Ch 04: Beating Up Shaun

Bella was silent for a moment. Her throat felt tight, making it hard to breathe. The smell of alcohol on Shaun’s clothes was sharp. Her hands trembled slightly.

"Come on," Shaun said.

With no other choice, Bella hesitantly reached for the glass in Shaun’s hand. For a moment she looked at Shaun, who was grinning wide with hidden intentions.

But just as Bella was about to take the glass, a strong hand suddenly clamped down on Shaun’s wrist. It made Shaun startle and turn his head to the side.

Leon stood there with a flat gaze, his presence imposing. His aura spread in every direction, freezing Shaun for a moment. Without a word, he immediately yanked Shaun back, sending the man crashing away from Bella.

"Huh? Who is this guy? Since when was he here?" Shaun muttered, a deep crease forming on his brow. He held his wrist, which stung from Leon’s powerful grip.

The four men with him were also startled by Leon’s sudden appearance. Since Bella’s arrival, no one had entered the room.

"Fuck!" Shaun shouted, glaring sharply at Leon. He slammed the glass in his hand to the floor, shattering it as shards flew everywhere. "Who the hell are you?!"

"Leon?" Bella gasped, her brow furrowing as she spoke softly. "Since when were you here? I told you not to come in!"

"They were about to harass you, and as your bodyguard, should I just stand by?" Leon replied quietly.

Leon spoke while shifting Bella behind him and looking at each of the men there, his expression alert.

"Do you even deserve to be called men? Aren’t you ashamed, bullying a woman?"

"How insolent! Who is this guy?! Why is he here?!" Brian’s voice cut through the air. His jaw trembled, his eyes wide.

Shaun then turned to Bella. "Bella? Is he your man?!"

Bella was stunned hearing that. For a moment, she felt her heartbeat stop. "N-no. I don’t know him. Maybe he’s a crazy person who entered the wrong room."

That answer instantly made Shaun’s temple throb. His gaze grew sharper. He turned to the four men there and said, "What are you waiting for?! Take him down!"

Hearing that, Bella’s eyes widened. She was the one who brought Leon here. How could she let these men beat him up?

She panicked and stepped in front of Leon, saying, "Mr. Shaun? You want me to drink your wine, right? I-I’ll drink it. Forget this crazy man. Let him leave. Let’s have fun."

Shaun snorted with a crooked smile. That smile instantly made Bella feel a terror she couldn’t shake off.

"You think I’m stupid, huh?! I don’t care who this guy is, or why you’re trying to protect him. For being disrespectful to me, today I’ll make him lose a leg!"

"Bella?" Felix cut in. "I respect you for your beauty and talent. Don’t tell me you’re going to ruin our good relationship just to protect this beggar?"

"I-it’s not like that. I just don’t want this insignificant person to delay our event."

"Brian? Separate Bella from that loser!" Shaun ordered, making the atmosphere even tenser.

Bella looked panicked. She was out of ideas to buy time, to give Leon a chance to get out of there.

"Mr. Shaun?"

"Bella? Let it be." Leon cut in, making Bella even more uneasy. He stepped forward casually, looking at the men there without fear.

"Leon!" Bella pressed her voice until it was barely audible. "This isn’t your business. Do you know who you’re dealing with, huh?! Don’t cause trouble. Get out of here now!"

"Hahahaha." Shaun’s laughter echoed through the room. "Fine. Since you’re ready to lose your leg, then—"

"Shut your mouth!"

Before Shaun could finish, Leon cut him off with a commanding tone. In two breaths, Leon’s foot was right in front of Shaun.

Shaun’s eyes widened instantly. He was shocked by the speed of the man before him. 

At the same time, Leon swung his palm toward Shaun’s cheek, then followed with a front kick that slammed squarely into Shaun’s stomach, sending the man flying back.  

Shaun immediately fell to his knees and coughed up fresh blood after his back slammed hard against the wall. Both his hands trembled, pain radiating through every muscle.

The four men there were also shocked by Leon’s speed and toughness. He attacked with confidence and without calculation, as if he didn’t care who he was facing.  

"Leon!" Bella cried, equally shocked at the sight. She quickly ran to Leon and stared at him with furrowed brows. "You’re insane! What did you do?!"  

She’d tried to keep Leon from getting more involved. But Leon’s actions made her furious. She didn’t know how else to protect this man. Everything was a mess.  

"Uuggh! Fuck! How dare you!" Shaun said in a heavy tone. His sharp gaze then turned to the four men, and he said, "Kill him!"  

Felix, Brian, and the other two gritted their teeth and clenched their fists.  

"You damn piece of trash! How dare you hit Mr. Shaun! You’re dead!" Brian shouted, immediately charging to attack.  

Leon looked calm and motioned for Bella to step back. After that, he moved forward to meet his opponents.  

Leon threw a punch, blocking the blow Brian launched. His strength was overwhelming, making Brian scream in pain the moment their fists collided.  

Leon then spun his body and launched a kick that struck Brian squarely in the ribs—sending Brian flying sideways and collapsing to the floor.  

Felix and the others attacked him together. But Leon’s speed made it difficult for them, and one by one they received heavy, precise strikes from Leon.  

"Huh. Ants like you want to match strength with me?" Leon muttered, then turned toward Shaun with a cold expression.  

Seeing that, Shaun grew even angrier. His face reddened as he gritted his teeth. Veins bulged at his temples, his gaze as sharp as a monster ready to brutally attack its prey.  

"You fucking bastard! I’ll make you die a miserable death! Hyaaa!"  

Shaun immediately got up and lunged at Leon. He attacked recklessly, but Leon dodged him easily.  

Leon’s expression, as if looking down on him, made Shaun’s head burn hotter. He sped up his attacks, aiming for Leon’s vital points.  

Leon admitted that Shaun’s fighting technique was good. Shaun could deliver intense, measured strikes, even though his emotions were flaring.  

Unfortunately, Shaun was like an insect in front of him. When he started striking back, Shaun’s defense wavered.   

Every swing of his leg and fist carried at least dozens of kilograms of force. In just a few breaths, the fight was taken over and Shaun was sent flying back into the wall, falling to his knees.  

"Huh. You wanted to break my leg? Your attacks couldn’t even touch me," Leon said, standing tall as he looked at Shaun.  

"Leon, you?" Bella murmured.  

Leon shifted his attention to Bella, looked at her, and seemed to say, Calm down, everything’s fine.  

Calm? Bella could only stand there stunned, seeing Shaun’s battered condition. She was a little shocked to learn Leon was this strong. No wonder he wasn’t afraid when facing Vander and his men back at the office.  

But no matter how strong Leon was, he couldn’t avoid disaster from the Murph family. The Murph family had several powerful cultivators behind them, which made them a respected family in Monharvest.   

On top of that, they had the backing of the Vint family, who currently had a powerful cultivator: Gordon. Attacking Shaun, and to this extent, was definitely serious.  

"You damn rat!" Shaun muttered, his breath heavy with pain.   

He tried to hold himself up from collapsing while reaching into his pants pocket to grab his phone. He quickly sent a message to someone and lifted his face, glaring sharply at Leon.   

"You think you’ve won, huh?! Uncle Xiao will be here soon. If I say you’ll die miserably today, then that’s what’ll happen."  

Hearing Shaun mention Uncle Xiao, Bella’s eyes widened instantly. Uncle Xiao was a powerful cultivator from the Murph family. Getting on his bad side was the same as delivering your life.  

"Huh. Even now, you’re still running your mouth. Even if your grandfather came, I’d slap him too! Leave now or I’ll—"  

"Leon, enough. Let’s get out of here, quick!"  

"Bella! I knew you knew this guy. You dare step out that door, I guarantee you and Pirette Group will face the consequences!"
