The gunshots and the warning from one of the black-masked men were enough to cause panic throughout the room. Leon was forced to stop his steps. He couldn't act recklessly while there were many people who could potentially be targets for the people who claimed to be robbers.

And apparently, there were not just three of them. Outside, there were at least two more people—also wearing black masks. Both of them were inside a black SUV.

“Everyone return to your respective tables! Don’t anyone try to leave!” said the black-masked man from earlier.

Out of fear, the people in the restaurant obeyed the man. Several women who had stood up and screamed hysterically went back to their seats.

So, what about Leon?

No. He remained standing while carrying the tote bag containing his packaged dishes. And this, of course, attracted the attention of the black-masked men.

“Hey, you! Get back to your table now!” the man yelled, pointing his gun as he walked toward Leon.

Leon didn't flinch. He glanced arou

Three days passed…It was still early morning, but the Greystone Hollow Police Station was already bustling. The police officers, who were usually still lounging around, tried to do whatever it took to make themselves look hardworking. It was indeed an unusual sight. And the reason was the arrival of two important people, whose positions and authority were even far above Joseph’s. They were Charlie and Barnes, the Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff of the Army.Joseph greeted the two of them with great respect. Despite this, he looked uncomfortable. That was because the reason these two important people came to Greystone Hollow was not him, but Kevin. They were now all four of them in Joseph's office. The atmosphere was tense. Joseph felt an incredibly strong pressure, something he rarely felt in his boring years in Greystone Hollow. But it was different for Kevin. Although he was the only one standing and his face was expressionless, he looked relaxed.“Let's get straight to

  • Something Big Is Coming

As a The Nocturn’s operative, Vior's shooting skill was certainly above average. Her three shots were precisely on target. The dark blue sedan that was trailing them immediately spun around and then rolled over.Dimitri sighed. He had asked Vior not to do anything until they were in an area safe from eyewitnesses. But that was Vior. As someone who had known her for a long time, Dimitri could only think about what they should do now.Dimitri slammed on the brakes. He and Vior got out of the car, stepping quickly toward the overturned car. Vior was still holding the pistol in her hand.“Do you think he's dead?” Vior asked in a joking tone.“I don’t think so,” Dimitri replied. “Look.”The door of the overturned dark blue sedan opened. The police intelligence officer crawled out. He seemed to have difficulty standing up.“Who do you think he is?” Vior asked again.“I don’t know. Maybe an undercover cop,” Dimitri replied. They were getting closer to the police intelligence officer. The man

  • Suspicious Attitude and Gestures

[All sorts of things. For example, he said that the two of you have a special relationship—more than just friends. He also said that you and Vior have dark backgrounds in your past, and that is what connects the two of you. Basically, what he said was all strange. I even thought maybe he was drunk. But that's not possible, is it? He's a police officer. He also looked fresh, and I didn't smell alcohol on his breath.]Leon listened to everything Evelyn said. His eyes narrowed. He turned the steering wheel to the right with one hand when he reached the intersection.“And after that? What happened after that? Did he say anything else?”[He told me to be careful of both of you. I think he was trying to incite me, Leon. In his eyes, you seem like a criminal. Could he still hold a grudge against you? If I remember correctly, he was the officer who came to The Vellington the other day. And he was also the officer who attended your trial six years ago.]Leon’s eyes widened again. He had suspec

  • We Will Meet Again

Leon turned back, smiling faintly.“Smart guess. But you’re wrong. I’m not a secret agent,” Leon said.Leon let go of Christy’s hand, being careful not to hurt the woman who was dressed like a lady.“If not a secret agent, then what? Undercover cop? Military intelligence? You must be someone like that, right?” Christy guessed.Leon turned his body slightly, raising one eyebrow.“I think those questions are more appropriate for you. You could be one of the professions you just mentioned,” Leon said.Christy looked at Leon seriously. The gesture she was showing now was very different from before the appearance of the failed robbers.“We will meet again,” she stated.Leon didn't say anything, just smiled thinly and turned to walk away, turning his back on her. He left, walking out of the seafood restaurant....Dimitri and Vior were on their way to Dimitri's military battalion headquarters. It was still about a fifteen-minute drive. Vior glanced at the rearview mirror, noticing someone t

  • Unexpected Guess

The man inside the dark blue sedan was a police intelligence officer assigned by Kevin to monitor Leon's movements. Like a typical intelligence officer, he looked like an ordinary civilian at first glance. People wouldn't suspect anything until they tried to peek at what was inside his car.And now he was explaining the change in situation he meant to Kevin. He explained in detail. While he was explaining, the car carrying Dimitri and Vior began to leave the parking area.“What are your orders, sir? Should I follow where those two are going?” the intelligence officer asked.Kevin said something. The intelligence officer nodded while continuing to observe Dimitri’s car. At one point, just as the car was about to reach the main road, it stopped for two seconds before speeding away.“Roger that,” the intelligence officer said, lowering the hand holding his phone. He placed the binoculars on the dashboard. He followed Kevin’s direction to tail Dimitri and Vior.Meanwhile, at the seafood r
