Kael sat, not knowing what to do next. There was no way he would accept his fate.

He had to find a way to cultivate by all means.

Though cultivating with a damaged soul was not impossible as long as his sea of consciousness didn't crack.

And Kael knew that was impossible. So, if he really wanted to cultivate, he had to look for a way to repair the damaged soul. After repairing it, then finally he would embark on cultivation.

But where would he see a technique to repair a damaged soul? Soul techniques were already impossible to find, not to talk of a technique to repair the soul.

Even if he got it, he would probably be hunted down by those old monsters.

He knew just how sensitive matters of the soul were. After all, that was the reason his disciples had betrayed him.

Speaking about that....

“Young master! Something terrible has happened!” the maid’s anxious voice suddenly rang out as she rushed into the room, panting heavily.

Kael raised his brows, staring at the panting maid. The original owner of this body had quite a close relationship with the maid and seemed to trust her a lot.

Well, that didn't seem to matter to him; he still had his guard up. After all, the same set of people he had trusted in his past life were the same people who had ended him.

"What's wrong?" Kael asked, his voice calm, sweeping his gaze over the maid.

"Young master, your fiancée has come to break off the engagement," the maid answered. The urgency in her tone was evident, as if it was a world-ending issue.

"Fiancée?" Kael muttered slightly, his brows narrowing into a thin line as memories resurfaced.

The original owner had a fiancée betrothed to him. Just like him, she was the daughter of the clan head.

At first, they were close and people would call them heaven-chosen. But as the gaps in cultivation got wider, so did the distance between them.

Until they were nothing but strangers. Now, people would even mock him, saying he was a toad lusting after swan meat.

As for why the maid was panicking, the two clans had formed an alliance because of the marriage between them, and with the help of the clan, they were still able to secure a foothold in the city.

Else, they would have been long swallowed by other clans who had their eyes on their mines and other properties.

"Young master..." The maid called again, interrupting Kael's thoughts, pulling him back to reality.

"Lead the way," he commanded, standing up from the bed.

"Yes, Young Master," the maid nodded and walked out of the room, waiting for Kael to emerge.

Minutes later, Kael walked out of the room, donned in a white robe, his gaze calm.

"Let's go," Kael said, walking forward while the maid followed behind.

"Greetings, Young Master," the other members of the clan greeted, bowing slightly to Kael as he walked past them.

But Kael didn't bother to pay them any attention. He didn't care about these formalities, and besides, before they saw him approaching, he could hear their discussion of how it was for the best that his marriage contract would be broken off.

After all, it wouldn't do his fiancée any good by becoming his Dao partner. He was only going to limit her.

Soon, Kael arrived at the entrance of a hall. The hall looked rather magnificent, but if Kael were to compare it to what he had seen, then it was barely possible.

Two huge lion statues stood by both sides of the wall, their eyes looking fierce, sending a wave of intimidation into anyone who looked directly at them.

Kael took a glance and shook his head; though he was a bit impressed, it was still not enough.

Without waiting any longer, he stepped into the hall.

The moment he stepped into the hall, different gazes fell onto him.

Kael smiled and raised his head, meeting the gaze confidently, his expression calm.

At the far end was his father sitting on the clan head's seat; by his left was the First Elder, Second and Fourth Elders.

On his right was the Third Elder, Fifth and Seventh Elders. Then, quite at the far end was the Sixth Elder, an old man with white hair whose gaze seemed not to care about anything.

Right after this group of Elders, about three other unfamiliar figures sat, their eyes on Kael.

One of the figures was his said fiancée. The other was a female whom he had never seen. She was donned in a white robe, with red fiery patterns all around.

Her gaze was cold, and it was as though she looked down on every single person in the hall.

The last person was his fiancée's father, who sat with a smile at the corner of his lips.

"Father," Kael greeted, bowing slightly to his father before taking the last empty seat just by his father.

"What are you doing here?" The First Elder frowned, slightly displeased by Kael's appearance.

"This matter has to do with him, so it's just fine if he's present," the Third Elder answered, defending Kael.

"But...."

"That's enough," Keith spoke, stopping the two elders, then glanced at his son who sat calmly without uttering a single word.

His son must have had it hard. He had just been beaten up, his Dantian destroyed with no hope, and was now useless forever. Now his fiancée was here to break off the engagement.

How could the poor boy handle that? He couldn't help but feel deeply sorry for him.

Sighing, he took a deep breath and looked at the other party, then spoke slowly...

"What brings you here at this hour?"

"Clan Head, forgive my unannounced visit," Kael's fiancée, Nora, stood up, bowing slightly to Keith.

Her long hair packed in a ponytail followed in her movement, while her almost perfectly sculpted face held a calm expression, a faint smile at the corner of her mouth.

Kael glanced at her and couldn't help but admit she was such a beauty. He couldn't help but imagine how his father had managed to snag such a daughter-in-law for his son.

"I came for an urgent matter in which I hope the Clan Head would be willing to grant my request," Nora continued, rising up, her gaze falling onto Kael who was still calm.

"State your request," Keith stated, his voice low, carrying a bit of uncertainty.

"Sorry for my impudence, Clan Head, but I'm here to request the annulment of the marriage agreement between Kael and me," Nora said, her voice void of emotions.

Keith's expression changed. It was just how he had thought; she was really here to break off the engagement.

"I know this is too much and too sudden, but I humbly request the Clan Head to grant my request," Nora continued, bowing again.

"In compensation for my acts, I'll be offering Kael a low-grade spirit pill. I hope the Clan Head can consider my request."

The elders' expression changed hearing Nora's words. A low-grade spirit pill?

How did she manage to get her hands on something so precious? Who could have given her such a high-level pill?

What's more, she wanted to give the pill to Kael as compensation for breaking up the contract?

Getting an alchemist who could refine even a high-grade mortal pill would be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Yet, she was offering up a low-grade spirit pill, which was already two levels higher than a high-grade mortal pill.

Keith sighed, not knowing what to say. He heard the news that Nora had been taken in as a disciple of a second-rate sect.

Seemed like that was where she got the pill. As for the other lady sitting, she was definitely her master, so even if they wanted to refuse, there was no way they could.

"I can't make this decision," Keith spoke slowly, shaking his head.

"After all, my son is here, so it'll be better to ask if he agrees with the termination of the marriage contract," he added, his gaze landing on Kael.

"What do you say, Kael?"

Instantly, all gazes landed on Kael. Nora also glanced at Kael, her gaze cold, awaiting his answer.

Kael, on the other hand, smiled bitterly, staring at this group. If he had known it would come to this, he wouldn't have come, but since matters had come to this, there was no need to turn back.

The original owner had suffered a lot, especially in the hands of his fiancée. Besides, he was not going to allow himself to suffer any kinds of injustice, so he stood up slowly and shook his head, a smile forming on his face.

"I disagree!"

His voice wasn’t loud.

But it echoed clearly through the hall, ringing in the ears of everyone present.

For a moment, everyone froze. Even Nora’s calm expression flickered, her brow narrowing slightly.

“This…” the First Elder’s voice turned cold, disdain in his voice,

“Kael, don’t be unreasonable. This is already a generous compensation...”

Before he could finish,

Kael raised his hand slightly, cutting him off.

“First Elder,” he said calmly,

“you misunderstand.”

He turned his gaze back to Nora, a faint smile formed on his lips.

“I’m not refusing because I want to keep this engagement.” He continued, then paused slightly, observing everyone in the hall.

“I’m refusing because…” Kael's voice trailed off, his voice becoming colder with each sentence.

“I’m the one ending it.”

"Finally making a move, huh?" Shawn's mouth curled up into a smirk; the faint hint of disgust hidden within couldn't be missed. "But you're nowhere worthy enough to stop me," he scoffed and pulled his wrist, trying to break free of Kael's grip. But the next second, he froze, his face darkening as he tugged harder. No matter how much he tried, he couldn't break free; it was as though an iron bar was clamped onto his hands. Not only that, he felt slightly numb, as if something was suppressing the force within his arms, unable to break free of Kael's grip. Instantly, Shawn glanced at Kael, his face crumpled up like a piece of rough paper, and he pulled harder, exerting even more force. "Stop struggling; it's futile," Kael spoke, his voice as calm as the sea. "If..." "Impossible!" Shawn roared and instantly exerted more strength, his Qi rushing up to his arms. "Seems like I'll have to teach you a lesson," Kael muttered, a glint flashing in his eyes as he increased his grip on Sha

He had full confidence in what he had brought, hence his relaxed state. The shopkeeper picked up one of the jars again. This time, he was more careful. He tilted the jar slightly and poured a portion of the liquid onto his arm.
