The peaceful days did not last. Ethan should have known better. He had been around long enough to understand that happiness was fragile. That peace was temporary. That the darkness was always waiting.

He was sitting in his study when the system reactivated. The blue screen flickered in front of his eyes. He had not seen it in months. He had started to believe it was gone for good. But here it was. Back again. And the message on the screen made his blood run cold.

New threat detected. The true mastermind has surfaced. Your mother's killer is still alive. And they are coming for you.

Ethan stared at the screen. His hands were shaking. He had thought it was over. He had thought Helen was the end of it. But the system was telling him something else. Something worse.

"What do you mean my mother's killer is still alive?" Ethan said. His voice was barely a whisper. "Helen confessed. She admitted everything. The system recorded it. The court heard it. She is in prison."

The system responded. Helen Wu was a pawn. She carried out the orders. But she did not give them. Someone else orchestrated everything. Someone higher. Someone more dangerous. Someone who is still out there.

Ethan felt his world tilt. He had spent months believing he had won. He had spent months rebuilding his life. He had spent months thinking his mother's murder had been avenged. But it was all a lie.

"Who?" Ethan demanded. "Who is it? Tell me."

The system paused. Then it displayed a name. A name Ethan had not heard in years. A name he had almost forgotten.

Victor Chen. Your uncle. Your mother's brother. He is the one who orchestrated everything. He is the one who hired Helen. He is the one who killed your mother.

Ethan felt the air leave his lungs. Victor Chen. His uncle. The man who had been like a father to him. The man who had disappeared years ago. The man everyone assumed was dead.

"No," Ethan said. "That cannot be right. Victor loved my mother. He would never hurt her. He would never do something like this."

The system responded. Victor Chen was jealous of your mother. She inherited the family fortune. He got nothing. He resented her success. He resented her power. He wanted everything she had. So he made a deal with the Wu family. He would help them destroy her. In exchange, they would give him a share of the empire.

Ethan shook his head. He did not want to believe it. But the system had never been wrong. The system had never lied to him.

"Why now?" Ethan asked. "Why is he surfacing now?"

The system responded. Victor has been in hiding for years. He has been waiting. Waiting for Helen to fall. Waiting for the chaos to settle. Now that the Wu family is gone, he sees an opportunity. He plans to take control of everything. The Wu empire. The Chen legacy. Everything. And he knows you are the only one who can stop him.

Ethan stood up. His heart was pounding. His mind was racing. He had thought the fight was over. He had thought he could finally rest. But he was wrong. The fight was just beginning.

"Where is he?" Ethan asked. "Where is Victor?"

The system displayed a location. A remote island off the coast. Private. Secure. Victor had been hiding there for years. He was surrounded by security. Armed guards. Surveillance systems. Everything he needed to protect himself.

Ethan looked at the location. He knew he had to go. He had to confront Victor. He had to get the truth. He had to finally put an end to everything.

But he could not leave Lily. Not again. Not after everything they had been through.

Sarah appeared in the doorway. Her face was pale. She had seen the system screen. She had read the message.

"Ethan," Sarah said. "What is going on? Who is Victor Chen?"

Ethan turned to her. His face was grim. "He is my uncle. My mother's brother. He is the one who killed her. He orchestrated everything. Helen was just his pawn."

Sarah's eyes went wide. "That cannot be right. Why would he do that? She was his sister."

"Because he was jealous," Ethan said. "Because he wanted what she had. Because he was greedy and selfish and evil."

Sarah walked closer. She put her hand on his arm. "What are you going to do?"

Ethan looked at her. He thought about Lily. He thought about the life he had been trying to build. He thought about the peace he had finally found.

"I have to go," Ethan said. "I have to confront him. I have to finish this."

Sarah shook her head. "You cannot go alone. It is too dangerous. He has security. He has weapons. He will kill you the moment you step foot on that island."

Ethan looked at her. He saw the fear in her eyes. The worry. The concern. But he also saw something else. Determination.

"Then come with me," Ethan said. "You and me. Together. We can do this."

Sarah stared at him. She was silent for a long moment. Then she nodded. "Okay. I will come. But we need a plan. We need to be smart about this."

Ethan smiled. A grim smile. "I have a system. That is all the plan I need."

Sarah looked at him. She shook her head. "You are impossible. You know that?"

Ethan laughed. A real laugh. For the first time in a long time. "I know. That is why you like me."

Sarah rolled her eyes. "I do not like you. I tolerate you. There is a difference."

Ethan shook his head. "Sure. Whatever you say."

They spent the next few hours planning. The system provided detailed information about the island. The security. The guards. The layout. Everything they needed to know.

Ethan kissed Lily goodbye. She was sleeping peacefully in her room. He did not wake her. He could not bear to see the look on her face when he told her he was leaving.

"Take care of her," Ethan said to Sophia. "Protect her. No matter what happens."

Sophia nodded. Her eyes were filled with tears. "I will. I swear. I will protect her with my life."

Ethan looked at her. He wanted to say something. Something meaningful. Something that would make things right. But the words would not come.

"Thank you," he said. "For everything."

Sophia nodded. "Be careful, Ethan. Come back to us. Come back to Lily."

Ethan turned away. He walked out of the house. Sarah was waiting for him. She was holding a bag. Full of supplies. Weapons. Everything they needed.

"Ready?" Sarah asked.

Ethan looked at her. "No. But I am going anyway."

Sarah smiled. A small smile. "That is good enough for me."

They got into the car. Ethan started the engine. He looked at the house one last time. Then he drove away.

The system appeared. A new message. Victor Chen has been alerted to your presence. He knows you are coming. He is preparing. The island is on high alert. This will not be easy.

Ethan looked at the message. He smiled. A cold smile. "I did not expect it to be."

He stepped on the gas. The car sped into the night. The hunt was on.

  • THE CONFRONTATION

The park was quiet at this hour. The children had gone home. The parents had packed up their picnics. The only sounds were the birds in the trees and the distant hum of traffic. Ethan stood at the edge of the playground, watching Sophia sit alone on a bench. She was staring at the empty swings. Her hands were clasped in her lap. She looked smaller than he remembered. Broken. Hollow.Ethan walked toward her. His steps were slow. Deliberate. He had not seen her like this since the early days of their marriage. Back when they were young and in love. Back before the Wus had poisoned everything.Sophia looked up as he approached. Her eyes widened. She did not recognize him at first. He was still wearing the Daniel Young disguise. The suit. She jumped to her feet. Her hands flew to her mouth. "Ethan? Oh my God. Eth

The safe house was quiet. Ethan stood by the window, watching the street below. Sarah was in the back room, working on her research. Lily was sleeping peacefully, her small chest rising and falling with each breath. The nurse was in the corner, reading a book. Everything seemed calm. But Ethan knew better. The calm was an illusion. The storm was coming."Sarah," Ethan said. "How much longer until the antidote is ready?"Sarah looked up from her notes. Her face was tired. Her eyes were bloodshot. She had been working nonstop since they arrived. "A few more days. Maybe a week. I need more supplies. The Wu family destroyed most of my equipment. I am working with what I have."Ethan nodded. "I will get you whatever you need. Just tell me."Sarah sighed. "What I need is the original medical records. The ones the Wus have hidden in their vault. Without those, I cannot confirm the exact formula of the poison. I can make a general antidote, but it might not be strong enough. Lily might not su
