"Can I give you the funds so that your son can begin treatment?" Leonard asked, raising his brows.
Keith glanced at him surprised, " Leonard, you know what I like about you?" Leonard shook his head.Keith sighed and held his shoulder. " Your sense of humor and your helpful spirit. I appreciate your help my friend, I really do but we both know that you don't have such money and I wouldn't want to burden you with my own problems, you got yours to settle."Leonard smiled slightly at him. He felt the urge to tell Keith about everything, but it wasn't the right time to do so. His past...was too dark. The more he knew, the worse it was for him."I think I have to leave now, can't afford to leave my kid alone in the house. Take care of yourself, buddy," Keith said, tapping him on his shoulders before walking away, buried in his thoughts."I promise you Keith, as soon as I have everything sorted out, I will help you and your son." Leonard said to himself, with a sad smile on his face.He sat steadily on the pavement, examining the bag he just got back with excitement. He must find something!Twenty minutes later..."Shit!"
He tossed the bag aside and cursed, disappointed.
Nothing!
He had examined every corner of the bag ten times, but found nothing.
Lying down on the pavement with disappointment,he tried to recall every possible details that could possibly related to his past.
One minute later,he suddenly opened his eyes and stood up immediately.
The black bag!
Leonard remembered getting saved by Trisha's father, but with him was a bag which was still at Trisha's home.
His ex mother-in-law didn't send it to the restaurant.
If it was with him when he was saved that means it could be related to his past and he might be able to find answers to his questions.
He needed to get it. Bracing himself, taking in deep breaths, he walked back to Trisha's home.
After arriving, before getting in,a familiar voice sounded inside.
"Mom, can you imagine Leonard coming into the bank today with a stolen card claiming he was some sort of billionaire?" Trisha said angrily.
"That's good for nothing bastard!" Trisha's mother swore, gritting her teeth. "I am glad you both are divorced now or else he would have involved you in his crime. I always knew nothing good could come from him. I warned your father but he never listened."
" I saw him today," Cordelia said, crossing her left leg over the right.
"Really?" Trisha mouthed, wide eyed.
"Yeah, I was driving, and his stupid friend almost hit my car.I had to make a sudden turn and made my car get scratched! Damn it!"" What?!"" Mother, I really think he's insane. You needed to see the dangerous look in his eyes when he was speaking to me. He wanted to kill me!"Their mother sighed, leaning back on the couch."Of course he is. I think the good-for-nothing is stranded and needs money. That is why he let his friend did that. He only wanted to extort money from you. Luckily we have gotten rid of him now."Leonard stood by the door listening to their conversation. He folded his fists with anger visible in his eyes.He was glad and felt lucky that he had gotten rid of this family. He took slow steps to the living room and cleared his throat, attracting their attention towards him. They stared at him, wide eyed."What the hell are you doing here?!" Their mother barked at him. " You had better leave here at once or I will call the police to arrest a thief."
Leonard didn't want to waste any time with them.
"I didn't come here to cause any problems. I only came to take my stuff. The black bag I left." He said briefly.
Cordelia chuckled and sneered at him. "You're so poor that even a little thing like a bag is very important to you. Well, I am not surprised," she said, laughing.
"You shameless bastard! Do not think you'll get one more penny from us!" Cordelia's mother yelled, glaring at Leonard."Well,I’ve heard that there's a vacancy for a cleaner in the company where I work. " Cordelia looked up at Leonard, blinked her eye.
"If you knee down and kiss my feet,I'll recommend you to work there. What do you say?" She folded her arms, saying with a mocking smile on her face."I suggest you mind your own business and be quiet." Leonard said coldly, without even looking at her."Ungrateful thing!" Cordelia snorted, spat at him,"then I'd like to see you begging on the street!"
"He's not qualified to be even a cleaner in Miles Cooperation. That's too much above his level. " Trisha rolled her eyes and said impatiently, running upstairs. She came back a few minutes later with a black bag and threw it at his feet."Here's your most prized possession. Leave and I don't want to see you anywhere near us. Martin won't be happy to see that." Leonard raised his eyebrow, bent low, took his bag from the floor, and took one last glance at them all, "You would regret what you have just done."With that, he walked out of the house amidst their mocking laughter."Empty threats!" They yelled at him, amidst laughter.Empty? Let's see...Leonard stared at the closed door behind him, holding the bag in his hand.He was no longer that weak man who'd like to bear any insults and bullies without complaining.
From now on,any one who dared to do that should pay the price.
Taking out his phone, he dialed the director's number and said with something dangerous flashed in his eyes.
He wouldn't mind playing a game with them.
"Do you know Miles Corporation, Miss Amanda?"
" Oh yeah, I do. Any problem, Mr Leonard?" She asked.
"Could you purchase the company for me?"

The Davisons:
That night, Keith sat at his apartment, files sprawled across his dining table. One in particular caught his eye—a cross-reference of investors and shell companies. Most of the connections were dead ends… except one.He hadn’t thought of them in months. The Davisons were powerful, discreet, and infamously detached from the public spotlight. But their name popped up—barely—in a transfer to a subsidiary recently restructured into a tech-based logistics competitor now bidding aggressively for the same contracts Marshall Corp had its eyes on.Keith’s phone buzzed.Leonard.He picked up. “Hey.”“I have news,” Leonard said without greeting. “The competitor targeting Marshall? We ran a full audit trail. It's being funded through proxies—offshore firms, fake holdings. But we finally traced the money.”Keith sat forward. “Let me guess. The Davison family.”A long pause. The Plan:
The room was quiet aside from Keith’s laptop softly humming. The transfer bar blinked at Ninety-eight percent then Ninety-nine percent, then completed. Keith dry swallowed and leaned back in his chair, staring at the now secure Marshall Corporation archival database on his screen.“Done,” he said to himself. His fingers hovered over the keyboard as if to try and revert back. But this was permanent. The data: sensitive projections, confidential financial models, internal audits, were no longer solely within his dominion. Barry had it now. Or at least had a backdoor to it.His phone buzzed.Barry.Just the name made Keith’s stomach tighten. He inhaled once, then picked up.“You’ve been efficient,” Barry’s voice poured through the speaker like warm steel. “Impressive. I knew you would be.”“I kept my word,” Keith said, staring at the screen. “The files are transferred. All of them.”A pause.“Good. It’s nice when people understand the stakes.” Barry’s voice dipped. “And when they don’t…
The Will Of A Man:
That night, Keith didn’t go home. He couldn’t. He booked a room at a discreet hotel on the edge of the city, not wanting to bring any of Barry’s reach near his son, Seth. He had enough problems to deal with already, ever since the confrontation with his mother.Alone in the room, Keith placed the flash drive on the nightstand and stared at it like it might sprout legs and crawl into the computer on its own.His phone buzzed. Unknown number. He didn’t pick up.It buzzed again. This time, a message.**Tick-tock, Mr. Marshall. Bella works late tomorrow. Would be a shame if she didn’t make it home.**Keith’s jaw clenched. That was the line. Threatening him was one thing. Threatening her—even if they weren’t personally close—was another. He opened his laptop and ran the flash drive through a private, air-gapped system, logging into a clone environment he used to audit company material. The drive required a password.Of course it did.He typed: **Barry**.Access denied. He tried: **Marshall
The Weight Of Blackmail:
Keith’s hands felt really heavy with the flash drive. The size was so tiny and could be mistaken for a bomb. Barry's message was clear:Transfer the contents to the Marshall Corporation archival database. Midnight. No delays. No excuses. Or someone disappears. The room was full of Keith’s thoughts as he paced back and forth in his office, clenching and unclenching his fingers all the while. Each second that passed seemed like ticking time till doomsday. Then came a creak from his door. He immediately put the flash drive away.Bella stepped into the office, excluding all elegance carrying a cup of coffee. “You were absent during the commercial shooting,” she said in an almost whispering voice, “I thought maybe you would want this.”He ignored her presence by turning towards it and pretending to look out of it at the raindrops running down on his windowpane pretending not to notice how wet it had become.“Thank you.” He muttered pretendly lost in thoughts about work.Bella placed the co
Barry’s Threat:
Barry stepped forward, one hand casually brushing a crystal pen on Keith’s desk. “Do you remember the party, Keith? The lights, the dancing, the betrayal... the escape?”Keith remained silent.“I do,” Barry said with a smirk. “You and that little beauty—what was her name again? Bella? You ran from me. Quite rudely, I might add.”“She’s not part of this anymore,” Keith said quickly, fists clenching at his sides. “Leave her out of it.”“Out of it?” Barry laughed. “Oh, Keith. You made her part of it the moment you brought her to my event. The moment you let her get a glimpse of my world. And then—like a thief in the night—you both vanished. Didn’t even say goodbye.”“You threatened her life,” Keith snapped.Barry waved a hand. “Minor detail. You’ve seen what I’m capable of. You know the weight I carry in this city. And yet here you are… making me come to you.”He leaned in.“To settle scores.”Keith’s throat dried. He tried to stand tall, keep the fear buried.“I didn’t take anything fro
