ALERION CITY. SCVEN AUCTION HOUSE [ONE WEEK LATER]

A blue BMW X7 stopped in front a huge mansion. The chauffeur rushed to the passenger door and opened it. A young man, handsome to a fault, in his late twenties, stepped out from the passenger seat. He was carrying a toddler in his arms.

“Mister Eden, Sir.” The chauffeur said respectfully while giving a low bow. The young man nodded in approval and walked into the mansion. He went straight to the receptionist counter.

“Good evening Sir, and welcome to the Scven Auction House. How may I help you?” The female receptionist said while flashing a smile that seemed more seductive than professional.

“I'm here for the auction, can you get me a room?” The young man said.

“That won't be a problem Sir. We have four categories in store. Low-tier rooms, which cost five thousand. We have mid-tier rooms which cost ten thousand. We have the high-tier rooms which cost twenty-five thousand.” She said.

“You said four.. what about the last one?” The young man asked.

“That would be the VIP rooms, Sir. It's usually reserved for the prominent figures and big families. It cost fifty thousand.” She replied.

“I’dime the VIP room.” The young man brought out his debit card. She took it and ran it through her computer. The transfer was a successful one and she beamed while gesturing to a young lady who seemed to be a hostess and told her to escort the young man to the paid room.

Taking an elevator, they stopped at the top floor, the hostess directed him to the room. It looked more like a suite than a room.

“Thank you.” The young man thanked her. She merely bow and left, closing the door gently behind her.

Glancing around the room, he found a bed, and there he gently laid the toddler. He saw a big screen on the wall, a chair and a mini-microphone beneath the screen.

Plopping down on the soft chair, he couldn't help but think back to all that had happened in the past one week.

BYERS CITY [A WEEK AGO]

After the party, Dean had gone home to the Hallfield family mansion, but it wasn't peace that awaited him.

THWACK!! A slap with crisp sound responded in the living room.

“How dare you!? Do you have any idea what you've done!?” Agnes hollered

“I saved my wife from being used as a pawn.” Dean replied in a firm voice. And this angered his in-laws further. The fact that he could talk back at them rather than pleading on his knees as before, was becoming infuriating.

“Oh my dear boy. I really do not know where you are getting your courage from, but I tell you this, you've bitten more than you can chew.” Johnathan said with flame of rage blazing in his eyes. This had been his shot at getting more recognition in the Hallfield general family. If he had managed to snatch that partnership contract, he might just, no, certainly will be able to gain the favor of his father.. but Dean had destroyed everything.

“Tomorrow, you're getting a divorce, then you are leaving the Hallfield for good. Back to the streets where you belong, like the dog you are!” Agnes shouted, her spittle almost touching Dean.

“Am sorry, but I can't divorce my wife, and I won't.” Dean refused to budge.

At this moment, Agnes was shaking feverishly with rage, her blood pressure was spiking, “GET OUT OF THIS HOUSE YOU UNGRATEFUL WRETCH!!”

“And take that child of yours with you.” Johnathan added.

Dean stood still for a moment, he couldn't find a response. And when he also saw that Loveth wasn't even saying anything to stop her parents, he simply turned around and went upstairs to pack without uttering a word. He could see that the family had unanimously agreed to push him out.. something his mother had once experienced.

Taking only what he could carry, and his daughter. Dean left the mansion without looking back. Boarding a bus at the station, Dean Weatherman was going to leave Byers City.

At the moment the bus left Byers City, he got a notification on his phone. Apparently Loveth has sent him a hundred thousand, along with a text message. He read, “This amount should suffice as compensation and payment for your troubles. I admire your courage, but it was foolish. Goodbye Dean Weatherman.”

Staring at the message, Dean felt betrayed, rage, used, and almost empty. Was this his fate? His mother was used and discarded by his father and the Mercedes family, and now he has suffered the same at the hands of his wife's family. At that moment, the system sent a notification.

«Ding!

Host has received $100,000.

100× reward activated.

Host has now received $10,000,000.»

“Ten million dollars.” Dean muttered. He smiled.. that's right, in his mother's case, she had no help.. but in his case, he has the Wealth System.

“Just you wait, you all will regret this. Every.. single.. one of you.”

Dean had arrived at the Alerion City which was even a level above Byers City in all aspect. He had gone straight to an Estate Agency and bought a villa for ten million. The system's 10× rebate had kicked in and he got a hundred million.

He couldn't believe the irony of it all. The Hallfield had pushed him away simply because they lost a contract worth just half the amount in his bank account. Oh how funny can the gods be.

The next few days, Dean had gotten himself a car; a BMW X7, and a chauffeur, as well as a Nanny to take care of his little daughter. He had also gone to the bank to upgrade his account to the highest tier as the system suggested. He had them inquired from the manager if he could help him get in touch with a reputable Agency where he could purchase a building for his business. The manager had told him about the auction instead.. which was the very reason Dean was now seated in a VIP room in Scven Auction House, to buy a building and begin anew. Dean had also changed his name.. Dean Weatherman is no more.. he was now Eden Wealth, with a current networth of more than a hundred million.

“Ladies and Gentlemen! The auction has begun!”

Dean's attention was brought back to the auction by the hostess’ voice.

“For the first item. An empty land, located at the Bensons. A hundred and fifty acres, 900 plots. Suitable for a great estate. Bidding starts at five million.

“Ten million!”

“Twelve million!”

“Thirteen million!”

The bidding war went on as items came and were sold, but Dean still hadn't found anything of interest, that was until..

“And the last but not least. The item you've all been waiting for. Located at the bustling Richmond's avenue. Sitting on a single acre of land, 6 plots. With all its facilities and amenities intact. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you.. Rosy Silk Restaurant and hotel, a five star establishment. You can either choose to retain the employees or recruit new ones. Bidding starts at twenty million.

“Twenty five million!” Dean spoke for the first time through his microphone.

“Thirty million!” Someone else said. The person had raised the bid by five million just as Dean had. But Dean wasn't about to give up.. why should he?

“Forty million!” Dean countered.

“Forty-five million!” The stranger raised the bid again.

Just as Dean was about to raise the bid, the opponent made a statement that chilled Dean.

“Friend in room 307. This is Clinton Mercedes of the Mercedes family, if you'll be so kind as to let go, I'll treat it as owing you a favor.”

Murmur rose amongst the other people who had also come to the auction. Dean paused. Who didn't know the Mercedes family? A top tier powerful family. He does, and for a different reason. Hate flashed across Dean's eyes for a second, but then he smiled before calmly holding his microphone.

“ONE.. HUNDRED.. MILLION..”

  • CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-NINE: Don't Sit Still

The call went out quietly, but the effect it carried was anything but small. The kind of silence that followed wasn’t the normal kind people got used to in a busy office. This one had weight. The kind that made even confident people feel like they were walking into something they couldn’t predict. Dean didn’t sit. He stood near the center of the room, hands relaxed at his sides, posture straight but not rigid. His face gave nothing away, but his eyes were sharp, steady, and waiting. Clarice stood slightly behind him, tablet in hand, her attention split between the incoming data and the door. Philip leaned against the wall, arms folded, watching like a man who had already decided how things might end but was still open to being proven wrong. Then the door opened. Slow. Controlled. And the person stepped in. No rush. No hesitation. Just a calm walk forward that would have looked normal to anyone who didn’t understand the tension in the room. But everyone here understood. Dean’s eyes loc

  • CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-EIGHT: Enemy That Knows Your Name

The room didn’t breathe. It held. Every word that had just been said stayed suspended in the air like something too heavy to drop. Dean didn’t move. Not immediately. His eyes stayed on the man in front of him, not searching for fear, not looking for guilt, but measuring something more difficult—consistency. Truth wasn’t always in what people said. Sometimes it was in how little they changed when pressure tightened around them. “…Deeper than we think,” Dean repeated quietly. The man nodded once. “Yes.” Philip shifted slightly, his tone low but edged. “Or you’re just trying to make this bigger than it is.” The man didn’t look at him this time. He kept his eyes on Dean. “…If I wanted to deflect, I’d keep it simple.” A pause. “…This isn’t simple.” Clarice’s fingers hovered over her tablet, but she didn’t type. She was watching. Listening. Because right now, the smallest reaction mattered. Dean took a slow step forward. Not aggressive. Not soft either. Just enough to close the distance. “…

  • CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-SEVEN: Manipulation

Chapter 147. The Hand Behind the CurtainThe calm didn’t last. It never did. Not when something was already in motion. The containment worked—at least on the surface. Conversations tightened. Doubt stopped spreading openly. The structure held. But Dean could feel it. Not with his eyes. Not with data. With instinct. The pressure hadn’t disappeared. It had shifted. That was worse. Because pressure that moved was pressure that adapted. Dean stood by the glass wall overlooking the main floor, his hands in his pockets, his expression unreadable. Below, everything looked normal again. People moving. Teams working. Orders flowing. But normal didn’t mean stable. “…You’re waiting,” Clarice said as she stepped beside him. Dean didn’t look at her. “Yes.” “…For what?” He paused. Just for a second. “…For them to get impatient.” Clarice frowned slightly. “You think they will?” Dean nodded once. “They have to.” A pause. “…What they’re doing now only works if we stay uncertain.” Philip joined them, h

  • CHAPTER 146. Going After Our People

The word stayed in the air long after Dean said it. Trust. Not numbers. Not assets. Not contracts. Something softer. Something harder to measure. And because of that, something far easier to break if you knew where to press. Clarice didn’t respond immediately. She just looked at him, her grip on the tablet tightening slightly. Philip’s expression darkened, his instincts already moving ahead of the explanation. “…You think they’ll go after our people?” he asked. Dean shook his head once. “Not directly.” A pause. “…That would be too obvious.” Clarice’s voice came slower. “…Then how?” Dean’s eyes sharpened slightly. “They don’t need to remove trust,” he said. “They just need to question it.” Silence followed. Because that… was worse. Doubt didn’t break things immediately. It spread. Quiet. Invisible. And by the time you noticed it, it was already everywhere. Philip let out a low breath. “So they plant something.” Dean nodded. “Exactly.” Clarice frowned. “Rumors?” “More than that,” Dean r

  • CHAPTER 145. From Who?

The shift happened faster than anyone expected. One moment, Eden Royalty Headquarters was tense but organized—controlled pressure, calculated movement—and the next, it felt like the ground beneath everything had started to slide. Not collapse. Not yet. But move. And in business, movement like that was often more dangerous than an outright fall. Dean stood at the center of it, watching the ripple effect of his decision take shape in real time. The Westline acquisition had become the focal point, just as he intended. Every department pivoted. Every resource leaned in that direction. But the moment that happened, the response came. Immediate. Sharp. Almost like whoever was watching had been waiting for that exact move. Clarice’s voice cut through the room again, tighter now, more urgent. “They’ve increased pressure on the supply chain again—this time it’s not delays, it’s cancellations.” Dean didn’t react outwardly, but his eyes shifted slightly. “From who?” “Different vendors,” she repl

  • CHAPTER 144. You Don't Need One

The silence that followed didn’t feel like a pause. It felt like a warning. Dean stood still in that endless space, his mind sharper now than it had ever been, but also heavier. Each step forward had stripped something away—certainty, instinctive confidence, the ease of quick decisions—and replaced it with something harder to carry. Awareness. He exhaled slowly, rolling his shoulders once as if to settle the weight. “…You’re not going to give me a break, are you?” he muttered. Jonathan’s voice came, steady as always. “…You don’t need one.” Dean gave a faint, dry chuckle. “That’s one way to say it.” A pause. Then—“…This one matters more.” That made Dean’s expression shift slightly. Not fear. Not hesitation. Just… attention. “They all mattered.” “…Not like this.” The space changed again. But this time, it didn’t build slowly. It snapped into place. Hard. Immediate. Real. Dean blinked once—and he was no longer alone. The noise hit first. Phones ringing. Voices overlapping. The low hum of
