he simply decided to go down to the place where he was supposed to fight, but he saw several students nearby. Some of them were from different parts. So he ignored them and waited for his name to be called.

The corridors were built of stone and sand, so the dust rose quite easily. Also in the combat zone, earth element magic was used and it was spread a lot in that place.

-Paul Douglas-Somewhere they said.

At that moment the black-haired boy knew they were referring to him and started walking to the battle zone.

As he made his way there. He felt a little nervous, it was the first time he would be in front of so many people and show the magic he learned.

He noticed that in the stands were those strange men he saw a little while ago. He knew that something bad would happen, so he tried to concentrate. He just had to win the fight and that was it, maybe his reputation would rise a little after this.

He saw how from one of the entrances to the battlefield came out who would be his opponent. It was a girl from another city, her uniform was dark red, and she had brown hair and green eyes. When Paul saw her, he thought to avoid hurting her too much, since he didn't want to get in trouble with the people she represented.

She started to cast a simple fire spell, which Paul blocked with a basic spell. However, all of a sudden he felt a blockage of his magical energy, it was as if something was bothering him. He looked around again and noticed that there was a strange diamond on one side of the battlefield. He was surprised to see it, but he was not able to go and destroy it, since maybe it was the decoration of the place. He tried to continue concentrating on the fight, but when he got careless his opponent did some kind of earth magic. Suddenly around him there was a kind of dust curtain. It was too late to cast a barrier spell, so he instinctively moved away from it. He made two moves, but they were not enough. He suffered some wounds on his feet. He now owed minus 15 health.

However, his opponent had not the slightest mercy on him. He enveloped him in a second in a sandstorm. Until his health reached 8 and he had to throw his staff to the ground to surrender. He was about to die.

After that the battle was over and Marcos tried to go to take elixirs to recover his health.

[...]

Marcos was in the stands and saw how Paul lost. His cousin Sabrina was with him and she looked quite unfocused. She was only thinking of doing the mission to stop the chaos that was going to happen here. Despite his level, he wasn't too sure. He was seeing a lot of people everywhere and he didn't like it very much. The game gave no clues as to who was the person they were supposed to stop and avoid the chaos that was about to be unleashed in this place.

So he just kept watching the fighting. There

Marcos only hoped that Paul would be calm and would come to talk to them, since his family had some interest in him. Unfortunately they had created several events in the roles that the game gave them, which they had not planned.

The two cousins had the same mission, so they had the same stats and only differed in styles and gender. They were both professional gamers who decided to play Obelisk out of curiosity, but they didn't think they were going to get caught up in this game.

[...]

Out of nowhere an elf mage came down to the battle zone. Paul at that moment was trying to climb up to the stands, and they had not seen his two friends. Seeing the elf wizard he remembered that he had read that there were certain differences with humans. Both races were trying to get back to diplomatic relations with the humans, however a wizard in all black appeared from one moment to the next a diamond appeared from that place.

They all got up from their chairs when they noticed that, it seemed strange to see something like that in that place, but they noticed that several portals opened and several creatures came out of there.

Some wizards tried to eliminate them with magic, but to no avail. All were perhaps frightened away. The magic was gone and without it, they were a useless bunch. Paul's father and the royal guards, seeing that they could do nothing decided to go down and fight those creatures, but their weapons were totally useless. From one moment to the next they were trapped by those creatures. They tore off each one of their limbs, and unfortunately, in front of everyone, they ate them.

An atmosphere of horror began to live in the place. Terror gripped each of the people who were there. No one could believe it was happening. Everyone tried to run out of the coliseum and tried to save their lives. Paul was disoriented, he could not believe what he was seeing. The stranger that the game had assigned him as his father was devoured in front of hundreds of people and no one could do anything about it. He finally understood that the game was dangerous and the warning that this was dark fantasy was true.

Marcos appeared suddenly and grabbed him by the shoulder when he saw that he had stayed in that place.

-Hey... Paul... you can't stay here. We have to go, I know he was your father in this game, but look on the bright side, he accomplished his goal, maybe you will win something after this. Remember your only goal is to get out of the game.

Paul in the middle of his depression listened to him, and tried to get out of the crowd with his friend, but people were too scared, they were running without knowing where to go, they just wanted to save themselves.

[...]

Marcos tried to look for his cousin and his relatives to protect his life, as the mission was very dangerous, since most of them without magic were nobody. Suddenly he felt Paul stopped.

-Marcos what is your mission in this city?

-Eh... it was simply to win a battle and eliminate the threat of this place, but it's impossible.

-Is there no way to deactivate that diamond again?

-Yes, I have an iron mallet in my inventory, besides my strength is at 80, I worked a lot on that, I know I can't always rely on magic, but probably the trolls will kill us before we get to that place.

-We have to go do it, the people here won't survive this. Everything moves with magic here.

Marcos became serious and grabbed his head.

-All right, but if you die, you can't go back, so stay behind. I still have my full five lives.

-Don't worry-where to hide.

[...]

Both boys returned to the coliseum, but from the back. There were still trolls finishing with the parts of those people they killed.

Marcos approached the few that were there, so he went towards them without fear. Those creatures barely saw him and went towards him, but with a sledgehammer that appeared in a matter of seconds he killed them all.

-Ready Paul, I'm done with all of them, now I just have to destroy that. I forgot to tell you, maybe if we finish the game you can leave since we are linked to you, so feel happy, the way we are going the game will be over quickly. You can stay and learn in this city, while my cousin and I finish the missions.

When Paul heard that, he felt relieved, he no longer had to expose himself to die here. And he watched as Marcos tried to destroy the strange purple diamond with blows.

Little by little he saw how the magic wanted to return. Until Marcos destroyed it all, however he was very distracted and out of nowhere a beast came out and jumped on him. It did not give him time to defend himself and killed him.

Paul again had to witness a cruel and gruesome scene. From one moment to the next he felt the magic return and decided to eliminate the creature and burn it.

-Total flames.

The troll was completely burned and turned to bones and dust.

From one moment to the next he saw that Mark came back to life and no longer had any wounds. He did not hesitate to speak.

-This is unbelievable, the game is quite dark. Well I'll be more careful from now on. Paul we have to go, we have to warn everyone that the magic is back and find my cousin, she doesn't have the ability of strength like me.

-Ok let's go.

Paul looked around what was the battlefield and saw the sword of who was his father in the game, he could not help but feel sad to see the weapon of that person who was his father. He tried to take a deep breath and continue on his way to the exit. Since he could do nothing but cry there.

[...]

The city was in chaos, but many realized that the magic had returned, although they began to eliminate each of the monsters. There were people who had been brutally murdered. They were unrecognizable and seemed a terrifying sight for the city.

Many magic hats were on the ground.

Mark apparently knew the owner of one of them and was frightened.

-This hat belongs to one of my relatives.

The boy started to run and Paul followed him to help him. He understood that something had happened in that place.

There were some frightened people crying in the stone streets. The gothic buildings had blood all over them. Both subjects feared that the worst would happen.

And just as they imagined it did.

Sabrina and all of Marcos' relatives were dead. They had been killed in a brutal manner. A strange silence invaded both boys who believed that what they were experiencing was a lie.

Marcos knelt down and tried to see what he could do for his cousin. He saw that she had already lost her five lives, so he could do nothing for her. He just stood up and tried to calm down. He knew he could bring her back to life if he finished the game.

-Paul, now Sabrina is part of the game programming, she could appear as anyone. The bad thing is that she won't recognize us, so avoid her if you see her.

-Marcos, I'm sorry...

-It's not your fault, maybe we wouldn't even have arrived on time, they were too many monsters.

Marcos put on his cousin's hat and avoided looking at him. He didn't want to talk anymore and left.

Paul, he didn't know where he was going, but he couldn't do anything, even if he talked to him. That boy wouldn't listen to him. He was too affected by what had happened.

The night became colder and colder and sadder, some wizards were in charge of collecting the bodies of the people who had died.

Some people were in charge of rebuilding. The places that had been destroyed by the attack of the monsters, but nothing could remove the terrifying image that was seen in that place.

The game at once sent him a message.

Paul immediately looked at his game menu to see what this new mission was about, as he wanted to see what he would have to do. He noticed that his next objective was to infiltrate the nobles of the city. Which for him was a bit complicated. His reputation was very low and he did not want to talk to classist people who saw him as useless.

The only thing he had in his favor was the bond between the two players, but at that moment he could not think about that. His duty was to help the family he had in the game and give them the news. He only hoped that Marcos would recover soon and not be reckless.

He tried to walk through the streets where fear and desolation destroyed the tranquility he had seen in this place a few days ago. He passed by the places where the game did not allow him to go. He wanted to go there, but because of the hours and everything that happened. Paul preferred to walk without looking back
