The ride back home was the most bittersweet feeling in the world.

This was the woman that tried to fall her company for whatever reason. Yet, that woman had just saved her life.

Emily sat stiffly in the passenger seat of Katherine’s black sedan, her heart still racing, hands trembling slightly despite how tightly she folded them in her lap.

The night air whistled through the open window, carrying the lingering scent of burnt rubber and the runes of fear, sin and the lack of care of the night.

Katherine drove like she didn’t have a care in the world, one hand on the wheel, eyes sharp and focused on the road ahead.

Neither of them spoke until they pulled into Emily’s driveway.

Katherine killed the engine and turned to her. Her face, usually so guarded and unreadable, softened just a fraction.

“I just want you to know…I fucked up,” she grunted, like it physically hurt her to say those words. “I got caught up in something that wasn’t mine, and I let my greed control me. You don’t h

“You.” Viktor breathed out and Sylvester could pick the fear and surprise in his voice.Good. He is scared of me still.“How have you been?” Sylvester greeted him cheerfully. “You managed to escape me last time and I let you be, yet here you are still stirring up trouble?”“I’M not doing anything problematic. I don’t know who gve you that wrong information.” “Oh! So that’s how you want to play this, huh? You want to go down the innocent route with me except you are forgetting something.”Silence.“What’s that?” Viktor eventually asked, curious.Sylvester chuckled. “I’ve got your rat here with me… oh! Make that rats. The others weren’t fortunate enough to survive.”Viktor was silent.“Elijah, why don’t you come speak to the eagle? I’m betting you have never spoken with him before.”“What do you want? You have stopped the war from happening so I don’t see why you, the one known as Harbinger of Death should trouble yourself with the likes of me. I’m not anyone important after all.”Sylv

Every nerve in Sylvester's body was on high alert as he snuck out of the house through the back and circled around to ambush the intruders hiding in the hedge. He was elated, happy that he was going to be idle after all.He crept up to the first, the grass absorbing the sound of his bare feet. He could see the leather clad back of the man now.He went as close as he could and wrapped his thick muscular arm around the man's neck and covered his mouth with his other free hand. Before long, the man was unconscious and Sylvester laid his body down quietly on the grass. One down, three more to go.If he was using his powers he would have been done with them by now but he chose to rather do it manually. He moved to the next spot, jogging fast on his toes and his body crouched low. By the time his next target noticed him, it was already too late. He drove the side of his hand hard against the man's neck faster than the eyes could follow. It broke. Two more.He decided to change tactics. Some

“I need to step out to the office for a bit.” Emily announced to Sylvester, walking into their shared bedroom. He looked up from the tablet in his hand and took in her attire. A two piece business suit. The suit pant made her legs seem unendingly long. “Anything serious?” he enquired with an intense look. “Not really. I just got a notice from the board that I'm needed. Obviously, someone called for an emergency meeting.” she explained. Sylvester's gaze was filled with concern. Something didn't smell right. “Want me to tag along? You know you could always use a macho man by your side. Put some fear into them and keep them in their place.” he joked even though he meant every word. Emily chuckled, She checked her reflection in the full length floor mirror for the last time. “That won't be necessary. Besides, I doubt it's anything serious.” Sylvester felt let down but he hid it. “Okay.” Sensing he wasn't happy, she went to him and leaned forward to place a kiss on his foreh

Emily inhaled deeply, taking her time to breath in the air above ground while the others paused to wait for her. They were finally above ground now that the business Underground had been taken care off and Emily was glad she could breath in fresh air again and feel the sunlight against her skin once more. They all were. She breathed in deeply one last time with a smile on her face then opened her eyes to look at her husband. His aura was still radiating out from his body, more brighter and power than before but there was also one thing about it she could see that others couldn't. A thing black strip was intertwined with the pure white radiance he originally gave out before and she gave a small frown as she looked at it. Yes, she was happy Sylvester was getting his powers back and growing more still through cultivation but it bothered her still. Something about it all was corrupting him slowly. She recalled the image of him blowing up the prisoner with Jasper's house and the blood

He folded it carefully, slid it into his tactical suit secret pocket, and rose. Otto was already wiping his blade clean on a fallen blocker, his breathing steady, his eyes scanning for danger.“You got what you needed, sir?” Otto asked, his voice low but sharp.“Not sure yet,” Sylvester admitted, patting were he had placed the blueprint on his body. “But it feels… important. Too important to leave behind.”Without another word, they slipped back into the corridor. The carnage was still fresh—bodies sprawled at unnatural angles, blood trailing across the cracked tiles, gunpowder clinging to the air. Neither men looked back. When they stepped outside, it was already early evening. The horizon was smudged with the first hints of sunset. Emily and Katrina stood waiting, their blades stained, their black tactical suit slick with blood. Behind them, Team 2 stood at alert. Emily’s sharp eyes immediately locked onto Sylvester, recognizing the look on his face. “You found something.”Sylvest

“Have you heard from the men we sent out to Jasper's place?” Drake asked Viktor who shook his head. “That's weird. Those men are highly trained. Jasper shouldn't be a problem.” he said thoughtfully rubbing the tip of his dreads between his finger tips. “Sylvester too hasnt shown up for the duel. We can't give the order to the recon team to proceed as planned.” Viktor pointed out. “Hey you… contact the team. Tell them to hold. That anyone who moves without orders will lose his head.” Drake ordered and the person spoken to raced off. Few minutes he returned breathless. “Sir… I can't connect to them.” he said, gaspijg for breath. “What do you mean?” Viktor demanded. “It's either turned off or has bad connectivity.” the man explained. Drake's brow furrowed. “That's new… anyway keep trying.”The man hurried off. “Something doesn't feel right.” Viktor muttered to himself. He looked at the time. It was morning already. Maybe Sylvester got cold feet. ****“We hit at once. Each duo w
