Jaden/Selena POV
Vance’s finger tightened against the trigger of his heavy sidearm. "Five," he spat into the cold wind, his jaw clenching hard. "You don't command this island anymore, Jaden. Three years playing house in the city turned you soft." "Four," Jaden said. His eyes didn't leave Vance’s face. "Shoot him!" Vance barked to the line of contractors standing in the rain behind him. Silence answered him. Only the roar of the surf crashing against the black cliff faces echoed across the tarmac. Vance’s jaw jerked. He glanced sideways. "I said fire!" The red laser dots painting Jaden's dark coat flickered once, twice—and then swept down off his chest, sliding across the wet asphalt to lock onto Vance’s throat and forehead. The runway floodlights flashed from harsh yellow to a low, tactical blue. Every visor worn by Vance’s contractors beeped with a sharp, high-pitched warning tone. COMMAND OVERRIDE. SUPREME AUTHORIZATION DETECTED. Vance blinked, horror cracking through his composure. "What..." Before he could pull his trigger, Jaden closed the distance. One step, swift and silent through the dark downpour. Jaden’s left hand clamped around Vance’s wrist, twisting down and inward with brutal efficiency. A dull snap cut through the sound of the storm. Vance’s sidearm clattered to the wet gravel. Vance went to his knees with a choked scream, clutching his broken wrist against his tactical vest. Jaden didn't draw a weapon. He stood over his former general, his charcoal coat soaked with sea spray, his boots anchored into the mud. "Who paid you, Vance?" Jaden asked, his voice flat. "Kael doesn't have the liquid reserves to buy thirty first-tier contractors on his own." Vance looked up, rain and sweat streaming down his bloodless face. "He... he showed us the transfer logs..." Vance gasped, his breath ragged. "He said you were liquidating the Golden Island reserve to buy real estate for a civilian woman... he said you went mad..." Jaden pulled a heavy silver signet ring from his inner pocket—the War God seal—and held it in front of Vance’s eyes. "Does this look like I went mad?" Jaden asked softly. Vance stared at the crest carved into the metal. The realization hit him like a physical blow. Kael had fed the High Council a lie, claiming Jaden was gutting the Syndicate's wealth for his ex-wife, using her divorce to trigger a panic among the ranks. "He's in the Vault," Vance choked out, his shoulders slumping as Marcus stepped up, securing Vance's arms behind his back with a heavy zip-tie. "He brought two heavy squads from the Black Aegis mercenary group. They're breaching the inner blast doors right now." Jaden turned toward the central fortress—a massive, black concrete Citadel rising out of the island's volcanic rock peak. "Marcus," Jaden commanded, turning toward the lead armored SUV. "Take Vance’s men. Lock down the perimeter and the harbor. No air transport leaves this island." "Understood, War God." Jaden climbed into the driver's seat of the heavy vehicle, slammed the door, and jammed the accelerator to the floor. The tires spun, throwing gravel against the tarmac before catching traction, roaring up the winding mountain pass toward the Citadel gates. Ten minutes later, the heavy SUV smashed straight through the iron security barrier of the keep's lower courtyard. Alarm sirens blared through the high stone corridors, red emergency strobes flashing against the reinforced walls. Dead mercenary contractors littered the entryway—killed by the automated interior defense turrets Kael had tried to hack. Jaden stepped out of the vehicle holding a black tactical shotgun he had pulled from the rack between the front seats. He walked past the bodies without looking down, his boots leaving wet, dark footprints along the cold concrete floor. He reached the threshold of the Main Vault. The four-foot-thick titanium blast doors were burned open, their melted edges glowing dull orange from thermite charges. Inside the vault room, surrounded by rows of black server racks containing the Aureus global financial ledgers, stood Kael. Kael wore a tailored gray suit, identical in cut to Jaden’s. He held a silver hard-shell case connected by a fiber-optic cable directly into the vault's core mainframe. Beside Kael stood six heavy contractors carrying short-barreled assault rifles, their weapons swinging toward the shattered doorway the second Jaden appeared. "You always were too predictable, brother," Kael said, turning slowly with a sharp, arrogant smile. His eyes gleamed with a bright, unhinged energy. "Step away from the server, Kael," Jaden said, keeping his shotgun leveled directly at Kael's chest. "You're out of moves. Vance surrendered at the tarmac." Kael laughed, a short, dry sound that echoed off the steel vault walls. "Vance was a pawn to draw you back to the island, Jaden. Do you really think I cared about holding this rock?" Jaden’s jaw tightened. "What did you do?" Kael's smile broadened, turning cold and cruel. "While you were flying across the ocean, my team executed a secondary transaction using your dormant authorization key. Check your phone, brother." Jaden didn't lower his weapon, but his thumb slid across the screen of the satellite receiver strapped to his chest harness. An automated red alert flashed across the glass: 【ALERT: 100% Debt Acquisition Complete. Vance Family Logistics & Personal Assets Purchased under Aureus Sub-Holding. Current Restructure: Selena Vance assigned total personal liability of $140,000,000 USD. Arrest warrant issued for systemic fraud.】 Jaden stared at the screen. "I didn't just ruin Victor Vale," Kael whispered, leaning over the console with a dark, mocking grin. "I bought your ex-wife's entire life using your digital signature. Right now, the police are at her door to drag her to a maximum-security holding cell for financial crimes she thinks you committed. She will spend the rest of her life hating you, believing you ruined her to get revenge for her slap." Kael raised his left hand. In his palm sat a small black remote with a single glowing yellow button. "You wanted to play the quiet, protective husband?" Kael sneered. "Now live with what your name does to her." Kael slammed his thumb down on the button. CRACK. Heavy iron blast gates slammed down from the ceiling behind Jaden, sealing the exit with a deafening boom. At the same instant, the six mercenary contractors racked their weapons, locking their sights onto Jaden's chest.Latest Chapter
In the Favor of the War God
Selena/Victor POV The cold mahogany railing of Courtroom 4B was slick with the sweat of Selena’s palms. She stood in the narrow wooden dock, her legs trembling so violently that the links of the heavy iron leg restraints clattered against her ankles with every breath. Across the gallery, her father sat with his head in his hands, his knuckles raw and red, while her mother’s muffled sobs echoed off the tall marble walls. Judge Harold Vance didn't even look over his half-moon spectacles as he flipped through the thick, red-stamped federal indictment. "Case number 24-8891. The State versus Selena Vance," the judge read, his voice flat and mechanical. "Systemic bank fraud, execution of fraudulent corporate guarantees, and intentional default on federal credit reserves totaling one hundred and forty million dollars." Selena’s public defender—a tired-looking man with greasy hair and a wrinkled suit—didn't even raise his pen. "Your Honor, my client maintains she was misled by secondary
No Immunity for Fraudsters
Victor &Jaden POVThe fluorescent bulb overhead hummed with a low, irritating buzz, casting a harsh yellow glare across the scratches on the steel table. Victor Vale adjusted the cuffs of his wrinkled shirt, leaning back in his chair with a crooked, triumphant grin. He was already preparing his opening pitch. When the Senior Legal Director of Aureus Capital walked through that door, Victor would hand over every piece of Vance family collateral, drop Selena and her father directly into the crosshairs of the federal investigation, and walk out of the building with full state immunity. The heavy door handle turned. The hydraulic lock hissed open. Victor straightened his posture, forcing a warm, corporate smile onto his face. "Ah, director, thank you for making the time—" The smile froze on his lips. Jaden walked into the room. He didn't wear the faded discount polo or the worn-out sneakers he had dragged through Selena's house for three years. He wore a dark charcoal three-piece su
A Thief in a Borrowed Suit
Selena & Jaden POVThe smell of cheap coffee and stale disinfectant hung heavy in Interrogation Room A. Victor Vale leaned over the metal table, his collar unbuttoned, sweat soaking through his blue dress shirt. Across from him sat Federal Investigator Miller, calmly flipping through a stack of bank ledgers. "I didn't sign those transfer guarantees!" Victor yelled, his fingers slamming down on the formica tabletop. "Selena Vance brought those documents to my office! She told me her husband had corporate connections. I was an investor! I was misled!" Miller didn't look up. "Your thumbprint is on the digital signature pad, Mr. Vale." "She forced my hand! She and Jaden Stallion framed me!" Victor leaned in, his voice dropping into a frantic whisper. "Listen to me... I know how Aureus Capital operates. Give me a plea deal. I'll testify against Selena and her father. I'll hand over all the remaining Vance family land deeds to Aureus. Just clear my name from the default judgment." Mill
The Hundred and Forty Million Dollar Trap
Jaden & Selena POVThe heavy steel blast gate struck the floor with a dull thud that rattled the fillings in Jaden’s teeth. Cordite smoke from Kael's thermite charges hung thick in the air, reeking of sulfur and burnt iron. The six mercenaries didn't wait for a command. Their thumb safety catches clicked off in unison. Jaden didn't dive for cover. He leaned into the shotgun's heavy recoil before the lead contractor could pull his trigger. BOOM. The 12-gauge slug hit the lead man square in the chest plate, lifting his two-hundred-pound frame off his feet and throwing him back into the second contractor. Before the remaining four men could adjust their sights, Jaden closed the distance. He grabbed the barrel of an elevated rifle, twisted the frame downward, and drove his right knee hard into the man’s sternum. Ribs cracked under the impact. Jaden spun the contractor’s limp body around, using him as a shield as three burst-fire rounds tore into the tactical vest. Jaden fired the sh
