Before dawn, William was already out of bed and outside the house. After the conversation he had with Logan, Sean and Dylan in the middle of the night, he found it very hard to go back to bed. His initial plan when accepting their hospitality was to leave very early so he would not have to encounter Finlay again but with the recent turn of events, he needed answers before leaving.
Just as he had in mind, Bob rose up before his sons who didn’t sleep through the night, so William sprung up his question upon seeing him that morning. “Just who I was hoping to talk to,” he gets up as Bob steps out of the house. “Likewise,” Bob didn’t panic, he was coming from the guest room and hoped to catch him outside before he left. “Leaving so soon?” “Not yet sire, I was looking to get your opinion on something.” William started. “Of course…” Bob was glad to hear that, he had some advice to offer and hoped they were on the same issue as regarding his returning to the palace and hearing his father out, if possible mend any broken fence before he loses the chance of ever doing it. “Please, I’d like to know if Sean is truly your son.” William went ahead to ask the question bothering him all night which made Bob very shocked as to why he would ask such. Seeing his hesitation to answer, he added. “Please, it’s important that I know this to clear my mind.” “I don’t understand, Sean is of my flesh and blood. Why do you ask?” Bob got curious. “Father, William,” Logan burst out of the house after overhearing the two of them talking and knew what all was about, so he had to stop William before he blabs about their attack and fills his father’s head with unreasonable thoughts. William noticed his rush and soon realized why, but Logan’s presence was going to stop him from finding answers. “Because Sean was…” “Nothing father,” Logan interrupts before he could say further, therefore making Bob realize they were hiding something. But Logan didn’t care if Bob got curious or not, he needed William to stop at that moment. “Why do you choose to repay our kindness by destroying my family?” “What is going on Logan? What don’t you want him to say?” Bob asked. “I’m sorry Logan but I need to do this.” William apologized in advance before returning to Bob’s question. “Sean was wounded by a bugbear which is a sign that he is of a special bloodline…” “That’s enough.” Bob stopped him this time as he figured out what was going on and why Logan didn’t want him to hear about it. Tears rolled down his cheek while he looked at Logan because he knew what that meant for him. Although he knew this day would come, when Logan’s true family would find him, he didn’t know it would be in this form nor did he imagine Logan to be of such noble birth. Not knowing the reason for those tears, William felt bad for bringing up the subject even after being told not to. The deed had been done so there was nothing he could do than face it head on. While the three of them took face to face in silence, Sean and Dylan came out to see the sorrowful look on Bob's face and were quick to detect what was going on. At once Dylan pushed William in anger, ready to pounce on him even though he looked stronger than him. William on his part accepted the blow because it wasn’t without provocation because he would do the same if the roles were reversed. He willingly collected three repeated and fast blows from Dylan who didn’t seem to stop pouring out his anger and was ready to continue if not for his little brother who he sighted coming towards the house. Bob didn’t stop Dylan because he was short of words still with a sorrowful face while Sean and Logan tried getting him to wipe away that look and put on a cheerful look. They were also mad at William but if they all pour out their anger on him at once based on their feelings, William may receive a beating more than he could bear, also they considered the fact that he was Prince therefore his people could retaliate in an unreasonable manner. After Dylan stopped, William asked, “Who is next?” He knew that five strikes could measure his, causing Bob to cry and wanted more. Since he asked for it, Logan was now ready to unleash his inner monster too but as he stepped down from the corridor, Bob stopped him. “Logan no,” He turned back to his father disappointed, his fist was already clinched showing how badly he needed that turn. “I didn’t expect this day to come after a long while of waiting but here it is.” Bob wipes his face taking a deep breath. Though William was still not happy about how his news was taken, he definitely knew Bob was about to reveal what he wanted to know so he paid attention. “Brothers, father has come down with a fever and is asking for you.” Caleb Dylan’s brother said the moment he reached the house, causing Bob to put a hold on what he was about to say as they were needed somewhere else. Caleb’s tune told that it was very serious therefore the three of them fixed their eyes on William in expectations such that he knew there was an ask also he took that as an opportunity presented to him by the universe to do something nice for the family and win their sincerity. “We should leave now.” William said in response to the request put forward by their expression. Arriving at Dylan’s home, they were marveled by the nature of Ben’s illness, they knew it would be bad but not on that level. All of a sudden in a space of one night he had lost so much weight, his skin had grown dry with pus emitting from his body. it was some they have never seen before. “Please help him,” Dylan said to William who froze upon seeing Ben, after first the rest though in was due to a shock as to how someone who looked very healthy just the other night could come down with such an affliction, but they were all surprise and soon realized that William’s reaction was not due to the shock alone but also the fact that he has seen something like that before and it wasn’t ordinary. “Do something!” Logan added while snapping his finger at William’s face too. William knew they were asking him to use magic in healing Ben just like he healed Sean’s wound thus did not know how to break it to them that the sickness was beyond his skills and if he was going to help at all, it meant doing something he never planned for. With his consistent inability to say a word they soon discovered they were asking for something beyond his power. Just to be sure Sean asked. “You can’t heal him?” “Uh huh…. But I know someone who might be able to.” William stammered. “What then are we waiting for?” Dylan cried. William didn’t want to say anything about this person at first because Ben’s situation looked worse that he might not even make to the person even they leave immediately, but after seeing the desperate looks on their faces he got the impression that they’d still want to embark on the journey either ways, so he tried to give himself hope as he muttered softly. “He’s been sick for less than a day so we could make it there just in time.” So Logan, Sean, Dylan and William geared up for the journey, carrying Ben in a cart as they departed from the town to seek the mystery healer William told them about, leaving Caleb, Gracie and Dylan’s mother under Bob’s care till they return.
