The crimson emergency banner blazed across the phone screen, casting a harsh, bloody glow over Ethan's sharp facial features.

CRITICAL ANOMALY: Global thermal collapse accelerated. Atmospheric freezing front detected moving south at eight hundred miles per hour.

Ninety days had just shrunk to zero.

The early arrival of the deep freeze meant the global supply chains would not merely strain—they would shatter completely before midnight. If he didn't secure the industrial generators, the military medical depot, and the five thousand tons of grain right now, billions of desperate survivors and panicked corporations would weaponize whatever military force remained to lock down every last warehouse in the country.

"Mr. Vance!" The lead broker's voice snapped with sudden, frantic urgency as he burst back into the living room, holding a flashing tablet. "Sir, you need to see this. Every major shipping port from the northern seaboard to the interior has just locked its gates. The central bank payment network is experiencing massive latency spikes. Financial institutions are freezing all high-value wire transfers nationwide!"

Ethan didn't blink. He slammed his briefcase shut, the certified cashiers' checks secure inside.

"They aren't just freezing wires," Ethan said, his voice hard as iron. "They're locking down the inventory because the military just invoked emergency asset control. If we don't clear that warehouse within the hour, our cash is going to become worthless paper."

Without waiting for a reply, Ethan strode toward the foyer, pulling his heavy tactical jacket over his shoulders. "Where is the primary depot holding the V12 Cummins generators and the military medical supplies?"

"Sector Seven industrial district," the broker stammered, scrambling to keep up with Ethan's rapid pace. "Warehouse B-12. But sir, the logistics hub is already swarmed. Desperate buyers and corporate fixers are offering triple cash on-site just to break the locks!"

"Let them try," Ethan muttered coldly.

Ten minutes later, a heavy-duty armored transport truck roared out of the estate gates, followed closely by two flatbed semi-trailers. Ethan sat in the passenger seat of the lead vehicle, his eyes fixed on the darkening afternoon sky. The bright autumn sun had already vanished behind an unnatural, bruised-purple wall of rolling clouds, and the temperature outside was plummeting so fast that frost was instantly crystallizing across the windshield glass.

In the span of a single hour, the world had crossed the threshold from late autumn straight into a hostile, bone-chilling winter.

When the convoy screeched to a halt outside Warehouse B-12 in the industrial district, the scene was absolute chaos.

A mob of over a hundred panicked merchants, desperate corporate executives, and armed thugs surrounded the massive steel loading bay doors of the warehouse. Shouts, curses, and the sound of heavy iron crowbars battering against reinforced locks echoed through the freezing air.

"Break the doors down!" a frantic voice screamed from the front of the mob. "The government is seizing everything inside! If we don't take the food and generators now, we're going to freeze to death by morning!"

A burly man wielding a heavy sledgehammer swung it viciously against the warehouse padlock, but the hardened steel refused to yield.

Ethan stepped down from the armored transport truck, his tall frame cutting through the unruly crowd like a blade. The bitter sub-zero wind whipped his jacket around him, but he didn't even shiver.

"Get out of the way," Ethan's voice rang out, low and carrying an absolute, crushing authority that cut straight through the deafening noise of the riot.

The burly man with the sledgehammer whirled around, his face slick with sweat despite the freezing air. He sneered, pointing the heavy hammer directly at Ethan's chest. "Who the hell do you think you are, punk? Back off before I crack your skull open! We're all taking whatever is inside this warehouse right now!"

Ethan didn't waste breath arguing. He moved with terrifying speed.

Before the man could swing the sledgehammer, Ethan closed the distance, grabbed the heavy wooden handle with one hand, and jerked it upward with enough raw force to lift the burly man off his feet and send him crashing headfirst into the asphalt.

The mob fell instantly silent, staring in horror at the fallen thug.

Ethan stepped over the groaning man, walked straight up to the reinforced steel rolling door, and pulled the digital black-market clearance keycard from his pocket, pressing it firmly against the electronic scanner.

Access Granted: Private Institutional Buyout Verified.

With a deep, mechanical hum, the massive steel doors began to roll upward, revealing the staggering mountain of wealth hidden inside: towering crates of V12 Cummins generators, pallets stacked ten feet high with military-grade medical supplies, and endless rows of vacuum-sealed grain.

"The inventory is claimed," Ethan announced, turning his cold gaze toward the paralyzed crowd. "Anyone who steps foot inside this building will be treated as an enemy combatant."

Before the stunned mob could recover or rush the open doors, a deafening roar echoed from the sky directly above the industrial district.

Ethan whipped his head upward. A squadron of heavy military transport helicopters swept low through the purple storm clouds, their searchlights blindingly bright as they hovered directly over Warehouse B-12. A barrage of amplified sirens shrieked from the aircraft, followed by a harsh automated broadcast echoing across the district:

“Attention civilians. Under emergency martial law decree 99-Delta, all private industrial assets, medical depots, and generator supplies are hereby seized by the federal defense authority. Comply immediately or face lethal engagement.”

The crowd screamed and scattered in blind panic as heavily armed soldiers began fast-roping from the hovering helicopters directly onto the roof of Ethan's newly acquired warehouse.

"Or I turn your heart into red mist before you can blink."Ethan didn't drop the weapon. His expression remained a mask of frozen granite, though his mind raced at maximum velocity. In the previous timeline, this woman—Vera Sterling, the ruthless field commander of the Syndicate—had operated entirely in the shadows during the first year of the apocalypse, slowly building a monopoly on military munitions before seizing control of the entire eastern sector. She shouldn't have been anywhere near this regional armory on day one. Her presence h
