When Morgana got to where they were supposed to be, she noted silently that Asher had been waiting for her to arrive in order to make his next move.

“General.” She started sharply. “I got what you asked for ready.”

Asher’s gaze flicked to the men behind her.

They bowed the moment Asher’s gaze met theirs. He was their general of course and it was proper etiquette.

Asher acknowledged them with a slight nod.

Meanwhile, Morgana’s attention shifted to Crown Prince Rian, who stood nearby, arms folded, watching the spectacle with visible discomfort. His face was slightly pale, a faint green hue betraying his unease, as if thinking, What is wrong with these people?

It was like they amused him.

On the other hand, the Ruler said nothing. He simply sat and watched, his gaze heavy and still. Tension hung in the air, thick and electric. Something was about to go down—and everyone could feel it. The court held its breath. The Crown Prince’s fire was burning low, perhaps dimmed by the weight of s

At that moment, when everyone stood still in tense anticipation, waiting to see what Asher would do next, the heavy doors of the courtroom creaked open. The sound echoed through the vast hall like a crack of thunder, drawing all eyes toward the entrance. Two men stepped out—servants of the Crown Consort—and between them, barely conscious, slouched the Crown Prince, Rian.Gasps rippled through the courtyard. From a distance, with his head bowed and body limp, one could have easily mistaken him for dead. He looked broken, barely alive, supported only by the strength of the servants on either side of him.The Crown Consort’s eyes locked on the sight, and in an instant, she forgot about Asher, who had been standing near her just moments ago. Her face went pale, then twisted in sheer panic. Her feet moved before her mind could catch up.“My prince!” she cried, voice breaking with emotion as she rushed forward. “Oh, my dear prince!”Her heels clicked loudly against the floor as she climbed

  • 131. Audacious Mother And Son

“Before you talk about teaching other people a lesson, you should be berated for skipping moral lessons when teaching your son, Your Highness,” Asher finally spoke, his voice tinged with sarcasm and irritation. Finally, Morgana was feeling her chest again as it soared with pride. The Crown Consort was done barking. It was time for the king of the jungle to tame the loud fool. The ruler’s lips pressed together. He was just going to watch and let Asher teach his unruly wife a lesson.“Wow,” the Crown Consort scoffed incredulously. “Look at that—the king's lapdog talking back to a royal consort. I wouldn’t believe a day like this would come.”“Lapdog?” Morgana couldn’t hold back, even though she didn’t have Asher’s permission to speak. The Crown Consort’s eyes narrowed at Morgana, who dared to speak to her.The ministers watched as the two women exchanged words. It was obvious that neither was ready to give in to the other.“People like you can only wish to be in the general’s position a

  • 130. I Tame Stubborn Fools

“You’ve gone mad!” the ruler thundered, his voice carrying across the open court grounds. “Demanding the general’s head? Have you lost all sense, Crown Consort?”The words cut through the murmuring crowd. Ministers froze. Guards tensed. Even the wind seemed to still.Still Asher didn’t behave like they were arguing about him. He was too calm for the erupting chaos. Only someone like Morgana would know his silence meant more. But just when no one expected it — the Crown Consort fired back.“No,” she hissed, taking a bold step forward. “You’re the one who’s gone mad!”A gasp rippled across the court.Asher brow furrowed in anger. The crown consort was raving mad. “You let a complicit stranger — a man who had no business near the palace — lay hands on your own son!.” Her voice cracked, rising with fury. “And you stood there.”Her eyes were wild, but her words were sharp, precise — spoken with the pain of a mother and the defiance of a woman pushed too far. “If I hadn’t heard what was h

  • 129. Promise To Shed His Blood

Asher took the lead as he made his way out of the grand hall, the other ministers trailing behind him. Even the prince Rowan wasn’t left out. The moment they stepped through the towering court doors and descended the few marble steps to the palace grounds, they were hit with a sight no one had expected. Of course they had been told that an angry Crown consort was out there waiting for them, but they didn’t expect what they were seeing at that moment. There she stood. The Crown Consort.Flanked by an entire battalion—at least five hundred soldiers, dressed in full armor and standing shoulder to shoulder across the courtyard. They were on palace grounds. Poised. Silent. As if awaiting the order to strike. It wasn’t just an appearance—it was a statement.Morgana was the first to speak, her voice low and sharp with disbelief.“What the hell…?”This was not what anyone had been told to expect. The courtier had merely reported the Crown Consort was waiting outside. No one had said anythin

The Ruler blinked. He had assumed she would come out — what? He was surprised. Then, slowly, the courtier raised her presence and continued in a shaky voice. “Your Majesty... it’s a mess out there. She—she just barged in and asked me to report to you.”The Ruler stared, confused, trying to piece together what was going on. What in the world was the Crown Consort doing now?The State Chancellor, meanwhile, wore a deepening frown. First, he’d had to endure the shame of Asher humiliating the Crown Prince, and now this? He had strictly warned the crown consort, his recalcitrant niece not to act. And now, she was challenging Asher.Of course she knew the person that tormented her son was Asher. He was even more surprised and confused about how she had found out what was going on in here. Just then, Rian collapsed to the floor as if hearing that his mother had come to save him had drained all the last strength he had. A moment of weakness, perhaps. Or maybe a tactic.Morgana briefly glance
