Chapter 13

“There's no way I'll believe you took all that time just to get your phone. Tell me what transpired between you and Pius.”

"Did he and his friend bully you again because we both saw them walking away.” Donald inquired as they met up without Adolphus.

“You took a lot of time here and I'm sure that Pius must have come at you. Adolphus, what really happened because they were grinning mischievously when we saw them.” Glover added to his friend's earlier question.

They were both waiting for a response from Adolphus. However, he just laughed it off like nothing really happened.

“Guys, don't worry about me. Pius is not even up to one percent of the problems I've handled. I can take care of him so you have to trust me." 

The friends only exchanged brief glances and didn't say anything else.

“Come on, let's get back to school.”

Forcing out a smile, Adolphus walked up to his friends, placing his arms on their shoulders while they began to walk away.

Under a peach tree, inside Boston University, the three friends were on their way to the dormitory but Adolphus was not done with his adventure for the day.

He thought about Mr. Lesley Gibson and decided to drop by the man's office. However, he had no idea how to discharge his friends.

With Donald and Glover always with him, Adolphus knew that he'd really have a hard time exerting his revenge on everyone who humiliated him. However, he'd have to be very cautious around them so they'd not find out about his new identity, at least not yet.

After thinking about the situation, a thought came to him and he turned to his friends and said, smiling.

“Why don't you guys go ahead to the hostel, I need to get to work right now. You both know how it is with me.”

"If I don't work, I won't be able to take care of myself and pay my fees.”

"But you told us earlier that you got a good job that pays well, why don't you just stick with it.”

"There's no need for you to continue running errands for other students, they'll just keep humiliating you.” Donald inquired with so much concern written on his face.

Since they met with Adolphus that morning, a lot of things were not adding up about his behavior.

They could no longer comprehend him and he kept sweeping their questions off under the carpet.

He hasn't given any straight answer to all their questions.

"Remember, I need all the money I can get. It's never enough, guys. It has never been enough.” Adolphus replied, his eyes scanning their faces.

There was still confusion on them and their faces had some questions written on it.

“I'll see you later, guys." Adolphus patted them on the shoulders and quickly excused himself while they stood at a spot, watching his retreating back.

Turning around, Donald found a bench close by and sat on it while Glover joined him.

“I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed the sudden change in Adolphus's attitude." 

“I've noticed it too. He kept avoiding our questions and surprisingly took us out to have lunch in such a big hotel." 

“The Adolphus we know will never do such a thing. For a frugal person such as Adolphus to suddenly spend on expensive hotel meals, something is fishy.”

“Yeah, something has changed about him.”

The friends were still conversing when they saw two of their classmates, Sheila and Brianne passing by. 

They quickly called out to them, following them immediately.

The friends have a crush on the girls but wanted to first befriend them. They caught up with the girls and exchanged pleasantries while walking away together.

Inside Mr. Lesley Gibson's office, Richmond sat on the visitor's chair, his both legs on the table.

He was giving the man a dirty look but the man just kept staring back at him.

He believed it wasn't Richmond's fault that he was behaving that way. If Mr. Lesley Gibson hadn't enabled Richmond, he wouldn't have the audacity to misbehave in his office.

Richmond has the man by the throat but because there's a new boss in campus, Mr. Gibson was ready to break free from Richmond's and his father's shackles.

“Get those filthy legs off my table, Richmond. I'm not going to warn you again." Mr. Gibson summoned all the courage in him before muttering those words.

It even left Richmond dumbfounded. The man was suddenly growing some wings.

With a very dark face, Richmond stared intently at the man briefly before asking.

“What did you just say to me, Mr. Gibson? It seems you want my Dad to come after you." Richmond's voice was cold and domineering.

He was even speaking very rudely to the head of his department.

There was a brief silence at the place before he sighed and glanced around the office.

“You know that I can ask my Dad to make you lose your job so you have to be very careful." 

"Now, tell me what happened after our agreement. Adolphus was supposed to be expelled from this school but tell me why I keep running into him.”

"And he's even got some temerity to challenge me which I think you enabled because you didn't do your job well.”

“I don't know what you're talking about." Mr. Gibson replied, still trying to be calm.

Richmond's attitude was very annoying but he just kept tolerating him.

If he exchanges words with Richmond and their tiff reaches his superior's ears, he'd be blamed and his job may be on the line.

“Richmond, please leave my office right now. Don't make me call security on you.”

"I dare you.” Richmond barked, quickly lifting himself from the chair while glaring daggers at the man.
