The crack spread across the blue sky.

It didn’t happen all at once.

Thin fractures crawled outward like veins across glass, stretching from one horizon to the other.

Each new crack released a faint silver light.

The peaceful meadow beneath Ethan’s feet trembled.

Birds that had been singing moments before suddenly took flight.

The gentle breeze vanished.

An unnatural silence swallowed the world.

Ren’s small hand instinctively reached for Ethan’s.

His fingers were trembling.

“They found us.”

Ethan looked down.

“Who?”

Ren swallowed.

“The ones who don’t want us remembered.”

Another deafening roar echoed overhead.

This time…

It was closer.

The sky shattered a little more.

Chunks of blue light drifted downward before dissolving into countless glowing particles.

Ethan had seen worlds collapse before.

He had watched stars disappear.

Yet…

There was something uniquely terrifying about watching the sky itself come apart.

Not because it looked destructive.

Because it looked…

Wrong.

Like reality was forgetting how to exist.

Back on Earth…

Mission Control erupted into confusion.

Every monitor connected to Ethan’s shuttle suddenly displayed violent distortions.

His life signs remained stable.

The shuttle remained operational.

But…

Every external camera had gone completely white.

Dr. Brooks frowned.

“We’ve lost visual contact.”

Professor Orion checked another console.

“The communicator?”

A technician shook his head.

“No response.”

Kai immediately stepped forward.

“So we can’t talk to him.”

“No.”

“We can’t even see him.”

Sophia stared at the blank screen.

For the first time since Ethan stepped through the doorway…

She truly felt powerless.

Far beyond creation…

The impossible-colored tree shook violently.

Not from wind.

From impact.

Nova nearly lost their balance.

“What was that?”

The white-haired child looked toward the endless darkness beyond the tree.

Something…

Had moved.

Not quickly.

Not loudly.

Just enough to make every lantern hanging from the branches sway together.

Elias closed the Human Chronicle.

His expression had become serious.

“They’ve begun breaking the boundary.”

The First Architect appeared beside him.

“I thought the barrier would hold.”

“So did I.”

Elias replied.

“But they aren’t attacking the barrier.”

“They’re attacking…”

He looked toward the distant horizon.

“…the memory of it.”

Back inside the meadow…

The earth trembled again.

This time…

Stronger.

Far away…

Beyond the silver fields…

Church bells began ringing.

One after another.

Their sound echoed across the endless landscape.

Ren’s face turned pale.

“They’re warning everyone.”

“Everyone?”

Ethan asked.

Ren nodded.

“The villages.”

“They’ll know.”

“Know what?”

“That outsiders are here.”

Ethan frowned.

“Isn’t that a good thing?”

Ren looked up.

“It depends…”

“They don’t know if you came to save us…”

“…or finish what was started.”

Before Ethan could ask another question…

Figures appeared on the distant hills.

One.

Then ten.

Then hundreds.

Men.

Women.

Children.

They weren’t charging.

They simply stood there.

Watching.

Their clothing resembled styles from different civilizations.

Some wore robes.

Some wore armor.

Some wore simple farming clothes.

Others wore uniforms unlike anything Ethan had ever seen.

They looked…

Human.

Yet not one of them looked alike.

It was as though people from countless different eras had gathered in one place.

Every pair of eyes rested on Ethan.

One elderly woman slowly stepped forward.

She carried a wooden walking stick.

Her silver hair flowed down her back.

Though she appeared old…

Her eyes were astonishingly clear.

She stopped a few meters away.

“You came.”

Her voice was calm.

Not surprised.

Almost…

Hopeful.

Ethan inclined his head politely.

“I did.”

The old woman studied him carefully.

Then looked toward the cracking sky.

“You chose a difficult day for your visit.”

Ren moved closer to her.

“Grandmother.”

She placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

“It’s alright.”

Then she turned back toward Ethan.

“I am Mara.”

“I speak for the Valley of Waiting.”

Ethan extended his hand.

“I’m Ethan.”

Instead of shaking it…

Mara gently placed both of her hands over his.

Her eyes widened slightly.

“So…”

“The warmth is real.”

Ethan looked confused.

“What do you mean?”

Tears slowly formed in the old woman’s eyes.

“We feared…”

“…that people born beneath a true sky no longer existed.”

A loud crack split the heavens again.

This time…

Something emerged.

Not completely.

Just…

A claw.

It pushed through one of the fractures.

Enormous.

Covered in black crystalline scales.

Each claw was longer than a skyscraper.

The moment it touched the blue sky…

The entire world shook.

The people gathered in the valley gasped.

Children ran toward their parents.

Several adults instinctively fell to their knees.

Ren gripped Ethan’s sleeve tightly.

“They’ve never reached this far before.”

The claw slowly pulled against the crack.

Trying to widen it.

Trying to force something much larger through.

Ethan’s instincts screamed.

Whatever belonged to that claw…

Made the Devourer seem insignificant.

Yet…

Something else caught his attention.

The claw wasn’t reaching for the people.

It was reaching…

Toward the enormous black doorway behind Ethan.

Toward the only passage connecting this forgotten world…

To Earth.

Mara noticed where Ethan was looking.

Her expression darkened.

“They don’t want us dead.”

Ethan frowned.

“What do they want?”

Her answer came almost as a whisper.

“They want to follow you home.”

At that exact moment…

A deep, familiar warmth spread through Ethan’s body.

The blue mark above his heart blazed brighter than it had since the Legacy vanished.

For a heartbeat…

A voice he hadn’t heard in a very long time echoed softly within him.

Not commanding.

Not instructing.

Simply…

Greeting him.

“Welcome back… Partner.”

Ethan froze.

That voice…

There was no way he could ever mistake it.

It belonged to the Legacy.

The system he believed had disappeared forever.

The light over his heart pulsed once more.

Then a familiar blue screen slowly appeared before his eyes.

Not as bright as before.

Not complete.

Only one line was visible.

Legacy System… Emergency Restoration Initiated…
