Two other men emerged from the darkness. They lifted Jay’s barely conscious body and dragged him toward the edge of the ravine. Jay’s legs dangled over the empty void.

“If you want money, just say it!” Danny begged, tears mixing with blood on his face. “If you want my life, take it! But please … please spare my brother!”

They didn’t care.

With indifferent movements, they threw Jay into the ravine.

“Brother Danny!”

The young man’s body vanished into the darkness. There was no scream. No sound of impact. Only a silence more terrifying than anything else.

“Jaaaaaay!” Danny screamed until his voice disappeared, his throat feeling torn apart.

Danny’s hand reached forward helplessly, his eyes soaked with tears mixed with rain. Rage and grief fused together, the world feeling unbearably unfair.

One of the men grabbed his long hair, yanked his head up, and slammed Danny brutally onto the asphalt. His once handsome face was destroyed, cheekbones cracked, eyebrows split open, blood flooding his eyes.

Danny lay motionless. His eyes were half-open, staring blankly at the sky that continued to cry. Through his blurred vision, he saw the men walk back to their motorcycles, start the engines, and leave without a second glance.

Leaving him dead, or half dead.

The rain eased into a gentle drizzle. In the silence, Danny cried soundlessly, tears mixing with blood and rain. His legs were destroyed. His brother was gone into the ravine. And he… he could do nothing.

Moments later, the glow of car headlights pierced the darkness.

A black Mercedes stopped perfectly at the roadside, its engine hissing softly. The rear door opened. A woman stepped out gracefully, her Louboutin heels striking the asphalt sharply. Her Chanel dress could not get wet, so a bodyguard immediately opened a large umbrella.

Diana Legiani walked slowly, her sharp eyes surveying the scene as if evaluating a newly finished painting. Beside her, a teenage boy, Romario Wijaya, smiled faintly, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction.

“Madam,” one of the bodyguards reported flatly, “Young Master Danny is still alive. But his condition … he may be disabled for life.”

Diana nodded calmly, her face showing no emotion. “And the other one?”

“They only found torn clothing near the ravine. If he fell, he’s most likely dead.”

“Good.” Diana smiled, a thin smile that never reached her eyes.

She gently stroked Romario’s head like a loving mother. “Everything is finally settled. And you, Rio, you are now the sole young master. You are the main heir, the one and only, to the entire Wijaya family fortune.”

Diana Legiani laughed loudly and at length. There were no more serious rivals for her son.

Jay was dead, and Danny was crippled. Who else could possibly matter now besides Romario Wijaya, her son?

Romario nodded, his chest puffed out with pride.

“Then … Madam, what about Young Master Danny?” the bodyguard asked again.

Diana fell silent for a moment, her fingers tapping lightly against her Hermès bag. Her eyes fixed on Danny’s helpless body lying twenty meters away.

“Take him to the hospital,” she said at last, her voice cold as ice. “He might still be useful someday.

At that moment, Jay’s body was hanging upside down near the cliff wall in a miserable condition.

Apparently, when Jay’s body slid downward, a hanging vine accidentally wrapped around his leg. It was extremely painful, but that was how God saved the young man’s life.

“Am I still alive?” Jay whispered, half in disbelief.

Jay realized that his body was hanging upside down. Using all his strength, he tried to move and correct his position.

Crack!

Something felt broken and crushed on the right side of his abdomen. Jay did not care. He only knew that he had to survive.

Jay bit his tongue to suppress a scream, blood filling his mouth. His fingers clutched the vine tightly until his nails dug into the bark and bled, but he did not care.

Below him, darkness gaped wide, as if ready to swallow him at any moment. He wondered what would happen if his body fell into it.

“Hold on,” he whispered to himself, his voice shaking. “I have to survive. I can’t die!”

His left hand searched along the cliff wall, looking for another grip. Small stones came loose and fell into the depths, their sound never reaching the bottom. His fingers found a protruding tree root. He pulled his body upward. His muscles screamed in protest, and his cracked ribs sent sharp pain through his entire body.

One pull.

Two pulls.

Three pulls.

“Hngh!” Jay forced his arms to move with all his strength.

His feet searched for footholds between the rocks and found them. He pushed his body upward, centimeter by centimeter. Blood and sweat mixed with rainwater made his grip slippery.

Jay gasped for breath. Every inhale and exhale was painful.

“Come on, Jay! You can do this!”

His brother was still up there. The people who did this were still free. If he died now, everything would be meaningless.

Jay grabbed branch after branch and rock after rock. Thorns cut into his skin, but he kept climbing. The world spun, and his vision blurred.

How long had he been climbing? Ten minutes? An hour?

The greeters exchanged glances with confused expressions."Unfortunately you are late. The items to be auctioned should have been registered two days before the event began, and at this point it feels impossible," answered the burly guard politely."Well, it seems we are going to fail. All my effort to dress up this handsome will be wasted if I just become a cricket watcher out here." Ken then turned around and squatted with a sad expression on his face, looking like a lost child."Boss, what should we do now? Are we going home empty handed, and what about that gift?" Frans began to chatter."You guys don’t think about Boss’s feelings at all. Look at him, Boss is more confused than all of you." Nayaka put his hands on his waist, his face clearly emotional. The guards looked alert, while Jay turned around and walked to a slightly quiet place as he activated his phone.Jay was heard talking to someone. "Hey, Idiot. We actually came late." Frans flicked Zane’s head lightly but hard enough to make the victim groan."Ahh. My bun could get ruined, you know." Zane held his hair that had become slightly messy because of Frans’s action, feeling the traditional head ornament that almost slipped."That’s also because of your terrible driving skills," Zane snapped with pursed lips. "You drive like you’re playing a racing game.""It’s not my driving that’s terrible, it’s because we had to wait for you to dress up for more than an hour just to fix that ugly hair of yours," Frans retorted, unwilling to accept the accusation. "Not to mention this ondel ondel style makeup.""Blame Nina who doesn’t know how to do makeup properly. What kind of girl is she?" Zane felt annoyed remembering he had to become the test model for Nina’s makeup experiment, a girl inexperienced in making up a man’s face for traditional costume."Enough, enough." Jay intervened with a firm tone that immediately made his two su

Yet even so, the man continued doing his duty professionally until the last group of guests arrived.Jay stepped down from a luxurious black Mercedes with an elegant movement, and his appearance this time looked very different from usual, as if he were not the bandit figure hated by many people for often causing trouble in public places. His long legs touched the asphalt gracefully, like a prince descending from a royal carriage.Right now Jay was wearing an ancient costume in the form of a Han Dynasty style hanfu set that had been modified in such a way that it became a new fashion model that looked modern. Navy blue silk fabric with golden dragon embroidery wrapped perfectly around his body, making the man look like someone else, someone born from an h

A few days later, the Wijaya Family began to be busy with preparations for the birthday celebration of Heru Wijaya, the legendary founder of Big Hero Corporation. Madam Diana moved like a general leading a war. She organized all her people with military precision to decorate a large European classical style house that became the main venue. The three-story mansion had a main hall as wide as a basketball court with a ceiling twelve meters high. Austrian crystal chandeliers were installed perfectly, reflecting golden light throughout the room. Red and white roses were arranged in Bohemian crystal vases, while Persian silk carpets stretched along the marble floor. Every corner of the room radiated luxury that dazzled the eyes.
