Scott kept his eyes on Alex’s name after Richard stopped speaking. The government contract was no longer like an ordinary business document to him.“Get me the company’s full profile, the contract value, and the product that may have been listed in the agreement,” Scott said. “I want to know who will receive those supplies and who will depend on them.”,he demanded frantically, pulling his hand back to himself.Richard nodded before he spoke. “The company is called MedAxis Distribution. It was registered six years ago, but its medical supply division only became active last year. Despite that short record, it won a contract covering several hospitals and public health centres.”Scott frowned. “A company with barely a year of experience gets a contract of this size?”Scott frowned, his face twisted in curiosity and disbelief.“That is one of the questions procurement officers have been asking privately. Two established suppliers submitted stronger proposals. One had been supplying for m

Scott leaned back in his seat as Spike explained the message he had received.“I saw a threatening message now, the sender warned me on behalf of his boss, demanding that I should delete the video and take it down immediately if I had posted it anywhere.” He whispered.“He also asked who I’m working for,” Spike added, his voice low and steady. “But something is here.” There was a brief pause at first, then he continued.“He offered me a job with him. He said he would pay me well and make sure I became the most protected man under his control if I'll work with him.”Scott turned towards him, amused. “And is that why you've been looking so worried?”“I'm not worried about the money, boss. It's the way he said it. He sounded as if refusing him could become a problem.”Scott laughed. “Is that why you're worried? Someone offers you protection, and you don't know what to do?” he asked.Without any other words, “Block him,” Scott commanded, returning his attention to his phone.“Surely I'll

“But I guess he knew. Judging by the way he spoke, I'm pretty sure he already knew something,” Scott whispered, staring through the windshield. “He didn't sound surprised to hear I was there. He sounded as though he'd been waiting for the right moment to strike.”Vivian folded her arms, still unsettled by what had happened inside the hall. “Then someone must have told him what was going on. But how did he know so quickly, and why did he turn on Lucy without even asking for her side?”Scott shook his head. “I don't know about that, I can't really tell,” he muttered. “I was also surprised by the sudden call”, he added.Suddenly without any slightest hesitation, Spike broke the silence after being quiet for a while.“Master, I did something while you were all inside,” Spike interrupted from the driver's seat. His voice was unusually low, his eyes fixed on the road, but he could see through the driver's mirror.Scott turned toward him. “You did something? Like what?” He asked hesitantly,

Lucy glanced at her mother before looking back at Scott. She could hardly believe he was standing before her, especially with a woman beside him, looking comfortable among the guests.Mrs. Rose grabbed her daughter's arm. “Say something, Lucy. Are you going to let him embarrass us after everything he has done?”Scott cleared his throat and smiled. “Wow, Lucy, is this your new job? You must be a rich woman by now, considering how hard you work serving drinks.”Lucy lowered her eyes toward the tray in her hands. “Scott, please. Not here,” she whispered, but her mother stepped forward.“What's wrong with honest work?” Mrs. Rose demanded. “You think you have the right to insult my daughter in my presence?” she asked violently.Scott raised an eyebrow. “I didn't say honest work was shameful. Your daughter and I both know why I'm surprised to find her here.” Scott muttered followed by a faint chuckle.Several guests turned around as Mrs. Rose's voice rose above the music. Conversations sto

“You don't have any right to threaten my business,” Scott snapped, his voice carrying across the hall. Senator Harrison stared at him while Misha watched from the stage, smiling as though the evening had gone exactly as planned.“Be careful how you address me, young man,” Harrison warned. Scott picked up his hat and turned toward Richard, refusing to give the senator another opportunity to provoke him.“If U&C has violated a regulation, send the evidence to our lawyers,” Scott replied. “But if you're using government approval to settle someone else's personal grudge, you'll have to explain that publicly.”Outside, Richard hurried after him. “That project is worth billions, Scott. What if Harrison actually blocks it?” he asked cautiously.“Then we'll challenge his decision through the proper channels,” Scott answered, climbing into the car. He ordered Spike as the trio consisting of Scott, Richard and Spike made their way out. After that, driving to Richard's stop point, he signaled Sp

*******************************************By seven that evening, expensive vehicles were arriving outside the Grand Imperial Hotel. Security officers stood near the entrance, checking invitations while attendants welcomed guests into the brightly decorated building.Scott stepped out of his vehicle wearing a dark suit and a black hat. Richard followed closely, examining the faces of the businessmen entering the hotel.Scott glanced toward the entrance. “Interesting. It seems everyone suddenly has something important to discuss tonight.”Inside the hall under the bright chandelier, several influential businessmen were exchanging greetings with senior government officials. Waiters moved between the tables, offering drinks while soft music played in the background. They moved toward the back of the hall, where Scott selected a table away from the main stage. He adjusted his hat slightly, allowing its brim to cover part of his face.Richard looked around nervously. “Something doesn't fe
