Liam's POV

I realized as I listened to the stranger talk about my grandfather that maybe this man was on a personal mission of revenge rather than being sent by the Ndrangheta as part of some larger organizational strategy. This felt too personal and too focused on my specific family to be just another business operation.

I needed to satisfy my curiosity about whether he was acting alone or following orders from someone higher up in the organization.

"Are you doing this on your own or did the Ndrangheta send you?" I asked directly.

The stranger looked at me with amusement in his eyes and replied, "Curiosity kills the cat."

His non answer told me everything I needed to know and I realized that sitting here in my bed like a victim waiting to be told what to do was not going to help me survive this situation.
