Return from the Abyss: The Superpowered Young Master

The heavy rain slammed violently against the asphalt, turning the roadside of Gem City into a black mirror that reflected the faint glow of streetlights. It accompanied the figure of Danny Wijaya as he twisted the throttle hard, making the engine of his Honda Repsol roar as it tore through the darkness of the night.

“Slow down, Brother Danny. You’re going too fast!” Jay hugged his brother’s waist tighter, his body trembling, whether from the cold or fear, he could not tell. “The road is too slippery. We could get into an accident.”

“We have to get home quickly.” Danny glanced back briefly, catching sight of his brother’s pale face. “I don’t want you to get sick. You still have a match tomorrow, don’t you?”

Just as Jay was about to reply, the shadows of three motorcycle headlights appeared from the bend they had just passed. Their beams cut sharply through the darkness like blades. The engines roared loudly, deliberately menacing.

“Brother Danny ....” Jay looked back, his chest tightening. “Something feels off about those riders behind us.”

Danny Wijaya checked the left mirror, then the right.

“Maybe they’re just people heading the same way,” Danny replied, forcing a casual tone.

But his voice lacked conviction. His hands tightened around the handlebars until his knuckles turned pale.

Suddenly, a stone flew out of the darkness.

Clang!

It struck the rear fender and bounced onto the asphalt with a sharp sound. The motorcycle jolted violently, the rear tire skidding slightly to the left.

“Damn it! That was close!” Danny shouted, half shocked, half panicked, struggling to regain control.

“Shit!” Jay glanced back, his eyes widening. “Brother, they’re really chasing us!”

“I know!” Danny twisted the throttle all the way. The rain-laden wind lashed their faces like whips. “Hold on tight, Jay!”

Jay, only twenty years old at the time, could only nod, his arms locking firmly around Danny’s waist. The age gap between them was merely three years.

“Be careful, Brother!” Jay kept warning.

“Relax.” Danny prepared to accelerate even harder. “Remember, your brother is an undefeated racer in this city!”

The motorcycles behind them drew closer. One pulled up alongside them. Its rider, a man wearing a black mask, stared at them with cold, emotionless eyes. The horn blared repeatedly, piercing the air. Engines were revved aggressively, creating a demonic symphony in the pitch-black night.

The road began to slope upward. To their right, a yawning ravine opened like the mouth of a giant beast. There were no barriers, only darkness waiting to swallow everything. Jay could hear his own heartbeat, louder than the rain.

“Brother, watch out!” Jay screamed in panic.

Too late.

A motorcycle from the left shot forward at insane speed and slammed hard into Danny’s bike. The clash of metal shattered the night.

Danny lost control. The motorcycle spun wildly, their bodies thrown through the air. The world descended into chaos, asphalt, sky, lights, all spinning in a terrifying vortex.

Danny rolled violently, his back slamming against the ground again and again. The motorcycle crashed down on top of him, its hot exhaust burning into his thigh. Pain exploded throughout his body, but his only thought was his brother.

"Jay!"

"Jay!” His voice cracked with terror. “Where are you?"

Danny crawled, dragging his battered body out from under the motorcycle. Every movement felt like knives slicing through his flesh. Blood mixed with rainwater on his hands, turning it slick and pink.

“Jay, are you okay?!”

The sound of an engine grew closer. Danny looked up, too late. The front wheel of a large motorcycle crushed down onto both of his legs.

Crack!

Danny screamed. The sound was no longer human, it was the howl of a wounded beast. Bones shattered, flesh tore apart, nerves screamed in unimaginable agony.

Danny collapsed flat on his back, his long hair spread across a puddle mixed with blood. The rain washed over his face, but it could not wash away the pain.

“Brother Danny!”

Jay’s voice rang out weakly and fearfully from the left. Danny forced himself to turn his head. His brother was staggering on his feet, but before he could take another step, a large man dressed entirely in black blocked his path.

The first punch slammed into Jay’s cheek, snapping his head aside. The second hit his stomach, forcing him to double over. The third, fourth, fifth, there was no pause. Jay collapsed, vomiting blood onto the wet asphalt.

“Who … who are you?” Jay coughed, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth.

The man did not answer. He continued punching methodically, like a killing machine.

“Noooo!” Danny screamed hoarsely. He tried to crawl, but his legs no longer responded, only mangled flesh and shattered bones.

“Please! Let my brother go!”
