Soren's POV

The Harrington mansion felt like a cage. Bennett’s words still hung in the air like smoke. “You’re not him.” I wanted to laugh. I wanted to scream. Instead I just stood there, knife in my pocket, the signature from this morning burning a hole in my hand.

Nadia’s voice was iced. “Then who the hell are you?”

Bennett’s eyes flicked between us. “Get out. Both of you.”

I didn’t move. “The other Soren isn’t hiding anymore. He’s inside this timeline. He’s already signed my name. He’s alrea

  • CHAPTER 46: THE ORIGINAL FOLD

Soren's POVWe stepped out of the alley and into the burning street. The future Soren moved first, his boots silent on the cracked asphalt. “This way. The old grid station. Three blocks north.” The Caleb-version just watched us go, hands still in his pockets like he’d already given up. Nadia stayed close to me, rifle steady, eyes flicking between the two men who looked like me but weren’t. I didn’t question it. We needed every pair of hands. “Move,” I said. “All three of us. No one gets left behind.” Caleb shrugged and fell in beside Nadia. The future Soren took the lead, jaw tight. We walked fast. The first mile passed in silence except for the distant gunfire and the fold’s constant whine inside my skull. Every block we got closer, the pressure built. The air felt heavier. My spatial space pushed back like it was fighting for room. Then it happened again. My hand brushed a wall and the world folded inside me. A crate of canned food appeared in my arms, same crate I

  • CHAPTER 45: THREE OF US

Soren's POVI stood frozen in the warehouse doorway, the night air cold against my face. Caleb’s words still burned in my head: *The future Soren is already here.*Then the city exploded behind us.A streetlamp ten blocks away detonated in a shower of sparks. The sound rolled toward us like thunder. Nadia’s hand went to her rifle. “That wasn’t random.”I didn’t wait. I ran.We burst out of the warehouse just as three figures stepped into the moonlight. One was Caleb, still standing where we’d left him, hands in his pockets, watching us with tired eyes. The second was me. Not the scared, tired version of me that had just left the Harrington house. This one was bigger, shoulders squared, eyes flat and cold. He wore the same black jacket but it hung wrong on him now, like it had been cut for someone else’s frame. The third… was the future Soren. He looked exactly like the man I’d seen in Nadia’s dreams. Same sharp jaw, same scar through one eyebrow, same calm that made my stoma

  • CHAPTER 44: THE VERSION THAT DESTROYS EVERYTHING

Soren's POVCaleb’s mouth kept moving, but the words blurred into a single scream inside my skull.“You’re telling me the alternate Soren was trying to save us?”He looked straight at me. “Yes. And he failed. Because he didn’t know the real choice.”The fold inside me erupted again.I staggered, hands clamped over my ears as the same line looped through my head like a broken record. *The one that doesn’t end with the second apocalypse. The one that doesn’t destroy everything.*Nadia’s voice cut through the noise, sharp but steady. “What choice?”Caleb turned to her, calm as ever. “The one the future Soren already saw. The one he told you not to save the city for.”I forced my hands down, breathing hard. “You’re lying. The guy who helped the other me take my life can’t be trying to save anyone.”Caleb didn’t flinch. “I’m not. I’m the alternate Soren. The one who stepped in when the real future Soren couldn’t.”That hit harder than the last loop.“Future Soren,” I repeated, voice low. “

  • CHAPTER 43: CALEB'S SECRET

Soren's POVI found him in the same abandoned warehouse near the river. The one we had first met in. The lights were out, but the fold was still open. Caleb was sitting on a crate, hands in his pockets, waiting like he had known I would come.I stopped at the door. “You’re here.”He smiled. “Of course I am. You remembered me. That means you’re finally ready.”Nadia raised her rifle. “Don’t move.”Caleb didn’t even look at her. “I know you remember me, Whitaker. I’ve known that since the first timeline. Since the day I died and woke up with your memories.”I felt the rage rise again. “You knew about the reset?”He nodded. “I’ve existed across several timelines. My memories are incomplete, but I remember enough. I remember the fold. I remember the warning. I remember you. Every version of you.”I stepped closer. “You helped the alternate Soren.”Caleb’s smile stayed, but his eyes changed. “Yes. I did.”Nadia’s voice cut through. “Why?”Caleb looked at her for the first time. “Because I

  • CHAPTER 42: THE HARRINGTON CONNECTION

Soren's POVThe Harrington mansion door was still open when we got back. I walked straight through it without knocking. Bennett stood in the living room, coffee mug in his hand, looking tired but calm. Elodie was on the couch, arms wrapped around herself. Tobin was nowhere to be seen. Maribel had already left.I stopped at the bottom of the stairs. “We need to talk.”Bennett’s eyes narrowed. “You’re back. That’s good. I was starting to worry.”I didn’t sit down. “I went through your company files. The ones you kept from before the collapse.”He laughed once. “You’re digging through my old papers now?”“Yeah.” I pulled out my phone and showed him the screen. “Strange shipments. Equipment. Parts I don’t recognize. You’ve been getting them for years.”Bennett’s face didn’t change. “So?”“So I want to know what they were for.”He set the mug down. “They were for safety. Insurance. We were prepared.”I stepped closer. “Prepared for what? Fold technology? Spatial distortion? The same thing

  • CHAPTER 41: DON'T SAVE THE CITY

Soren's POVHis warning didn’t make sense. Three months from now, don’t save the city. That was all he had said. The older Soren had stepped through the tear and left nothing but that sentence hanging in the air. I stood in the middle of my apartment, the photograph of the three versions of me still in my hand. Nadia was beside me, rifle lowered but her face pale.I looked at her. “Why would I let an entire city fall?”She didn’t answer right away. She just stared at the door where the older Soren had disappeared. “I don’t know. But he said it like it was the only way.”I felt the fold pull at me again, weaker than before but still there. I reached inward and felt the faint residue from the warehouse. The other Soren had been here. He had left the message scratched into the wall. And now this warning. The third version. The one who had already seen the ruins.I sat down on the edge of the bed. “We need more information. Every timeline ends different, but the city is always the same. I
