CHAPTER SIX: TEMPTATIONS WITHOUT TOUCH
last update2026-10-20 05:55:02

When it seemed like things were getting back to place, chaos kicked in again... A peace of mind disrupting kind of chaos. It wasn't just any dream.... It was temptation without touch.

FLASHBACK CONT'D

It just felt too real. Too real to not make sense.... The room was dim, there was only a soft light that traced shadows across the walls of the room.... Everything was quiet except for breath, entangled breaths.... Low but heavy gasps.... Not his alone, hers, Natasha's.... Her presence was too close, her body pressed against his.... While her fingers gripped his hair as she rode him.... Her breath was uneven, her voice breaking into soft sounds, soft moans.... That's what the room was filled with.... Perez found himself grounded.... Too aroused to realize what was going on.... Natasha's head tilted back... Her eyes half-closed.... They were both completely lost in the moment

But then.... The air changed... Perez slowed the pace... His eyes lifted when the door opened.

Standing there was...

Amara.

Her eyes were locked on him.... Not shocked, just knowing.... Suddenly a sharp sound cut through everything.

Perez' eyes snapped open... His phone was ringing continuously. He sat up immediately, his breathing became heavy.... His body was still caught between dream and reality. He looked around and beside him... His room was empty.... His manhood was relaxed... But why did everything feel so real.

It was just a dream. He said to himself.... But his mind was restless.

Natasha.

Amara.

Two completely different energies, colliding in a way that made no sense.

The phone didn’t stop ringing. Perez stared at the screen for half a second

It was Lockwood.

Then it hit him, today, two weeks.... Already gone, just like that.... He sat up fully now....

“Shit the display..."

He ran a hand through his hair, already moving..... Yes, the prototype was done, tested and perfected... But not yet presented.

THE CITY

Massive digital billboards lit up across intersections, glowing with one name: LOCKWOOD ENTERPRISES, with sleek visuals and innovation wrapped in luxury. The traffic slowed around the building as black expensive cars lined up towards the entrance.... Victoria stood across the street, her eyes fixed on the display screen and the moving cars.... She had her notebook usually tucked beneath her arm.... But sometimes she wasn't writing she just had it in check.

Beside her, Ruby adjusted her camera lens, taking few shots of the incoming cars.... “Ahhh Vicky... look at this" Ruby muttered “This is where stories are made"

Victoria smiled “Or sold"

Ruby nudged her playfully.... “Please. This is your moment.... You're in final year, and here's a big event, with rich CEOs everywhere…” “Go meet one.... And fulfill that mysterious billionaire fantasy you’re always writing about"

Victoria laughed and shook her head “You think it works like that?”

“I just think you overthink everything” “Sometimes you just walk up and let life happen"

Victoria glanced back at the building “I don’t think I’m looking for fantasy"

Ruby smirked.

“Everyone is. They just call it different things" “Come on V!" Ruby said, grabbing her arm "Let’s move before security decides we’re suspicious"

They turned and walked off.

****************

Moments later, Perez arrived.... No pop up entrance, just stepped out of a cab.... Eyes already locked on the building ahead of him.... Inside Lockwood, Perez adjusted his sleeve... He always dressed casual corporate.... Not to corporate, not too casual.... Just effortless clean. He didn’t look out of place either and he knew it

“Perez"

He turned

Damn Amara..... The woman from his dreams. She paused when she saw him “You clean up well” she smiled brightly

“Thank you.... Uhm I need to see Lockwood" he said calmly.... He couldn't just cut her off

Amara nodded slowly, stepping aside, but her eyes followed him as he walked away.

********

The Upper Floor

Lockwood stood surrounded with expensive figures... Men in tailored suits, conversations that involved influence and money..... Perez approached without hesitation.

Lockwood noticed him “Ahhhh.... Perez" Suddenly the conversation around him paused “Right on time"

Perez gave a small nod “I’m ready"

Lockwood studied him for a moment “Come" He gestured towards a man standing nearby “This is Zachary Burchard"

Perez’s eyes met his.

A Sharp man of his early 40s.... Quite observant, not the type to be easily impressed

“Tech...." Lockwood added simply, Zachary extended his hand.... Perez took it calmly..... Even with everything happening around him, the lights, the voices, the weight of attention, Perez’s mind refused to settle

The dream.

It still lingered in his memory..... enough to disturb his focus no matter how hard he tried.... The way it had overlapped in his mind like something unresolved. He exhaled slowly, he just had to focus no matter how closely Amara kept looking at him when she entered the room....

And avoiding Amara? Was quite impossible.

  • CHAPTER SIXTEEN: DISTANCE IS THE BARRIER

The change was subtle, it wasn't obvious to the people inside Aurex.... But it was to Victoria, Perez no longer stopped by her desk, their conversations after meetings had become shorter, their casual exchange that had somehow become part of her routine vanished... He made it seem completely natural."Miss Carter, Mr. Perez would like you to review these documents"A messenger. Again. His office door was closed, she lowered her eyes and returned to her work.... • CHAPTER FIFTEEN: UNSCRIPTED

The days that followed became strangely familiar. Victoria would walk into Aurex and Perez would already be there. Well of course, but then she would turn a cand he'd be walking out of an elevator or she would be reviewing notes in the lounge, and he'd appear beside the coffee machine. It was almost ridiculous and yet neither of them ever mentioned it.They simply exchanged glances, a nod, a greeting, then continued with their day.... Professional and controlled, atleast that's what Perez was telling himself.... Because Victoria was becoming a distraction, a dangerous one. Because unlike Natasha and Amara, she wasn't demanding anything from him, neither was she chasing nor trying to pull him into a complicated situation. She was simply there.*******That evening, Perez walked out of his office with a file tucked beneath his arms, most of the building was empty as the cleaning staff started moving through the hallways..... The lights were switched off in most of the offices then he no

  • CHAPTER FOURTEEN: BETWEEN THE LINES

The article was finally finished or at least, Victoria had finally convinced herself to stop rewriting it, thanks to Ruby. It took three days, seven drafts and countless edits.... The article was officially published and there was no taking it back*********Response was immediate, employees started discussing about it, most praised it and the media team circulated it..... • CHAPTER THIRTEEN: THE QUIET EXPLORER

One afternoon, Victoria sat alone in a small café a few blocks away from Aurex' headquarters. Her laptop was open and her notebook laid beside it, several pages were scattered across the table; each filled with crossed-out words, written ideas, unfinished sentences. The article was slowly taking shape, she tapped her pen against the table then began typing again...."Success changes people or perhaps it simply reveals who they were all along"She stopped, no, deleted it.... "Behind every growing empire is a person learning how to carry the weight of becoming visible"She paused, better but still not on point.... She leaned back in her chair and sighed. Why was this so difficult? She had written dozens of articles before yet this one felt strangely personal. The TV screen lit up and caught her attention, it displayed the past clips on Perez' wonder works at Lockwood.... There was always someone standing beside him in most pictures, her name was boldly casted on the screen, Amara Vale.

Mr Perez""Time to put an end to this for good" Perez whispered to himself *********An hour later, he was sitting across from her in a quiet lounge. Natasha hadn't changed...
