"Huaaah... hah... hah..."

Cu Ye jolted awake. His breathing was ragged, as though the devastating explosion was still shaking every fiber of his body. As his vision gradually cleared, his shock only deepened.

He was no longer inside the alchemy chamber. Instead, he found himself lying on an old wooden bed in a dim, modest room. Instinctively, Cu Ye examined his body. His brows immediately furrowed. His adult body had vanished, replaced by the frail, wounded body of a teenage boy.

"What exactly happened? Didn't I die?" Cu Ye murmured in confusion, staring at his youthful body with trembling eyes.

Nngiiing!

An excruciating pain suddenly struck his head. Cu Ye grimaced as he endured it. At that very moment, unfamiliar memories surged into his mind. Countless fragments collided, overlapped, and gradually merged into one.

Bang! Bang!

Gong Cu, the Young Master of the Gong Family, together with his two companions, took turns beating Li Ye, treating him like a ball being kicked back and forth.

"Hahaha! Take this!" Gong Cu laughed smugly. "You're just a bastard, yet you dare try to enter the Sky Sword Sect?"

Cu Ye let out a low groan. More and more fragments of memories flooded in. Names, faces, and voices all blended together.

Little by little, everything became clear. Five hundred years after his death, Cu Ye had been reborn as Li Ye, one of the descendants of the Li Family.

"Qi Mo... Zi Quan..."

Li Ye's gaze turned icy. He clenched his teeth. It wasn't only Li Ye's memories that had returned. All of Cu Ye's memories had awakened as well. The betrayal, the Eternal Life Pill, and the explosion—everything was crystal clear.

Li Ye clenched his fists tightly, suppressing the rage surging within him, before the pain coursing through his entire body forced his mind back to reality.

"This isn't the time to dwell on the past. This body's condition is far too terrible," the young man thought, forcing himself to remain calm.

He immediately sat upright, regulated his breathing, and tried to circulate qi throughout his body. However, after a few moments, the flow suddenly became blocked.

"Kugh!"

Fresh blood filled his mouth.

Li Ye immediately pressed several meridian points on his chest and shoulders. His movements were swift and precise.

His expression grew increasingly grim.

"The main meridians are damaged."

His fingers moved to his lower abdomen.

"The dantian is cracked as well."

He took a slow breath before feeling along the left side of his chest.

"Even the ribs have shifted."

Li Ye clenched his fists.

"If I leave it like this, I'll die a miserable death," he muttered grimly, realizing just how severe his injuries were.

"Without my memories as an alchemy master, I'd probably end up living the rest of my life as a cripple," Li Ye snapped in frustration.

His gaze shifted toward the small table beside the bed.

"They didn't even leave me a single medicinal remedy?" Li Ye muttered in disbelief.

He touched his stomach, which growled with hunger. There was nothing at all in the room, even though he had been lying on the bed on the verge of death.

Before he could think any further, a commotion suddenly erupted outside his room.

"Let me see Li Ye!"

The shout of a young woman outside drew Li Ye's attention away.

"Miss Bai! You're not married yet. It's improper for you to enter Young Master's room!"

"I only want to make sure he's alright! If you hadn't driven away the physician I sent, why would I be making such a scene?" the young woman argued anxiously.

Li Ye narrowed his eyes.

"That voice..."

A memory immediately surfaced.

"Bai Lian?"

Despite his weakened condition, Li Ye walked toward the door to see what was happening outside.

The moment he opened it, a young woman dressed in sky-blue robes with a thin white veil froze in place.

"Li... Li Ye?" she whispered, her lips trembling.

"Hm?"

The young man turned toward her. Tears welled up in her eyes as she shoved Aning aside and ran straight toward Li Ye, throwing her arms tightly around him.

Li Ye was startled by the sudden embrace. He wanted to pull away, but stopped when he heard her quiet sobs.

"Thank goodness... thank goodness you've finally awakened. I was so afraid I'd never see you again," the young woman sobbed.

Li Ye fell silent.

He had just been betrayed by the people he trusted the most. Yet in this life, he also had a fiancée who appeared so sincerely devoted to him. A strange feeling welled up inside his heart.

Seeing this, Aning let out a cold snort before immediately pulling the veiled young woman away.

"Miss Bai Lian, you truly have no shame. As an unmarried young lady, you dare barge into the Li Residence and behave however you please," Aning sneered, making Bai Lian flustered.

"I-It's... I... that's not what I meant," Bai Lian replied nervously.

The maid smiled slyly and folded her arms across her chest. Her mind was already occupied with thoughts of extorting money from Bai Lian.

"You've seen it for yourself. Young Master is perfectly fine. But what if word of this gets out?" Aning threatened.

"Enough," Li Ye interrupted coldly, having already guessed where Aning was heading. "Bai Lian is my guest. Your job here is done. Leave."

Aning stared at him in shock. Li Ye had always been obedient and silent. Since when had he dared interrupt her?

"B-But, Young Master..."

"Oh?" Li Ye looked at the maid with an icy, piercing gaze. "Do I need to repeat myself?"

The maid fell silent. Since entering the Li Residence, this was the first time she had ever felt intimidated by Li Ye.

"The Family Head won't be pleased when he hears about this!" Aning threatened as she glared at the two of them before snorting in annoyance and storming away.

Li Ye narrowed his eyes as he watched the maid leave before turning back to Bai Lian, who was still standing there.

"They always treat you like this." Li Ye frowned, unable to understand. "Why do you still come here?"

"It doesn't matter," Bai Lian replied, unconcerned by how the Li Family treated her. She gazed at Li Ye with tearful eyes before slowly raising her hand to carefully examine the injuries on his body. "How are you? How could they let you end up like this?"

Li Ye was slightly startled when he saw the tears shimmering in her eyes as she looked at him with genuine concern. He immediately brushed her hand away.

"Why are you crying?" Li Ye muttered, turning his face aside, unsure how to deal with the traces of tears in the eyes of the veiled young woman.

Bai Lian bit her lip for a moment before forcing a smile beneath her veil. She then held up the woven bamboo basket she had brought for Li Ye from the very beginning.

"I brought you something, just in case," she said as she opened the lid. "Quick, eat..."

Li Ye looked at what was inside the basket, his eyes slowly narrowing.

"Where did you get this?"
