Chapter 13

“Are you insane? Get out of my sight.” Jacelyn flared up.

Justin was speechless. He was used to ladies throwing themselves at him because he was from a rich family but to his shock today, he met a lady who didn’t regard him.

He swore to get Jacelyn by all means.

As Justin approached his car, Francis blocked his path.

“You have a death wish, right?”

“What?! Who the hell are you?” Justin said coldly.

“Well, you don’t have to know who I am but the next time you get my wife angry, I will ruin you and your household. Have a good day.” Francis uttered and returned to his initial position.

Justin gazed at Francis and laughed. He downgraded Francis from his appearance and concluded he was a nobody.

“If Jacelyn is truly your wife, you will watch her scream my name in ecstasy and there is nothing you can do about it.” Justin mumbled and zoomed off.

On the other hand, Silas left the door to his office open so as to quickly welcome Jacelyn.

Jacelyn went to Tehilla’s office and she was welcomed with a warm smile. Tehilla led her to Silas’ office.

“Good day Miss Gad. Please have your seat.” Silas greeted, bowing slightly.

Tehilla was left dumbfounded at this act.

The door to his office was wide open and some employees passing by also witnessed the scene.

Silas Anthony, the exceptional man whom everyone respected was bowing before a woman.

What connection did she have with Silas Anthony?

Jacelyn took her sit and went straight to business. After thirty minutes they were done with all the paper works and the transfer of the money.

Jacelyn was about to stand up when Silas said respectfully.

“Pardon me for not offering you juice or water.”

“It is fine,” Jacelyn replied with a smile.

Jacelyn couldn’t explain why he was treating her with so much respect. She ought to be the one doing it so as to get favor in his sight but the reverse was the case.

Jacelyn looked at him.

As though he had read her mind, Silas said. “Speak man. Do you have anything that you would like to share?”

“Who is the new boss?”

That was the last question he was expecting. Silence engulfed the air for some seconds.

Finally, Silas came up with something. “As you said, new boss. The employees of this company don’t know him either. The power just got transferred to him recently but we were told his surname is Gad.”

“Alright, sorry for bothering you.” Jacelyn said and left.

Silas wanted to see her off to the exit door of the company but changed his mind. He had to report himself to the new boss.

Quickly, he called Francis and told him that Jacelyn was curious to know about the identity of the new boss and he stated the response he gave.

Outside the Celestial Brand building.

Jacelyn was standing next to Francis.

“Silas was so respectful. I was not comfortable about it.”

“Come one Jace, he is only doing his work professionally. By the way, customers should be treated right.” Francis uttered.

“You would have understood better if you were present at the office.” Jacelyn muttered.

She added, “The new boss bears the name Gad.”

“Really? Could that be me?” Francis asked.

Jacelyn chuckled, “Wake up from your dreams?”

They got into the car and Francis looked at Jacelyn.

“I didn’t like the way that man treated you earlier. You made it clear that you were married but he didn’t stop expressing his intentions.” Francis said with an unreadable tone.

“Don’t bother about him.”

“Can we get a wedding ring? I may not be able to afford an expensive one but it will save you the explanation about your marital status.” Francis explained.

Jacelyn was quiet.

Francis continued, “I won’t force you. If you don’t want to, then we will just return home.”

Why wouldn’t she get married to him? He was her husband after all. He had always had her back. Since he wanted a wedding ring then they had to get it.

“Let’s go to a jewelry store but we will be buying the cheapest ring because this wasn’t in my budget for the month.”

Francis chuckled, “Okay.”

Thirty minutes later.

A young man and a lady were checking wedding rings.

Jacelyn was a bit shy because all the ones she liked were beyond her budget.

“Let’s go. We should check another store, we can’t afford anyone here.” She whispered to Francis.

Just then a middle-aged man walked into the store. Recognizing Francis, he smiled.

“New...”

Williams couldn’t complete his statement as he remembered that Francis' true identity was still a secret.

Williams approached the counter where Francis and Jacelyn stood.

Francis had plans of using from the money in his black card to sort the bill but that would make Jacelyn suspicious. So, he had to quickly send a message to Williams.

Francis winked at Williams, his expression saying thank you for intervening.

“Good day to the both of you.” Williams smiled.

“Good day, sir.” Jacelyn and Francis chorused.

“You must be couples.” Williams paused before adding. “You are here to purchase a ring, right?”

“Yes, but we can’t afford the varieties here. We’ll leave now.” Jacelyn said calmly.

“Not when I am here.” Williams said and looked at the sales girl who was across the counter. Bring the most expensive ring. I will pay the bills.”

“Alright sir,” the sales girl replied and went to get the ring.

Williams handed his card to her and the transaction was successful.

While Jacelyn was admiring the ring, Francis gave Williams a thumbs up in appreciation.

“How much is this?” Jacelyn asked.

Williams interjected hurriedly, “You don’t have to worry about that.”

Francis picked the ring and placed it on her finger. The other ring was in the box but Francis asked Jacelyn to keep it safe.

Holding hands, Jacelyn and Francis left the store.

“Why are people being unexplainably nice to me?” Jacelyn complained as they returned to the car.

“There is no crime in been nice to people. Don’t you like the ring?” Francis said.

“I love the ring. It must have cost a fortune.” Jacelyn was excited but soon she wore an indifferent expression.

“Aren’t you feeling awkward that another man bought us the ring?” She stared at her hand.

“Of course not, it is a gift. Gifts are to be appreciated and not rejected.”

Jacelyn glanced at Francis. She couldn’t explain why but she felt there was something about her husband that she was yet to know.
