Chapter 14

After leaving Celestial Brand, Francis and Jacelyn returned home.

“Why is the house so quiet?” Francis asked.

Jacelyn smiled. “They must have gone out for their daily activities.”

“Don't you think we should have some time together? Just you and I where we talk and have fun?” Francis asked.

Jacelyn laughed, “I know where you are heading to but let's not talk about that now.”

She assumed he was after them getting intimate with one another but such thing didn't cross Francis' mind.

Jacelyn sat on the couch, staring at her ring in admiration.

“When will you stop admiring this ring?” Francis teased her. “You owe me a thank you for suggesting that we should get a wedding ring.”

“Thank you sir.” Jacelyn laughed. “It's so beautiful to behold, it's mine and I can admire it for as long as I want, don't be jealous.”

Francis giggled. “Jealous? I also have my wedding ring. For it to be so attractive and shiny, it should just be made of pure gold.”

“What is made of pure gold?” A voice rang out as someone walked in.

“It's nothing to worry about, Mom.” Francis uttered.

“Shut up, I am talking to my daughter.” Clara yelled.

“As he said, it's nothing to worry about.” Jacelyn seconded.

Jacelyn picked her back and was about to walk into her bedroom when Clara held her hand.

“Where did you get this from?” Clara pointed at the ring on Jacelyn's finger.

“It's mine, it's my wedding ring.” Jacelyn declared.

Clara was astonished. She knew about jewelry very well. The ring on Jacelyn's finger was fourteen karat gold.

“Where did you get it from?” Clara asked with widened eyes.

Jacelyn went on to narrate all that happened at the jewelry shop.

Clara was surprised and at point greed consumed her thoughts.

Clara released her hand. “Give me the ring. You can't wear a ring this expensive when you are married to a pauper. It will drive your prospective suitors away. Give it to me now. If I don't use it in the meantime, I will sell it and use the money for something better.”

“What?!” Francis exclaimed.

Clara ignored him and fixed her attention solely on Jacelyn.

Jacelyn, who had a soft heart and liked the validation from her family, slowly pulled the ring and gave it to Clara.

Angrily, Francis left for the kitchen.

An hour later when he was done with his chores, he informed Jacelyn that he wanted to take a stroll.

Francis left the house and placed a call to Henry, requesting him to come and pick him.

After a short time, Francis was seated in a car.

“Crimson Dragon, how long do you intend to keep your identity a secret?” Henry asked.

“Defends on how quick I get justice and avenge the death of my parents.”

“Alright.”

“To the Crimson Villa.”

Soon, Francis was alone in a room. He stood by the window side, glancing at a picture.

Francis had a darkened expression.

Three years ago, his father returned home with a young man who claimed to be an orphan and needed a place to stay.

The man was Sly Kimberley, a member of a wealthy family in Kentic City.

Sly was on a mission. He masterminded a mischief at Francis’ grandfather's company by forging Francis' signature. Francis was accused and found guilty, he was thrown out of the house and disowned.

Within that period, Sly poisoned his father and his mother which led to them dying the same day.

This shattered Francis’ grandfather as Francis' father was his only child.

Francis' grandfather became critically ill and remained in the hospital. He once overheard Sly’s conversation on a phone and there he knew who was behind it all.

He requested the doctor to announce his death since he couldn't fight alone.

After the announcement, the Rasiers, Laviers, and Kimberly took over their properties and businesses. They also carried the Gad's family heirloom, a silver coloured pendant.

“Father, your good heart landed us into destruction. That man called Sly Kimberly was a devil.” Francis slammed his hand against the wall.

It was usually said that with time broken hearts would heal. It depends on the depth of the heartbreak.

He blamed his father but he knew the enemies outsmarted them.

“Rasiers, Laviers, and Kimberly will die. I will ensure justice is served. I will destroy them. I recover in double folds all they took away from us.”

Francis sighed, placed the picture in a box and left the room.

“Field Marshal, Francis. I have news for you.” Henry was in the living room.

Seeing Francis' reddened eyes left Henry confused but he didn't need a soothsayer to tell him something was wrong.

“Speak,” Francis instructed.

“Sir, Pertanon Group, one of Kimberly's assets, has announced the wedding of their daughter which will be held tomorrow. Everyone has been invited. It will be held at Elite Event sir. Grandma Kimberly will also be celebrated as she turns eighty tomorrow.”

“This news came at the right time.” Francis uttered, a deadly glint visible in his eyes.

Pertanon Group was established by the Gad's family but now the Kimberly's had total control.

“Will we attend?”

Francis smiled. “Yes, prepare a nice suit for me. I want them to have a glimpse that the boy they conspired against is back and back for vengeance.”

When Francis returned home, he saw Raymond and Clara discussing.

“Hello, Mom.” Francis greeted.

Clara ignored him while Raymond mocked.

“Welcome, live-in-son-in-law.”

Francis clenched his fist.

“As I was saying before the interruption.” Clara cleared her throat. “At the wedding tomorrow, connect Jacelyn to Justin Kimberly. Their union will turn our lives around. You should understand better.”

“You have nothing to worry about. Without my connection, Jacelyn is so beautiful. Men will try to get her attention but I will ensure she agrees to the richest one.” Raymond smiled.

They both laughed while Francis excused himself.

Entering into the room, he met Jacelyn sleeping peacefully.

“Jace, you are so innocent and deserve all the good things in life. I will shield you from all the battles surrounding me. However, tomorrow is about to be a rollercoaster!” Francis whispered and fell asleep.
