Chapter 2: The Spatial Storage

Standing to stretch his body, Felix suddenly froze. At some point, without him noticing, his mind had become connected to something.

Focusing on it, his eyes widened as he instinctively understood a bit of it

"What dimension is this? Is this a spatial storage?"

Doubtful, he grabbed one of the pillows on his bed, and with a single thought, it vanished from his grasp. With another thought, it reappeared in his hand. He examined it carefully. Not a single change.

"A wonderful spatial storage. I never thought I would get something like this."

He sat back down on the bed and studied the space. After a few minutes, he finally understood it clearly.

It was a spatial storage ten meters wide, but with a limitless height. In other words, anything he stored inside could not exceed ten meters in size, but the height did not matter at all.

And he noticed something else, too. Time inside the storage was frozen. Even a steaming hot meal would remain warm forever in there.

Seeing this, Felix trembled with excitement. With this, he no longer had to worry about food.

"With this, I don't have to worry about food storage or clothes storage, especially if I want to roam further away."

Bam!

Bam!

Bam!

A loud banging on the door snapped Felix out of his excitement. With one final bang, the door was slammed open.

"Just how long are you going to laze around in there?!"

It was his father-in-law, Harrison Woods. The old man glared at him from the doorway. "What are you staring at me for? Go and cook immediately! Your wife will be back from work soon!"

"Sorry, I have work to attend to in the next thirty minutes," Felix said calmly.

"Does it look like I care?! Go and cook!"

Hearing the persistent order, Felix frowned. Subconsciously, he remembered. When the apocalypse began, it was this man, Silvia's father, who had taken part in nearly killing him at the very start.

According to him, Felix was too useless to stay with their daughter in such a moment, a waste of the food under their roof.

Remembering those scenes, something in Felix's chest flared, and he met the old man's glare head-on.

"Mr. Woods, like I said, I have work in thirty minutes." His voice was calm, almost gentle. "Unless you want the police searching for your body somewhere out in the woods, don't ever talk to me like that again."

The old man flinched. Then, embarrassed that he had flinched at someone like Felix, his face twisted with anger.

"How dare you threaten me in my own house?! The last time I checked, you are the one living under my roof, because your late useless parents' house is half ruined by..."

Smack!

A heavy slap landed on the old man's face, snapping his head to the side. That slap carried months of resentment and a lifetime of swallowed anger.

Felix did not even look at the state of him. He snorted, stepped past the frozen old man, and walked out of the house, heading straight for his workplace.

He had no time to waste. The sooner he blackmailed... no, persuaded money out of his boss, the faster his preparations could begin.

---

The office building was busy in the early morning rush, but one voice cut through it all the moment Felix stepped inside.

"Felix Cross. Wow. I didn't know you were so important that I, Davidson Richard, have to personally call you before you grace this company with your presence."

Felix did not even get the chance to look around before the sarcastic remark reached him. He turned.

There stood Davidson, the same Davidson who, in his past life, had eaten his bread and drunk his water while Silvia pointed a revolver at his stomach.

"Important? That depends on your perspective," Felix said, equally sarcastic. "Maybe I am. Who knows?"

Anger flashed across Davidson's face. No one had ever talked back to him like that, let alone someone whose salary he signed. His hand rose instinctively, ready to slap.

Then he stopped.

He looked into Felix's eyes, and for some reason, his soul trembled. He was a businessman. Reading people through their eyes was second nature to him, and what he saw in Felix's gaze was not fear.

It was anticipation. The look of a man waiting for the slap to land, as if the slap itself would give him exactly what he wanted.

Davidson lowered his hand slowly and adjusted his suit, his face cold. "This is the last time. I hope such a thing never happens again."

He spun around and took the elevator to the top floor, to his office.

Felix watched him leave, the smirk slowly fading from his face, ignoring the chatter of his colleagues. He sighed softly. "I thought he would take the bait. Seems he is more cautious than I remember. Fine. Then I will take the fight to his wife."

He turned and headed straight for the finance department.

The department floor was a sea of desks and ringing phones, but at the far end sat a quiet, separate space, enclosed in polished wood panels. A mini office within the office. The door was not closed.

Felix pushed it open gently.

A woman with long, wavy dark hair sat behind the desk, focused on her computer screen. Her skin was well cared for, fair against the white of her shirt. Even seated, he could tell she was tall, easily around 1.75 meters.

And what immediately grabbed his attention was the way her ample chest strained against her white shirt, the buttons looking one deep breath away from surrender.

In his past life, Vanessa was kept in jail while David was temporarily out to deal with some things before the apocalypse strikes. Considering she was in jail during such times, chances of her surviving was low.

She noticed his presence. A light frown crossed her face as she lifted her head, but her voice remained polite and measured.

"Felix? Is there something I can help you with?"

Felix smiled. "Yes, actually. I do need your help... Mrs. Vanessa Richard."

Clatter.

The papers in Vanessa's hands slipped and scattered across the desk. Her pupils shrank for a fraction of a second, then steadied.

"Felix, what are you talking about?" A stern frown settled on her face. "You know making jokes like that, making accusations like that, is not appropriate."

"And you know the company has an anti-nepotism policy, right?" Felix said, his tone casual, as if they were discussing the weather.

"You and Davidson have been married for more than six years. But you have both been working in this company for eight years. Imagine everyone's reaction if they found out. A husband sitting in the director position. The wife holding the finance department. Years of it."

Vanessa's hands began to tremble on the desk, and a thin line of cold sweat slid down the side of her neck.
