Miles didn't hesitate. The cry came again, louder this time. "Help! Somebody, please!" His eyes narrowed. The voice was coming from behind the old storage building near the football field. Without a second thought, he sprinted. The students who had been watching him clean the field looked confused. "Where's he going?" "I think someone screamed." "Probably another fight." Miles rounded the corner of the storage building and immediately froze. Three students stood in a circle. Two boys and a girl. The girl was on the ground, clutching her wrist. One of the boys had his foot pressed against her backpack while the other held her phone. Miles recognized them instantly. The twins. They were also bullies and played a part in impacting fears into most of the studies in the school. Eric and Ethan Doyle. Second-year students. Both were notorious for stealing from weaker students. Miles needed the power. He knew that after the fight he had with Jack. The news of Kyle's power returning back to him had spread far and wide around the school ground. Still, Miles couldn't connect the dot between Jack Voss and his father. There was no way he knew about the science project Dennis Lawson was working on. Miles' brain had a quick flash back. Just one person had always stayed with him, assisted him and that was Maya. She was the only person who knew about what he was doing. Miles shut the system that was opened right in front of him. "System?" He called out loud but no reply came back. Ever since the system gave it rules and regulations, it seems it had gone quiet. No words, nothing. Miles fell to the bed with a great thud. He shut his eyes again trying to scan through Dennis memories. Maybe there was something he was missing. He kept digging and digging until he felt a liquid trickle down his nose. Miles walked back home immediately he left his mother's grave. He was not only angry with himself but a part of him felt his betrayed his mother. A part of her kept wondering if she was right to chose him as her boyfriend but then, she knew Miles was capable of protecting himself and her too.
